Goddamn. I was like "3 isn't even OUT yet!" but then remembered that was the U.S. side. Awesome.
3's not out outside of Japan yet, neither is Kenzan! or whatever it was.

It's annoying, I'd like to play them.

This franchise can rot in hell for all I care if Sega doesn't get their head out of their ass and brings these games stateside.

wow this sucks a lot, the only ones that i could play were yakuza 1 and 2, damn i was hoping that sega would publish yakuza 3 to the US but with the announcement of yakuza 4 it will never come out bummer.

Looks like Sega found their Final Fantasy....talk about milking.

Oh come on :lol ! THIS is milking??? This is no where near the milking that square-enix does. I am not even sure if this is milking, to be honest.

Anyways, I might have to import the 3rd one now since it won't come here at all now ( is it still ok to have some hope?).

I still haven't got around to 3 yet... I should really pick it up some time. I loved 1, 2 and Kenzan and was really excited for 3, but for some reason I just never bought it. I guess I can blame Demon's Souls for consuming all of my gaming time around the time of its release.

I guess SEGA will just give us something like ..

Sonic the gangasta : Blue Dragon-hog or Sonic VS Ninja : Tokyo Street Clash

I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce!
I really can't believe Sega is stupid enough to leave Yakuza 3 (Kenzan I can kinda understand) in Japan and then announce the fourth game. And this is coming from someone who lives in Japan :/

Probably still reusing animations from the PS2 game.

as long as they also use some these animations, I don't mind.

didn't they say, they are working on a spinoff or something ("not Yakuza 4 / not Kenzan 2")?
I would LOVE to see a Yakuza game set in the near future, in a Neo-Tokio Version similar to the one in Ghost in the Shell (SAC). IMO, that would fit with Yakuza AND would be an awesome/interesting setting for an (action-)RPG.

btw:
in case you missed it, you can vote for the finalist of the new ingame hostesses :lol

pornstars, real hostesses etc. I bet that was a fun audition

Didn't Nintendo do something similar with the Mario games?

I don't think a Japanese sequel precludes a US release any more than Kenzan did. Though if Sega's other US titles don't start picking up..

no , actually before the fami announcement on RGG4 few month ago , SEGA even wanted Toshihiro Nagoshi team at Amusement Vision and Overworks Valkyria Chronicles team to make some western games ..Capcom style..

but I guess SEGA scrapped the idea now ( since they announced RGG4 and VC2 ) and will stay hire 3rd party developers to make SEGA "western " games .

Hopefully this means 3 will be out on The Best soon so I can get it for cheaps

I wonder if they're gonna kill Kiryuu off in this one?

The new title will be known as Ryu ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu wo Tsugu Mono. The Japanese translates, roughly, to "The One Who Succeeds the Legend."

While Sega has yet to share solid details on the game, it did provide first character and voice actor information today. Typical of the series, Sega will be making use of an all-star cast. Actors Hiroki Narimiya and Kenta Kiritani will feature in the game. Narimiya will play the role of Masayoshi Tanimura, a detective in Kamiyacho, the main setting of the series. Kiritani will play the role of Takeshi Kido, a member of the Toujoukai mob, which has also appeared in past Gotoku games.

The presence of Kamiyacho and Toujoukai appears to confirm that the new Gotoku game will take place in modern times. Series general producer Toshihiro Nagoshi hinted at this in interviews during the game's initial announcement a few months back.
