I'd like to know what the viewing experience is like for non-VR stuff. Do you get the same kind of impression as having a large television but within a headset?
Yeah it should be like that. It should be like Oculus Cinema is in Gear VR, a big screen floating in front of your face. Sony gives you three sizes, one of them will be like a big Imax in front of your face, the medium one will be the sweet spot for seeing the whole screen and getting decent detail and I'm guessing the small one will be too low in detail to be all that great. Gear VR's cinema app actually would be very useable if it just had a better field of clear vision through the lenses. As it is in the Netflix app you have a nice big TV in front of you but the corners of your vision are blurry. I believe PSVR has better field of view and much better optics. Combined with the full RGB strip OLED and 120fps it should actually be a pretty good experience. You'll lose some fine detail in the image versus looking on a real tv of similar size, but it should be easily good enough to enjoy gaming and using other non VR apps!
