Scott Pilgrim worked great on my system with no issues.

It's hard to code something to a standard when the standards keep changing.Raistlin said:Technically it may not really be Sony's fault. They obviously can't check every disc out there, and it's very possible Fox is the one that coded something non-standard.
Certainly it will be up to Sony to figure out a way to patch it however.

BocoDragon said:Kinda un-related but I feel like bitching about the state of Blu-ray: Scott Pilgrim is one of the first BD-live films I'd tried... They stream new trailers every-time you turn it on, the menus are covered with tickers that advertise shit. Goddamn.
Meanwhile on Netflix you just click a button and the movie plays
Yep, with the latest firmware (3.5 and 3.55) Sunshine defaults to the Enhanced PiP special feature when played normally. The option to turn PiP on or off in the Sunshine menu is disabled. So as you watch it, the PiP window comes up randomly throughout the movie.Gary Whitta said:Oh wow is the Sunshine thing still true? I was planning on watching this again soon.

Well, I've never seen the DVD, but the video quality on the Blu-ray is demo disc material in my opinion. In other words, it's a disc I put in to show off my home theater. Also, Blu-ray.com gave the video quality a 4.5 out of 5.Chzn8r said:Having watched both the DVD version and Blu-ray version of Sunshine on the PS3, I noticed that:
A) they did a TERRIBLE job upgrading this for Blu-ray as far as visual quality goes (there are so many pixelated, blocky parts, especially in dark scenes), and
B) maybe that was the best they could do for the Blu-ray, but the DVD looks almost exactly the same up-scaled anyways

I decided it was time for another of my bi-yearly Persona playthroughs and popped in P4 into my launch PAL 60GB with software emulation (like the US 80 GB model). Used to work like a charm (with the games it supported) , but now while starting up my game, the sound is fine but the image is fucked up. I checked my other PS2 games and they are the same. Tried different monitors/TVs, cables (HDMI, component, SCART) but the problem remains. I guess the emulation thingie in my PS3 is dying or some update fucked it up, because PS3 stuff works great. I don't have access to a PS2 for a while so if anyone has any idea what's going on it would be very much appreciated. I've included some pics from GOWII to illustrate.

Kinda off-topic, but after updating to the latest firmware my PS2 games (I have a PAL 60GB Launch PS3) look like this.....

So I've never been in a hurry to replace my DVD copy and get a Blu-ray copy like a friend of mine did. Not enough visual difference to have an incentive.
btw this is one of my top 3 films and I have always enjoyed the 3rd act.

Fox could create new Sunshine Blu-rays and offer a free replacement program. However, seems like it would be less trouble to fix this via firmware. I'm sure Danny Boyle's not too happy about this, if he even knows about it.Tabris said:Either way, they need to fix this problem. Whether removing the compliance on old disks or some other solution.
Are you talking about Danny Boyle's Sunshine? Because BR version of that look amazing and blows the DVD image quality away so much that it's not even worth discussing.Chzn8r said:Having watched both the DVD version and Blu-ray version of Sunshine on the PS3, I noticed that:

Hello,
I apologize for the inconvenience that you are experiencing with the Picture in Picture options on the movie Sunshine. I do understand the frustration that you feel with this situation. The reason that you are having this problem is due to the fact that the software of the movie is not compatible with the PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thank you for your time and patience.
Regards,
Deanna H.
I'm beginning to believe that is the case. =(Oni Jazar said:I honestly think there's a better chance of Fox re-releasing Sunshine then there is of a firmware fix.

Not compatible with the PS3? Seriously Sony? It's been compatible with Sunshine for the past three years. It wasn't until firmware 3.5 that this problem started happening.Tabris said:Here's the response I got from Sony
Hello Deanna,
Except the software of the movie DID work before when I purchased it. It stopped working when you, Sony, updated the firmware of the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. You, Sony, have invalidated the purchase of my Blu Ray movie with your update. If you want to retain me as a customer with your products, I expect this to be fixed in an update and if thats not possible as you just said, then to be compensated the cost of the Blu Ray which was purchased for $29.99 + 12% tax (GST + PST) at the time.
Least acceptable answer they could have offered.Tabris said:Here's the response I got from Sony
