Madden has been great for a while and the people who say otherwise haven't been playing it
And Madden 18 has enough caveats to make it worth $60....if it works at launch

Nier: Automata is a decent game but not GOTY material. Its combat mechanics are decent at best but most of the time they are garbage mainly because the majority of the game you fight same monsters over and over again who are already push overs to begin with so you never have to do anything other than spamming dodge. The game's difficulty is fucked as well. Entirely too easy on normal but too punishing on hard or very hard because of the lack of checkpoints. I also cannot understand why it is checkpointed the way it is. It doesn't save your progress without accessing save points in the world expect for the times it does. So inconsistent. The majority of the bosses are garbage. Open world is boring. The side quests are boring and only give you a bit of lore not all of them and almost all of them are fetch quests/escort missions. The only saving grace for this game is its story, which is good, but not life altering nor does it make me ignore all the other issues the game has. I'll probably get flamed for this but its just an average game to me.
It is a bad game for me solely because of 1. fanservice and 2. the stupid achievement for looking at the girl's underwear

Grow up, developers.

I haven't played madden at all since '10, but I want 18 at least for story mode. Plus frost bite looks cool.

Danganronpa 1 is a horrid game and maybe one of the worst I have ever played, not because it's shoddily made (as most games that are seen as "bad" are), but because at its core it is misguided and absolutely unlikable. Everything, from the presentation, to the writing, to the game mechanics, is mediocre at best and a travesty at worst.

Going on to play a little bit of Danganronpa 2 hoping it was improvement made me want to shoot myself in my head.

Persona 5 has the worst UI I have ever seen. It's ugly, bloated and that fucking gigantic comma on the conversation text box that won't ever stop moving is driving me insane. I can't play it unless somebody does a minimalistic UI mod. Also, i don't see a camera and movement that controls this poorly since Final Fantasy XIII.

Persona 4 helped me with depression. 5 on just the first hour is making it come back.

Guess I will try to sell it and give another try to P3 Portable.

Vehicular combat is what separates Battlefield as a multiplayer series, and the lack of compelling vehicular combat makes BF1 a much less enjoyable experience than 4.

The Witcher 3 has a world filled with narrative but no passive character or life to it, it also doesn't feel like a world as much as a series of interconnected paths and towns.

The Last of Us is far too slow in the beginning and drags to the detriment of the game.

Mario Sunshine was a solid title for the series, despite not being on par with the others.

Silent Hill 4's premise is way more interesting than any silent hill so far.

The premise is certainly more interesting than in the 1st and 3rd entry, but the execution is severely lacking. I hated the item limit, the constant back and forth travel to the apartment, the unkillable ghosts that stood in the way of exploring, and the repeated areas of the latter half with a passion.

No Man's Sky was actually quite enjoyable, regardless of all the negative feedback they got for not having multiplayer at launch. The small team did something that no other game has ever done and took the limit off of exploration games at a whole other level.

Easily one of my favorite sandbox games ever.

Visual Novels are not games even if they have a few paths. Reading a book 1 line at a time is the most frustrating way to absorb that content. I hear The House in Fata Morgana has a great story, but unless someone puts it in book form I'll have nothing to do with it.

I really dont like Splatoon 2... few game modes, multiplayer that has weird and terrible design decisions and the game itself is so simple and boring :/

Re 4,5,6 are really bad RE game and average tps at best.

I won't give you 4, 6 is a given but 5 is my least liked of any I've played. Awful right from the get-go and probably the reason I tolerated 6; the bar had been dug six feet under the ground.

I agree.
Honestly don't get all this hype for 4.
1,2 and 3 are the GOAT

I'd attest that liking 4, 5 and especially 6 is the more controversial opinion on GAF anyway

I love all three for different reasons.

I played REmake for the first time recently and I can understand peoples frustration with how the series changed so drmatocally, but to call them acerage tps really does them a disservice and neglects the unique experience they created.

The hype and praise for literally every Zelda game in existence not named Tri Force Heroes is ridiculous and completely blinded by fanboy goggles.

Edit: And before you come for me, I still think the series is great.

I honestly consider 5 to be one of the worst third person shooters I've ever played.

As a Zelda fan which do you think is most overhyped?

The Wind Waker (96 metacritic), Twilight Princess (96), Skyward Sword (93), all grossly overrated video games.

Wind Waker was my favourite Zelda up until Breath of the Wild, what about it do you think people praise unnecessarily, or is it just the general fanfare? I honestly think the reception to it opened Zelda up to a lot of the games we enjoy now and was quite a bold move for Nintendo at the time.

Twilight Princess I agree with you on though and didn't realise it had the same score as WW. It was the first Zelda that I had to come back to because it didn't sustain my interest enough. I didn't own a Wii so missed out on Skyward Sword.

I don't see anything controversial in this post.

Now this is an interesting opinion. I often wonder if VNs are games myself. I think those interactive movies or "walking simulators" are questionable too.

Isn't this how most people feel about it?

I mean, if the only games you play are vapid Platinum brawlers or standard FPSs, then the story is probably legitimately impressive. I thought the ending, in particular, was very well done, but the questions it raises about continuity and consciousness have been handled better in other games (SOMA, namely). It's good for what it is, but the tacked on open world and narrative padding make the middle bits a slog.

herrrr didn't played SOMA (yet) but i can't remember a story that well done in video game for a while. The whole game explore what's humanity is in a number of way that is quite impressive, in the end most characters are inhumane... Continuity and consciousness are only a part of what the game is about for me.

And seriously, even if you had like, 5 other exemple beside SOMA, that still mean the game is quite impressive to achieve what a lot of other game can't.

( I loved the side quests in this game...)

How else are you supposed to read a book?

Lol I think I know what you mean but... Lol

Typically one word at a time, one line at a time is harder to achieve I find.

If the thought was not clear - the concept is that when reading from a page you can absorb words as fast as your brain can handle. The visual novel requires a timer to decide how long each line appears and restricts the flow (or worse forces you to press a button).

Apparently i'm the only person on GAF who doesn't like P3. And P4Golden. So there's my hot take

Original P3 doesn't have party control so I don't like it. I don't find P4G impressive either. The fact that GAF voted it the second most essential RPG (not JRPG, RPG) is simply mind-blowing. It's like GAF is living in an alternative universe where all the great RPGs don't exist. Or my P4G copy is missing all the good part of it.

Seriously, WTF?

Scalpers are possibly amoral, but their actions are completely sensible and justifiable within the context of free market capitalism and I hold no ill will towards them. Additionally, people who buy from scalpers aren't stupid or making a wrong decision, they're trading off the trouble of having to hunt down whatever item they're trying to find for having to pay a higher price.

Also, if you have the money to buy from scalpers, then resorting to piracy instead of buying from them is arguably immoral.
