I'm sure it's cheaper to hire a hooker to play as your "girlfriend" for an hour than to try to outright buy a 20l5 in good condition.

Yeah the going price for a PVM-20L5 right now seems to be about $900. Fucking insane.

Just because he's a pastor doesn't mean he's a good man lol.

I mean it depends on your standards nah mean. Like do you want to be seen in public with her or do you just want to get your Jimmy wet ?

Edit:eek:kay I looked at Toronto for you. Seems like $80 will get you 45 min of fun with "Jessica Rabbit". Either you get the new call a dooty or you get her. Seems like an easy choice to me !

45 min of plugging those scart cables?

What part of GFE didn't you understand? Yeah, she's gotta be a classy lady you can take to like a restaurant or some shit, but she eats like a bird cuz you're not paying for dinner AND dessert, if you catch my drift. Like I ain't tryna pick up some girl in a GameStop. Big Game Hunter, sans Cabela.

Edit: Is that $80 CAD, or USD? Asking for a friend.

80cad so that's like nothing to you americans. You don't even think it's real money!

From the sounds of it 80 will do the whole experience for you. 40 minutes at McDonald's then 5 minutes in the sheets. You don't want to spend time with her after right ?

Shit. Soon it's going to be cheaper to get an ossc and an OLED.

this is becoming the neo geo thread version 2.0

Chac and I seem to destroy threads.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Correct. I don't think I'll have much in common with a girl who'll get dicked down in a McDonald's bathroom for that kinda chump change.

^LOL this thread is all over the place but making me laugh.

Oh gosh when you put it like that you just make me want to get an OLED and call it a day with retro gaming on a PVM. Maybe one day I can fund an OLED+OSSC purchase like that

Yeah, OLED is kinda the promised land, in a lot of ways. I like the bigger screen size I get with modern displays, but OLED seems to remedy a lot of the lingering issues with LCD picture quality. I'm not sure if the current batch of screens is a good jumping in point, or if I should wait for next year's refresh, but I'm kinda itching to get a new TV at some point. Obviously, having to consider HDR and all the variants thereof makes this whole thing needlessly complicated... and that's probably why I haven't bothered yet.

But I'm convinced. OLED+OSSC is going to be awesome.

I have a 55" ks8000(quantum dot, not an oled) and an ossc and it looks God damn fantastic and has tolerable input delay!

I don't think it'll pass the NES Jackal Final Boss test.

Seriously, give it a couple tries on a CRT and then go to a Framemeister. I dare you.

I was horrified by the lag.

Thanks. No scart options in guessing then?

And no way to use an external controller either right 😂 I know I'm probably dreaming

yeah, cradle + ds3 is what you want. there may be scart cables... that's a good question. the component looks great for 240p psx games... less so for 480i psp games imo

The OSSC is essentially lagless compared to the Framemeister. In an OSSC setup, the perceived input lag would be attributed to the monitor/screen/TV.

When I got the OSSC I did a lag test between my 14" PVM, 20" PVM, and an ASUS monitor, and the amount of lag between the 20" and the monitor was ~1 frame, essentially negligible. Testing between my KS8000 and my 20", it's roughly 2-3.

I'm real picky when it comes to input delay and my ks8000 has 18ms of input delay which is quite low for a TV and getting close to gaming monitors. I can perform 1 frame links in fighters with ease on it. With the OSSC and a proper TV I gaurentee you'll get used to it in minutes.

Yeah, it's the TV's lag that I'm thinking will still be noticeable.

But yeah, I've put money down for an OSSC that will probably take the place of my Framemeister when it arrives. Will find out if it's any kind of significant improvement soon.

When I was 15 I met a beautiful girl playing diablo 2. Turns out she was actually a girl and I married her last year!

We got a winner! I can't improve on that

Nice thats amazing. I met this cool punk-rock girl in Jr high. We became friends in High School and shared a few classes together. I asked her if she was going to prom and she said she wasn't planning on it because her fiance is in the Navy (sad.gif). I was planning on asking her and had no clue. Fast forward 5 years later I ran into said punk-rock girl who was now a women and not-as-punk-rock. We've been married for 10 years now. Couldn't be happier.

I kind of want to get boxes for my favorite games and maybe box up all my gb/gbc/gba games into their DS style cases. Anyone had any experience with this company. I really would like to buy 50 DS cases right now and box my games but but its a lot of money for a first order.

I thought you guys were talking about me when you posted about the 20L5 because I had just put mine up for sale a couple hours before, then I clicked, yeah um,ok no. Lol

I took the listing down,I had about 5 replies in about an hour and got guilt ridden and just ended the auction. This is the holy grail, and while $1000 would be really nice right now I know I'd regret it later. I've got three other PVM's but they are nothing compared to the 20L5.

I don't suppose anyone would be willing to part with their gscartsw? I'm looking at the Hydra now but their arent that many reviews on it.

BTW just wanted to thank catabarez for the RGB modded NES. This thing is fucking beautiful! I'm so used to composite on an NES that seeing it in RGB is mindblowing.

Haha, was playing Shatterhand on the RGB modded AV Famicom I bought from catabarez just last night! I'm also so used to playing NES via composite. It's been 30 years! PVM made it look pretty good but this obviously blows the doors off the thing. I love it.

Bah, so jealous! I sent my NES off to be rgb modded today. I can't wait! I've been playing NES since the late 80's and always via composite. #soon #pleasebeexcited

I'd sell my 20L5 in a heartbeat for 1000usd. Unfortunately I live in the land down under aka Land of cheapskates "give you $200 for it mate" then when you respectfully decline you receive abuse 😂😂😂

Mentioned it before, but man I am loving using the HD Retrovision Cables with a Pal Gamecube with a Gameboy Player using Swiss/GBI. It a bit of a pain to start up GBI as I have to use my tv to navigate, but man I am loving the results compared to S-Video on my NTSC Gamecube.

So, a large company in my general area that I may or may not work at was hosting a party tonight, since Casual Connect is in town, and my friend was like "yo, I'll be your wingman, how bad can it be out here?" I'm like, "p. bad." And he was like "naw."

Two crazy fucking girls later, he's like "yo, I'm glad I got married before this millennial shit."

So about those hookers.

There's been a couple in NZ, and both sold for big money.

You just need two idiots bidding it up.

Think I’m gonna get a professionally calibrated and refurbed 20L5 off craigslist for $900.. My 20M4U’s geometry is kinda fucked no matter what I do in the service menu and has a dark spot in it. Will store it as a backup.

Awe that's sweet. My wife always had a boyfriend but we stayed in touch and luck would have it she ended up going to university about 2 hours from me and was now single!

Back on topic, I tried the custom box route and ultimately decided they just arent original boxes and they don't have the same look or feel. I've flipped alot of my cart only shit and I only do CIB now.

LOL the last time I was in the dating game smart phones didn't exist. I'm only 30 but I feel like I'd be fucking lost in today's scene.

What the hell happened to this thread. I stop paying attention for a day and it turns into the Escort OT.

Anyway, I imagine any escort that only asks for 80 (especially CAD) has a meth problem.

Don't shit on the CAD! We are climbing thanks to Trump tanking an entire country.

Baller.

I'd pay that much if I knew of some sort of CRT repair shop that can help maintain it. But $900 for such aging/fragile tech at this point seems like a rough gamble. I see the value in it, but I'd be kicking myself if I dropped 900 bones and it died on me within a year or something.

Even the most common of CRTs that are capable of S-Video or better will still look pretty good to my eyes. Yes, BVMs and some PVMs look other-worldly, but I really only got back into the CRT thing because of the lack of lag and genuine 240p/480i native displays. The high end RGB stuff is just icing on the cake.

On the other hand, I'm totally rationalizing my hesitation to drop that kind of dough. Deep down, I want a 20l5 and a companion widescreen BVM to go with it.

I assume the HD retrovision cables are going through the main AV port and not the digital? So really they're converting the RGB signal to component color space?

That's not a bad idea honestly. I'm sure it's probably capped at 240p/480i, but probably looks just as good as 1st party cables.

Yeah it on the AV out port. Both my Pal and NTSC do have the digital out ports still, but the HD Retrovision cable only works on the Pal AV out, as it gets no picture with the NTSC one. I never knew this was possible until watching the My Life in Gaming video about the Gameboy, as they bring it up before getting into Gameboy mods.

I still feel like our dollar is going to drop again and even more this time over the next few months. The housing market actually looking like it will crash for once is the scariest part about it.

<not retro and not av>
Risk of a housing market crash has been built into the undervalued dollar for a while now.
