Terrell the objective evidence is in the fact you admit to buying games "just because they were on the Wii" and providing a list of games you would purchase if you could have, half of which are in a genre woefully unrepresented on said platform. I'm not saying you don't buy Nintendo platforms for Nintendo games, I'm saying you're in a poor position to judge what else you might have chosen to play on a HD platform instead, because you didn't even give them a chance.
So in light of the cognitive dissonance you display I don't see much point in discussing this any further. As bewildering as I find your position to be it is, as you say, a moot point. Konami and Platinum were never going to get your custom either way.
I admit to buying around 5 games, yes. And they stayed in my library because I was happy with them. I would have sold them otherwise.
If I gave everything a chance to entertain me on my own dime, I'd be on the street tomorrow with an empty wallet, because there's a LOT of entertainment out there. I have played a large chunk of the PS3 library from swapping consoles off and on with a friend, and my takeaway remains the same. The simple fact is that you have to draw a line, where entertainment consumption is enough to be satisfactory based on your desired forms of entertainment.
I love watching anime, for instance, but as a viewer, it was something I could no longer afford in large quantity because it was priced well outside feasibility when placed alongside my already expensive video game purchases. I was forced to choose one over the other in terms of greater rate of consumption. In this situation, there is no platform wall, so to speak, but there's a lot of anime that I will never ever watch, despite the fact that I'd probably really enjoy it. And there are a lot of factors as to why... money, time spent, lacking digital distribution options (I'm almost out of shelf space for new DVDs), etc.
To imply that I'm being delusional, hypocritical or whatever else it is you're implying exactly simply because I didn't let the hobby consume the entirety of my paycheque or free time to slake my every
potential thirst is absurd.
And that's the crux of your argument on this matter: POTENTIALITY. But the kicker is that I've seen a great big chunk of that potential, from someone else's game catalog, demos and rentals of items that I thought may be of interest to me, thankfully without having to shell out top dollar, too. And I'm still going to pass on a lot of it and lament the stuff I can't justify the expense of. And you can preach on about how I'm deluding myself all you wish, as you have already implied several times that I am. You'll need to bring more than a gut feeling that I'm being disingenuous to the discussion or at least an understanding that not everyone here on NeoGAF is the hardest of hardcore that can't restrain themselves from being entertained when other factors are in play.
