Great job Sony!
End of March yeah. That is crazy... and people doubted that they could reach 5 million by, what was it, March?
Tokyo, February 18, 2014 - Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that the PlayStation®4 (PS4™ computer entertainment system has cumulatively sold through more than 5.3 million units*1 around the world as of February 8, 2014 (JST), and is continuing to demonstrate strong growth and momentum.
"I am thrilled that so many customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play throughout and beyond the holiday season,” said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “We are delighted that according to the NPD Group’s latest data, PS4 was January’s top-selling console in the United States. The PS4 system’s momentum just keeps growing stronger, and we are extremely grateful for the continued passion and support of PlayStation® fans. February 22 sees the launch of PS4 in Japan, and I’m looking forward to Japanese fans sharing the excitement of the deep social capabilities and entertainment experiences only possible on PS4."

*1 Number of retail sales to consumers is estimated by SCEI. PS4 sales data in North America and Latin America collected 11/15/2013 – 2/8/2014. Europe and Asia collected 11/29/13 –2/8/2014.
Just an educated guess:
Xbone should be around 3.3 million: 3 million from 2013 and less than 340K in January 2014 ( 141K from US, and definitely less than 200k from the rest of tier one countries)
Difference 2 million units.
With PS4 beating expectations. Atleast the PS brand won't be in the chopping block for a while. Hope the Vita can also experience a turnaround so that it won't get axed early.
But they told me consoles are dying !! How is that possible ?
Uhm no.and Xbone is at like what 1.8?
this isnt a war its a massacre
lol

They are ahead by over a month nice.End of March yeah.
That one I'm pretty negative on, but given the strength everywhere else, I don't think it's a big deal.

4.2 million. What were the total numbers in 2013?
My launch unit (Norway, november 29th) is still the only PS4 I have ever seen (disregarding other picking up theirs at release). Colleague still can't get one.PS4 is going to be the PS2 all over again in PAL regions.
MS must be pretty stressed right now.

3.9 from what I read.Isn't it already above 3?
I agree. And I don't even think that TitanFall is going to bail them out of this one, especially when the game is also out on 360 & PC.
Ok thanks. Will be interesting to see how it continues and how much Japan will affect.4.2 million.
Where's this number from?4.2 million.

This is sold to consumers, that is sold to retailers.
I am thinking their will sale out their launch, after that sales will slow down until maybe FF14 which I am not sure if that would do much. That one I'm pretty negative on, but given the strength everywhere else, I don't think it's a big deal.
End of March yeah.

Sony manufacturing so slow. Or they're stockpiling for Japan?
This is overall, not just North America. Overall for Xbox One is probably around 3.5 million.
Sony sold more PS4s outside of NA.
Wii U sales:
1 month: December 31st, 2012: 3.06 million
4 months: March 31st, 2013: 3.45 million
7 months: June 30th, 2013: 3.61 million
10 months: September 30th, 2013: 3.91 million
13 months: December 30th, 2013: 5.86 million
PS4 sales:
1 day: November 16th, 2013: 1 million
2 weeks: December 1st, 2013: 2.1 million
1 month: December 28th, 2013: 4.2 million
3 months: February 8th, 2014: 5.3 million
The sales trajectory is ridiculous compared to Wii U.
Where's this number from?
Damn. Has the PS4 already outsold the Wii U worldwide ?
