Also, you must love that lcd tv. :lol

I'm not Chinese. Actually, you can see my picture in one of the last office pictures (it's on my wfie's side of the desk; she is white). I used to live in Japan when I was younger and the asian motif just kind of stuck with me. As soon as we had some money, we started buying Chinese and Japanese themed items when we could. It just kind of resonates with us.

That LCD was our first major purchase together. It pretty much sucks (so much ghosting and only 720p). We are going to replace where the whiteboard is with another 50" we have, but we haven't gotten around to it. The other 50" is an older model that will only be used to display the final output for video/film we're working on.

Lol at quoting all 30 pictures !

I know... I laughed so hard when I saw that. Then I said "wat?"

Old pic but desk /fistbump

It is such a nice desk. I've stood on it and had TVs and computers sitting on it and the thing doesn't budge. I love it! One of the best purchases I've EVER made when it's come to office furniture.

Fresh Curves. It was a PS+ exclusive at the time I got it after the PSN fiasco, not sure about now.
Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I couldn't find it neither on the EU PSN nor on the US one. Maybe they removed it or simply the search function doesn't work right.

The maps are great, but you might find you like them visually more if you took down half of them, spread the others around your apartment, and framed them all. Framing doesn't cost much and makes a big difference aesthetically.

Something as simple as the frames Tabris is using on his would be fine; a nice black frame with a nice white mat.

I framed that big map that came with Skyrim and it's hanging above my desk, looks awesome. Might frame my Oblivion and Morrowind maps, too.

You're right, I can't find it at all either. Wonder if they pulled it?
Anyway, the Bacon dynamic theme is a good alternative lol.

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I basically just gave up on trying to make my apartment look as mint as possible. It's a student apartment, so there's not a ton I can do, and I'm a youngun, so I can't afford nice things.

But since I don't give a fuggg anymore, I'll probably take pics of my setup in the next few weeks... after my speakers get here. If nothing else, it's fodder for the "let's see how our setups have evolved" thing a couple years from now.

Nick GTL, your shit is nice.

I might clean up the cables for next year's edition

Are the lights of those lamps really that bright or is it the camera?
I'm thinking of buying some of those myself. Ikea right?

It's just the camera on evaluative metering mode. They're not overly bright. They give the room a nice 3400K kind of glow. It's real relaxing. I have them in my office now for when I'm working on something at night and don't need color accuracy.

Has anyone made their own custom cabinets or shelving? I am personally thinking about building a custom media tower for all of my movies, games, blu rays, etc.

I was wondering what issues you guys ran into (if any) and what ideas some of you may have. Also how difficult was it? I am pretty handy when it comes to building stuff but I am also new to starting from scratch. I am also wondering what you spent. I am going to make it out of a finished pine (sanded, smoothed, just needs stain), and it was about $22.00 for an 8' x 2' x 3/4".

Home Depot will cut all of the wood to my desired length for free, so I will just need screws/nails, stain, and some wood glue.

Before the turn of the century my gaming setup looked like this:
hp1.jpg

(Yeah I was fat, I was 260. I ended up dropping 80 pounds shortly after that)

For the past decade this has been my gaming setup:

Of course the computer was regularly updated but more often than not it looked like this:

As for consoles:
tv.jpg

TVs got bigger, game systems were updated but that was the setup.

The reason why I'm showing my past setups is because I finally got a new one. My wife and I also painted the room, removed the carpet to expose the hardwood floors.

I feel all modernized, organized and stuff. :)

You'll find better advice on a woodworking forum, but for a simple rack I can say that you just need to be obsessive about making sure everything is cut perfectly because the more pieces you try to fit together the tighter your tolerances get. Pine is very easy to work with. And if you mess up you're just out a few bucks and can go buy more.

if it's my own personal ideas you want, well... you might notice, for instance, the large black monstrosity on the far left. No, further left, past the monitors and the subwoofer, also large and black.

UOAA0.jpg

looking closer, you notice its use of medium density fibreboard rather than wood, due to a desire for greater rigidity and lower cost. Also, you might notice its bizarre finish, resulting in something that looks vaguely like a melted candle. This indicates to you that the creator did not entirely understand how to sand things when he built it. You'll also note how the top shelf is just tall enough for the gamecube lid to open comfortably. The golden ratio is in everything.

a quick glance at the side shows off the elite ventilation system, also known as minimizing the use of materials while simultaneously advancing both form and function.

so that has probably convinced you against doing anything I might have done. PM me if you want, and I can tell you how I built it so you can do the opposite.

Sorry to hear that :(

So do you play PC games with mouse only?

That's ok. It never bothers me. Well, except I can't play a bunch of wii games. On games that I use the mouse, my right hand is only good for hitting the space bar.

With a few exceptions, I prefer using the 360 controller for most games. Here is a pic of me holding the controller.

My basement is finally (almost) done, been working on it on and off for over five years.

I'll start upstairs, in the family room:

This room took forever since I had no idea how to finish a basement and had to learn along the way. I've been collecting this stuff since before the Jackets played a single game.

And yeah, I already know the team sucks, so please don't remind me. ;)

Strap on your hooker ...
That's a rad air hockey table. Whole room is class, of course. Great theming.

Hope you don't lose your team like we lost ours!

Have you looked into one of these to make holding the controller more comfortable for you?

http://www.avengercontroller.com/

I know there was that big blow up over the CS rep, but the product is actually really great. I know a guy who has no control of his left arm (it twitches around but he can't physically control it). He had a chance to fiddle with one awhile back and said it was pretty godly.

If I hadn't been in his house before, I'd swear you were my boss. He likes the Jackets as much as you. Oh, yeah they suck. :)

The lighting doesn't really allow for good picture taking but anyway:

TV is 46 inch, looks smaller in the photo. Need to buy some clips to sort out the cables.

That CBJ house is awesome. I have a spare room with goalie gear laying about (mine). And a few souvenir Jackets pucks.

I'll probably post some photos of my current setup along with what it used to be once the new page has hit.

It's basically a sofa bed, costs a little more than the Poang but I was wondering if it is in fact more comfortable.

Poang + footstool rocks. I've got a pair in my "media room" (aka game room with projector) & love 'em for the price.

Well here goes. First up my current setup:

Living room

Bedroom

Computer room

7hHpH.jpg

I've been living on my own for about 6 months now. Still have a lot of stuff to do, but I'm pretty satisfied with the living room and the bedroom for the most part. Still need to get myself a wireless PS2 controller and hookup the PS2 in the bedroom. The TV-stand in the living room hides my PS3 & 360.The computer room is by far the messiest and most unfinished place in my house. I'll probably end up painting my desk and my old TV-stand in the computer room glossy white to match the rest of the house. What you can't see is the washing rack on the right side of my office chair. It really completes the messy nature of the room.
I also need to put up some more artwork/photos in my house because the walls are still bland as hell.

This is what it used to look like a couple of months ago:

Biggest change being the awesome new TV-stand that I got second hand for €40.
