If you set the color space to YPbPr in the settings and then set your pvm to component then it'll work just fine. I was watching some DVDs 2 days ago via my SCART cable using that method. In fact when playing a DVD you just have to push the component button and it'll work without a having to go to the settings just remember to switch it back to RGB when you're finished watching the DVD. I was also unaware that YPbPr could be output though SCART but it totally can at least on the PS2. Makes outputting to my OSSC way easier using regular component cables instead of those BNC to Male SCART cables. If you're using a consumer CRT then I have no idea how you would set that up.

Oh I see. Well the PS2 automatically changes color space to YPbPr when playing a DVD and as far as I know there is no way to change natively. I heard an action replay works (action replay max I think) since it comes with DVD region X which gets rid of the green tint and also allows you to play DVDs from any region. Not entirely sure if there is a way to do that with a softmodded PS2, I haven't tried it with mine. I'll get back to you if I find anything.

Got my RGB AV Famicom from catabarez. Looking great on my monitor. Now I want to get an RGB cable for my PS2 and a solid switcher and I think I will be mostly set for equipment. I've talked some in here about going to a larger Trinitron but I think I'm going to scrap that plan because my current setup is so close to being finalized and I don't feel like starting all over with a huge TV.

You can get a scart cable that specifically has a port for putting in the composite cable so they work properly, such as the one from RetroGamingCables

It's really frustrating trying to search for this. Lots of products claiming "4K" but it's actually 4K30. Other stuff with "4K60" but it's actually YUV 4:2:0. Then there are products just lying about HDMI 2.0. Then there are stuff that people say is HDMI 2.0 but they're wrong.
And all of them show up in search results no matter what I add, since people mention the keywords in reviews. Bah

So I got my HDRetrovision Component cable and sadly my Panny doesn't like 240p over component via SFC, I get a flashing image.
Frustrating, but it works with my RGB N64, which looks glorious!

Was the same for me. The top half of the image was jittery. The Genesis ones worked fine. Just decided I'm going to sell them, so anyone interested here can PM...
You'll need some a way to convert your consoles signal to RGBHV or VGA in order to use it with the monitor so something like an extron in order to extract the correct sync signal from your consoles. You then need some RCA female to BNC Male connectors which you can get from Amazon.

That CRT is a PC monitor so it will be good for any 480p console you may have like a Dreamcast (using VGA), OG Xbox, Gamecube, Wii, 360 (using VGA as well), PS2 and PS3 even considering the resolution of that monitor or for playing some retro PC games. Anything older won't work unless line doubled since PC monitors are 31khz and won't like the 15khz signal that older 240p consoles produce.
What cables are you using? Also what's the exact model number of the TV?

Yeah that should work fine actually since you'd upscale the signal to something the monitor can support but some adapters might require additional power so keep that in mind. Something like this could work

Yes I know but like I said before all he needs is a VGA cable to use with the consoles that have them or component with an extron in order to extract H/V sync since the monitor requires it. He asked if he could use his framemeister to make his older consoles compatible with the monitor and all I'm saying is that he could if he used a HDMI to VGA adapter. The monitor itself is a 31khz monitor so simply plugging in your old consoles wouldn't work and he'd need a line doubler or a scaler to make them work. But your right a framemeister or HDMI device isn't really needed but I assume it's all he has right now. I hope he has a framemeister and wasn't asking if he should get one just for this because I don't recommend that.

Yeah I agree but sometimes you wanna try convoluted things with what you have just to see how it goes (at least I do sometimes) not as a long term solution though.
dhonk I think you should ultimately look into getting a line doubler if you plan on using the Monitor as your main setup since like sixfortyfive says the outcome would be much better and also less complicated.

Hmm and you've tried other consoles and there is not shaky picture on those? If it isn't the cables or the transcoder and other consoles look fine then there must be something up with the Genesis or at least how the TV processes its signal which isn't weird or anything like the SNES to my knowledge. I did find other people having the same problem with these TVs but not with a Genesis just in general with any console specifically through the component input which doesn't seem to be case here.

This looks great, thanks. Looks a little cleaner than others I've seen with a dongle-looking piece attached.
Got my Pal Gamecube in today and it works perfectly with the HD Retrovision Cables and Gameboy Interface. It a little annoying to get INTO The menu, as I have to hook up my spare composite cables to my 4K TV to navigate Swiss, as the signal on my CRT not surpising likes Pal up until I get into GBI.
That said, once I am in there, it looks VERY nice. Loses the blurriness I saw on the GBI with my S-Video cable on my NTSC Gamecube.

Got my hands on a Sony PVM-1341 last week. Actually two, but the first one had a ghosting/burn in issue and blurring. The second one is damn near pristine! It's a great addition to my BVM-8045QD

OSSC. I have used mine with a CRT PC monitor and the results are nice. It's a pretty sound hardware investment, as you'll definitely get utility out of it elsewhere as well.

For every retro gamer that is lusting for a nice old CRT, there are a dozen people on Craigslist that just want it the fuck out of their house.
Does it almost looks like two solid horizontal rows of single faint pixels, if you were to divide your screen into thirds? A lot of old PC CRT's had this. I think it had something to do with the picture tube used. I had a Dell Trinitron flatscreen CRT that suffered from this back in the day.
Sounds like those are damper wires used to keep the aperture aligned. I have them on my Daimondtron and Lacie CRTs too.
Yeah, it's normal, if it bugs you then you'd want a shadow mask CRT but I think they tend to have some degree of curvature which some people don't like.
CRTs are magic, the motion clarity alone is worth using them.

Which is weird, because he's a pastor, but apparently, there's a hooker problem where he lives, and it was for some community outreach thing. I don't know, who cares.
