With Sega West being so limited, it will probably be left for SoJ to prepare for global service, which will probably not be prioritized over making sure the Japanese launch is smooth, and on course first.
yeah, had to do the same. Unfortunately I also got on the wrong ship to top it off. The blog mentioned ship 10 might be a secondary hangout spot for English speakers until issues with ship 2 are corrected, although things could change

In my opinion Ship 10 as the permanent english ship is a huge mistake, the great majority of online games have problems in the first few days, and the situation in Ship 2 will end up being improved.
I think Ship 10 should only be considered a temporary ship while Ship 2 has issues, and once the issues are fixed, those in Ship 10 could delete their Ship 10 characters and create their permanent characters in Ship 2.
Out of the two, Ship 2 is alot more likely to have the bigger community and the healthier player shop economy.

For sure, I don't think Ship 10 was intended to be permanent in any way, just a holdover. I only mentioned it in case people were eager to jump in and get started with whatever amount of community members may be there.
Ah, I posted about it being better as a temporary ship since some are actually thinking of using it as the permanent ship for the english community, which I think would be a bad idea.
The patch is around 2.5GB or so, it takes a long time to download.

Finally up and running and in the tutorial right now on ship 10. Is there any guide for the system options? I desperately need to change the right thumbstick to inverted! Just a good translation in general would be good.
Ship 2 is not full, character creation is locked. Dunno how long it'll take for them to unlock it, but most likely once the server load gets high again, they'll lock character creation again.

I hate these missions. These timed missions, ESPECIALLY free Forest.
It's like clear in 15 mins! ..but you spend 13 of it just finding your way around.
What do they do? Throw an extra hard boss at you! It's like repetitively hitting a brick wall. I just want to get past this.

I PM'ed Keiician all the translated screenshots I still had from the closed beta for him to put them in the OT but I think I forgot to screenshot the controller settings

Dude, I was not getting it to work with the RP of Windows 8, so I just went back to my install of Windows 7. Just bite the bullet and do that.

Yeah I heard reports from other places aswell that the latest GameGuard update PSO2 uses is not compatible with Windows 8 at all.

Yeah, Ship02 is still no-go. Maybe in a few hours when someone at Sega wakes up to press the button to increase the limit.
If the rockbears are hard, it sounds like you're underleveled for this.
The time limit isn't really an issue as long as you don't run into silly emergency codes on the way. There's nothing else stopping you from simply ignoring everything and dashing for the next block.

I'm about level 13 now. Just tried and I got a low percent and got an A rank, its just more often than not a Emergency code pops up. Even worse is when you get the rescue one and your team member is half way back through the map.
It's just a somewhat tight time limit and the boss battle being dependent on how many party members you have and if the boss is the "Special" one. Usually that's just enough to push me over the time limit.

Off to work, will be back in about ~8 hours and can invite anyone who still needs a team invite. If you are on before that, there is a chance that Hasemo will be on as well, and he can invite you.
Also, I doubt the creation lock-out will last much longer, but we'll see...

Got Windows installed on my iMac last night and started updating the launcher this morning. Hopefully when I get back from work it'll be ready to go and I can start killing things with you folks.
Man this game is absolutely amazing, good to have PSO crack back <3

I made a temporary character on Ship 10 to dick around with. I have a question for the Japanese readers. Is there a way to change the camera settings to have it follow behind my character without having to constantly adjust with the right thumbstick? (Just in case, I'm not talking about the TPS viewpoint.)

So I'm around level 8 and still only have the four forest quests. Where do I go from here? I got my MAG and currently trying to finish out the Matter Board (at the part where I have to get drops: A5, B4, C3).

o only played 15 minutes, but those 15 mins were ....good?
i don't know, after PSU almost killed my nostalgia for PSO, i'm cautiosly optimistic. seems simple enough that you can pick up and drop easy, but has some variation to add some spice. will reserve judgement till i'm farming weapons, but so far so good...

There seems to be a few ships where it's still possible to create characters, like ship 7, 8 and 9. Hopefully SEGA will release the lock soon, since it's already early morning in Japan.

Didn't do that to me on 9 though. I think it just spits that error out when the creation is locked on that ship.
Andddd crashed after the cutscene.

Poor Emilie. :< I should have waited to make my character and then we could have played on one of the less populated ones!
