Project X Zone |OT| Reiji & Xiaomu VS The World

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I have a vague feeling all the minibosses are based on characters from Journey to the West for some reason

Considering the attacks of the brothers (the bottle and the yarn), as well as them being brothers (in JttW he fights Gold and Silver brothers), yeah.

Not sure about Mii or Due though.

*starts Chapter 40* Alright, just a few more to go!

*All the solo units who were originally bosses appear as clones*
Err, okay, no biggie, just gotta defeat them again and....

*all 6 of them multiply by 4*
Well CRAP.

Fun isn't it? lol

And Neneko is an awesome character.
I found the dialogue hilarious when you put Lindow with T-elos and Imca with Frank West.

I really wish there was a list of all the special dialog between units & solo units. At the very least, you can use training & hope you get the special dialogue before battle, but you can't get it for after battles...Not to mention it's completely random as to if you'll get it or not.

I wouldn't mind going through training to see all of them, if the training dummies didn't have such high HP.

Its being worked on:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/667255-project-x-zone/66612021

And in video form: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheYummyKenshin/videos

I just noticed that ALL of the mixed gender teams have the male character as the primary one, and it kinda annoys me.
That bugged me for Ogami & Sakura. She's the postergirl of the series for crying out loud! They had sprites for every character so the least they coulda done is let ya swap 'em in battles as a simple preference kinda thing.

Yeah, it probably would've been a nice feature to choose which sprite you wanted to be shown on the map, but oh well.

& great to see a list being worked on, especially in video form. I can't imagine the time it takes, considering how random it is to get the special intro dialogue, let alone the victory ones.

thank you Haken for your oversexaulized sutile jokes, hate the rest of the cast.

Love tron with that slap to the face to X.

Incredible. You managed to hate over 99% of the cast.

Can't hate on dat Neneko. Don't you want to nano her nanoda, come on be honest. I like Alisa too, she is uber delicious. I've been playing TTT2 and wow her design is amaze-balls. Can someone please kick the robotics industry right in the ballsack so I can order an Alisa android?

So...
since i'll be' spending my summer holydays (15 days) in my villa, swimming and giving my go at my running menu, i took back home just 3ds and vita..
I decided to give this game a go and god, is this for real?
Attacks have no attribuite, there's no weakness or anything involved so far and i'm even wondering if there's a real point in learning new skills..
I understood that this was a fan-oriented game but ehm.. There is little to no strategy involved apart from occasional luring other units on a runner... An attack is pretty much equal to another, it may just be a bit stringer but in the end is just about pairing the right attack so that your support gets the maximum around oh hits possible..
End of the battle system...
Am i missing something?
If that's that, given hltb states that this game lasts, i'll drop it pronto

Actually I'd rather have attacks having no attribute. It was fucking terrible in Namco X Capcom where all enemies are either defensive on all types, or that all attacks of a character are of a single type.

But attacks do vary in type. Some deal more hits, some generate more XP, some deal more damage, some come out faster, some break guards easier, etc.

Skills are useful for boosting damage, range, movement, etc.

The strategy is very little in this game, all you need to do is rationalize the shared XP bar, have some units fill it up while other units kill the enemies. Skills don't matter that much after half of the game, those +10%, +15% attack combined with guard breaks and a special move timed as critical can make you dish >70k damage, which is around half the HP 99% enemies have.

Sigh not my definition of an intriguing battle system..
I suppose fire emblem is more to my taste.. Time to take de-shrink that One...
I guess project x zone will be parked for some (a LOT of) time

The appeal of the battle system is the fighting game inspired mechanic of correctly chaining your attacks to create the highest combo possible. And the beautiful 2D pixel art that accompanies said attacks.

As I said earlier in the thread this game has absolutely nothing in common with Fire Emblem. If your expectations are centered around Fire Emblem as a frame of reference it's obviously not going to work out.

it's mainly a cross over game first , and the a strategy game second.
Also attacks do have some attributes and extra effects they are just not applied on a hit basis.

in contrast to many games that will ask you " what attack should i do to max my damage ?" , PxZ is " how will i chain attacks in order to make the maximum combo possible?"

It's not for everyone but it's not a bad way to approch the genre.

Back on this now that SMTIV's done, during the Aura segments.

At least they're short!

I just noticed that ALL of the mixed gender teams have the male character as the primary one, and it kinda annoys me.

The idea is that they're the one who takes the beating when attacked, but maybe that's kind of sexist in a way? Or chivalrous, take your pick.

Finished the game yesterday or so. Yeah, I can tell Wing Wanderer or some other licensed song was suppose to play, because after the final chapter's title was shown, there was no music playing until it was the turn of one of my characters, which almost made me think my game glitched or something.

While it did feel like it overlasted its welcome a little bit, I still think this is a good game & really glad it got localized. Yes, it'll get easily repetitive if you try to play a huge amount at once (I kept to my chapter a day rule), but as long as you limit your play time, it won't be as bad.

PxZ is easily the 2nd worst game I've played this year and I'd give it a 7/10 myself. 6.5 on a bad day. Not a bad score if anyone comments on that.

Oh? What is your worst game of the year then?
Tales of Xillia.

I estimate I'm over the halfway point and it's gotten a lot better compared to the beginning but I still dislike the game immensely. The battle system is horseshit and I'm aware I'm part of the minority on thinking that.

I don't think it's straight up garbage like Tales of Graces F, though. Xillia's cast is topnotch and that's enough to save it from being garbage bin material.

Ouch, I'm liking Xillia well enough so far, but there are a few things that weren't quite thought through imo.

In retrospect, I quite liked Graces f because of the battle system (and because of my proclivity towards gameplay). Sucks that you don't agree though, that battle system is bloody excellent.

Hm, I noticed that SD save game back-ups aren't supported for this title... is it something that's relatively simple to implement via update?

I finished again the other day! This might be the quickest turn around time of me buying, beating, and rebeating a game yet! Originally I was just going back ta collect some .hackers data I missed jotting down the first time but I got so far along an was having so much fun I went all the way, hooray!

My first playthrough ended at 61:57:58 but this one took only 44:56:15! A 17 hours savings! Not just from skipping all the text but also from just playing wrecklessly. Once ya know where and why reinforcements'll come from theres no reason not to charge all your people right to the baddies! Using supers/multi's pretty much whenever you're able to, even just for bonus exp offa regular defeated baddies is really the way to go! I need ta hide this game from myself for a good long while to stop me from getting sucked back into it again lol.

What's the best order of attack I should do? From weakest Str attack to strongest? When to call in Supports?

Usually I just spam buttons.

Chapter 30. Come on, why didn't
Skeith die in Chapter 29? Perfect opportunity.

I think the only boss who HAS died so far is Haken and Kaguya's mech.

Also, having Juri with Haken and Kaguya:

[Haken] -Let me escort you, bad girl.
[Juri] -I can't stand stupid guys.
[Kaguya] -That's why I like you, Haken!

I have a possibly stupid question. I've gotten up to chapter 11 on this and I feel i'm always missing stuff, I just now figured out you could use skills, lol. My question though is simple. The XP bar is what you use to pull super moves, defend, use skills, etc, but does the XP bar itself in any way affect how much experience you earn to level up? I guess i've spent all this time in the game trying not to use any of the XP because I thought it affected leveling progress.. Any help would be awesome, and any tips in general would be nice. I haven't found the game too hard yet, but I do find myself lacking in healing items and wonder if I could be screwing myself in the long run by not knowing all I should.

I got this game for my birthday last week and am really enjoying it so far. On the one hand, I enjoy that no one ever needs to explain themselves or their back stories in any depth, on the other, I feel pretty lost because of some of their idiosyncracies as well. As in, Reiji and Xiaomu. She's like, a fox-woman? And he's her master? And they're into spankings? I think?

So that's it, huh? I mean, I get that you don't have to be ashamed of being kinky when you're traveling around with Morrigan, but some of these party members here are kids, and Reiji just be spanking this fox lady during fights like this is 1940 or something. Also he has Cruella de Ville hair. Also also why do so many Banpresto characters always have two hair colors?

Reiji and xiaomu have 2 games of story between them ... they started as co-workers and well after saving the dimensionnal universe 2 times and lots of revelations in between they became
lovers and started a new way to enjoy their relationship

The only kid is neneko and she isn't really a kid ... All those characters saved the world numerous times so i think they have seen enough.

Also xiaomu enjoy the spanking i think.

Aren't Kite and BlackRose technically in high school? I mean that's grown up in video game terms, but they're still pretty young in the larger sense of things.

Technically 3 games: NxC and both Endless Frontier games.

Banpresto characters seem to purchase all their clothes from the same black/white/red exclusive retailer too.

The sequel wasn't released outside of Japan. One of the greatest tragedies ever since it's bloody amazing.
