No offense but why would anyone want to get an indecent port of Darkstalkers 3? Like many other 2D fighter ports on the PSX, it has many frames missing from it.
I can understand getting Alpha 3 due to it's many modes of play though (World Tour mode FTW)

A bit back I bought a $20 card for PSN for the Final Fantasy sale, but missed the sale by a day. Is there any talk of a similar classic PSone RPG sale like that in the future? I just have $20 sitting in my account doing nothing.

Live In Canada? Want to play some PSN stuff before it comes out?

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/05/01/playstation-loves-canada-youre-invited-toronto/

So here’s the formal invitation: Please join us next Tuesday for our “PlayStation <3 Canada” meetup in Toronto. You’ll get first crack at playing Canadian-born PlayStation titles such as the stereophonic side-scroller Sound Shapes (PS Vita), glorious 8-bit homage Retro City Rampage (PS3 + PS Vita), the brain-meltingly beautiful Dyad (PS3), and more that will be revealed at the event. We’ll have refreshing beverages on hand and maybe, just maybe, a musical act. Best of all, you can leave the Loonies, Toonies, hockey dollars and maple money in your wallet - this event is completely free.

Yay!

They really shouldn't have included the Killzone 3 multiplayer on that list, it's just the trial version that is already free anyway (though to be fair it shows that with the "was £0.00"). Just causes confusion.

Very cheap. I also noticed that the video said that PixelJunk Monsters is coming to Vita on May 15.

I didn't even see the video...

Even if that is just Deluxe, if it has trophies... I'm buying a Vita, my GF and I love the game.

Edit: Appears they are 'enabling' certains games, including Monsters via firmware? Sadness ensues.

Wow, that is one hell of a sale. If you even have a passing interest in those games, i'd recommend picking up all of them. Especially the 4 1$ games. Crikey.

Zombie Tycoon 2 ditching headed to PSN. PS3/Vita and not Minis! Has cross play support.

Gamasutra.
I really wish I understood the whole software situation with SCEA/SCEE.

It appears that SCEA gets lots of new PS3 software earlier.

However, SCEE gets minis and more PS2 classics earlier.

Is there a simple explanation for this? I understand there are many minis devs in Europe, so that makes some kind of sense. But why PS2 classics? Is the team doing these conversions somehow an EU team?

Licensing stuff I guess.
I thought about that. You'd think in EU, with so many different territories, that the licensing would be harder, not easier.

But then it occurred to me that perhaps the EU licensing was so flexible (because of the inhomogeneity of the laws in each country) that it was somehow more amenable to digital distribution.

Minis is simple, it was yet another SCEE idea that SCEA didn't give a shit about and let flounder, despite its success in Europe (see: Singstar, Eyetoy and Buzz) and at the time, the impending collapse of the PSP market.

I'm pretty sure SCEA gets PS3 software earlier because a) SCEE QA can be dicks, delaying games like Trine 2 for months, and b) The US is a higher priority for most developers and publishers. I've read a few interviews where the interviewee said they'd submitted their game to SCEA and would only submit to SCEE once that was done. I imagine it's done to save money (better to pay for one and find out about any bugs than to pay for both) but yeah.

As for PS2 classics, I'm not sure. SCEE pushes them through QA faster I guess? Licensing could be a reason I guess, since most of the EU PS2 Classics lineup is comprised of Midas Entertainment shovelware and they probably don't have many licensing issues.

The whole thing would work a hell of a lot better if they actually worked together on a unified PSN and games only had to be submitted to QA once. But this is Sony, shitty communication between divisions is their thing.

SCEE doesn't accept SCEA QA, that is why for instance Mortal Kombat got the okay in America and a no in Europe. They're a bit more strict about bugs.

The differing QA processes in SCE regions still continues to baffle the ever loving fuck out of me. Its a video game, so if it gets approved in one place, release the damn thing in the other place. Mental.

Is that so? that would explain why we still don't have Pinball Arcade... interesting

Anyone in the UK know if the Doctor Who PSN game was released at retail today?

Edit: NVM, It looks like they've now moved the retail release back to the 25th.

I'll be purchasing I Am Alive if it's part of the "huge" Ubisoft sale next week. 50% off everything if you have Plus.

Is Farsight Studios licensed as a European publisher? The game is self-published so they wouldn't just need a license to develop, but also to publish.
