Hmm seems like a bit of improvement which gives me a little bit more hope.
I still believe we will get a lot of stick issues though. :messenger_loudly_crying:

when you’re gonna sell 100mil consoles with an included controller and another 35-50 milstand alone, there’s bound to be issues. The thingabout Sony is, just like they did with the cooling issue and fan noise, it is being addressed. We’ll see if it’s been resolved. But they listen and address what their customers have concerns about. That’s all we can ask really. They deserve credit.

i assume we'll be able to use the mic in the controller for the input and then output to a headset connected to the controller or console? on ps4 this software was tricky and didn't always let you do two separate outputs and inputs

Got mine today and I'm not sold on it yet. It's more hideous in person than in pictures. The texture on the back is more abrasive than the DS4, almost like a nail file, yet it's more slippery than the DS4 and provides less grip. It seems less comfortable to hold. The grips are too thick that it makes it hard for my right hand to get a comfortable placement to interact with R1,R2, face buttons, and right stick. As I hold it my pinkies grip half-way off the bottom inner edge, which at least isn't sharp but it's still an edge and its not comfy at all compared to the rounded edges of the DS4. Even the bottom outer edge of the grips push into my palms some. I was worried about these plate looking things on the controller since first seeing them and it turned out just like I had imagined. I really don't understand the choice to add hard edges to the design. There is one sharp spot on mine on the inside of the grip below the right stick, but I don't really hold it there except for with one hand off the controller and I can always sand it down with the texture on the back of my 2nd controller when that arrives. The buttons all feel good, nothing too noisy or anything. Only the d-pad is slightly too sticky of a surface and hard to slide my thumb across it, actually making a squeaky noise on the surface.

This is before playing any games with it of course. Maybe the roughness won't be so noticeable while playing. For now it's bring back painful hand memories of the Dreamcast controller, not even close to as bad though. The adaptive triggers and other features might make up for the loss in comfort once I can test that out.

My extra ps5 controller came in today. Though I can't use its features until the 12th. Its really comfortable to hold and heavier than the ds4.

Can't wait to try it on ps5.

wow.. well that's interesting, feel bad for you.. got mine last week, and seems awesome, of course can't use it yet.. but feels good in hands.

its weird that it doesn’t bother your left hand since this controller is symmetrical

Just first impressions without a game. I can probably get used to it. Hard to explain and I could be wrong. The face buttons are more spread out than the d-pad so there's that, just a tiny extra reach added with the thickness when holding down R1 and going to press triangle or circle, then going back to R2 or right stick it feels slightly less of a universal grip position compared to the thinner DS4. As for the left side, most games don't use the d-pad too much in action and I guess I hold it slightly offset anyway.

Wanting to see others opinions on it.

video and great, Sony is using the exact same Sticks. So Stick Drift will be a problem, again! I can't believe they didn't give us something better. Every single one of my DS4 had Stick Drift. I don't throw my controllers or anything before someone says that, lol.

Actually it’s been shown that Sony has changed their analog mechanism slightly. The button for the L3/R3 Press is actually on the top or northern part of the analog mechanism rather than on the eastern side. This is a big deal actually because it changes which part of the analog stick is pressed the most if I’m not mistaken.

I don’t think stick drift has much to do with the plastic analog stick itself more than the mechanism. What causes issues are the analog stick sensors inside the green analog mechanism side panels you see in the image.

It's already been mentioned above, but I can't help but think those mechanics for the triggers will wear and fail rather quickly. I mean, they are just plastic, or nylon or some other form of spaceage polymer formula. The gear teeth and the screw gear look almost guaranteed to fail within a year or two of heavy use. And you can't blame gamers for being too aggressive with them......you are not always aware of how hard you are being on the controller during an intense section of a game.

Also, it looks like the trigger uses a sort of ratcheting effect when you let go of the trigger. That too will wear quickly because it's plastic.

It looks like some of that mechanics should have used metal components for durability. But you know how corporations look at it......it only needs to last through the warranty period. And they'll be more than happy to sell you another one. Besides, plastic is cheaper than metal.

I’m hoping some good engineers out there will sell 3rd party quality steel parts for it. I’d gladly purchase if pricing is reasonable and quality is excellent.

I got small hands and was worried but the controller is fine. My kids 5-7 says its fine as well. I would like it to be 10-20% smaller if I had a choice or a option for a smaller version in the future. Not as big as I thought from pics or videos.

I am excited for the haptics. If its a gimmick I will just have my series x my main.

After all that praising, holy grail and revolution gossip i decided to open on of my PS5s instead of reselling it new (fuck those 50 bucks). Astro Bots was fun for some time, but i think when playing longer than 1 hour i would turn this off and when playing multiplayer i would immediately turn it off. Funny gimmick if the game is built around it, but nothing earth-shattering or forward-looking. I hope PSVR2 can do this.

Having used it a while now, I‘d say it’s just fine for me. Better size, weight and form factor for me than past PlayStation controllers (easily my favorite of theirs). The rumble and trigger stuff is neat when fully fleshed out like in Astrobot but nothing special in other games I’ve played. Some stuff I turn off like the trigger stuff for guns in Borderlands 3. Don’t think it adds much and as I get older I think I’m starting to get some arthritis in my trigger fingers so the added resistance in games that use them a ton isn’t great for me.

So it’s a good pad, it I still greatly prefer my Xbox Elite V1, though I get that it’s not fair to compare to a much more expensive pad and I do prefer the Dualsense to the stock XSX pad which I think looks and feels cheap. I just prefer offset sticks (learned the ropes of dual stick control on original Xbox with Halo) and having a couple paddles underneath (couldn’t wrap my brain around 4) is a game changer for dual stick games.
