The music was the worst part of the first game.

It was a little bit more tolerable than the bad voice acting.

I've at least become fond of the music throughout the years. It eventually gets embedded into your memory.

I always liked the song that played during the final battle, but that's about it for the first game, really.

One of the things about the game that bothered me the most was Brad's little annoying cat ruffian creature especially when it meowed as you chased it down the stairs. I couldn't wait to kill that stupid thing.

- Confusing story
- Bad voice acting
- Ugly graphics
- Cumbersome controls
- Forgettable music

Thank goodness for the satisfying gameplay.

Oh, that sticks all right. To the wall. That is one farty wet noodle of a song, sir.

Sorry, that's harsh. But seriously. The original music is baaaaaaad.
Just not very useful.

The more I see of this the more I think Treasure really should be the ones Ninty should ask to do Star Fox...

I don't even like Star Fox and I totally agree. If anyone, Treasure could probably make a badass Star Fox game. Make it happen Nintendo!!

Say what now? S&P had some of the best graphics on the N64; Level 2-2 was mind-blowing. Sure individual character models were incredibly low poly, but that was a necessary sacrifice to get 50 of them on screen at once.

Despite being a huge Sin & Punishment fan, while I liked some of the enemy character models and some of the level designs, the character models were really ugly. For the record, my favorite level is the flying battleship stage.

I think Treasure could make an awesome new Starfox game in terms of level design and gameplay but not sure about their ability to handle the graphics and music. Perhaps Retro Studios could do the job.

Played through the game again not too long ago. Still an amazing stage, even after all these years. I hope S&P 2 has at least one comparable stage. Preferably two, since it's supposed to be a longer.

How stupid would it be of me to get this without having played S&P?
I really don't want to start playing a 3D shooting game with a analog aiming where soon enough there will be a sequel obviously better that has a pointer. It makes so much of a difference. I can barely play Starfox 64 now.

It's an arcade shooter.
Story, characters, sequel connections... all of that is fundamentally secondary, IMHO.

Then again, the first can be downloaded for like $12. Might be worth the trip, even if you think SF64 is unplayable now (WTF?)...

Someone never played on a N64 controller.
It is not the game`s fault (or developer`s fault) that the game is cumbersome on the system it was not meant to be played on.

Is it sad that I still managed to enjoy this on a Gamecube controller?

I'm not a fan of the cut scenes, but I am a fan of the bucket loads of things to shoot. Man, looks like it's going to be one hectic ride.

The 2D part in the Japanese TV spots a bit worrying though. It seems like it moves away from the frantic action =\

True, I never played Sin & Punishment on the N64. I don't blame the developer for the Wii controll schemes but the the fact of the matter is the game still has a learning curve and the controls are cumbersome and I wouldn't call them intuitive. However, they are pretty easy to get used to with some practice.

For me, I found Sin & Punishment's controls to be fairly complex at first which prevented me from thoroughly enjoying the game using the GameCube controller with the game's 3rd control scheme setting. I eventually mastered it so the controls feel natural to me.

As for the N64 controller, Treasure stated that "The idea behind that project [Sin & Punishment] was basically to make a game that used the left-hand position on the Nintendo 64 controller, since not too many other games did that."

Here's the article.

The best way to play it on VC is with the classic controller. In fact, I think it's better than the N64 controller. I never played it in the left handed position though. It was kind of awkward being that every other FPS on N64 controlled on the right side which is the genre the controls align with most. I image S&P2 will control very similar to MP3 with the only exception being that you're stuck on a 2D plane.

Yeah, I've heard that many gamers do like using that controller for the game.Unfortunately, I don't own a Classic controller but I may purchase a Pro classic controller in the future. Still, I can play S&P just fine with the GC controller.

I am going to be very disappointed if S&P2's story isn't as confusing as the story of the first one.

The kids look like junkies but otherwise, awesome! Great main theme. I only wish anime style games didn't have these primitive pop ballad songs (e.g. like in Fragile), it's getting annoying.

I loved the unorthodox soundtrack of the first game, it's one of my fave N64 soundtracks. Sounds like some weird sort of buttrock crossed with porno-sounding lounge music.

The Famitsuu score has me PUMPED!

- Sin & Punishment 2 (8/8/8/7, 31 points): The new Treasure game received a fair bit of excitement from Famitsu's editors, despite the usual Treasure-like challenge. "The game's remarkably compatible with the Wii remote," one wrote. "Aiming takes a while to get used to, but I couldn't imagine playing any other way by now." Criticisms included the long length of some stages, although "there are a lot of checkpoints, so replaying isn't that much of a pain."

Those minuses sound like pluses to me!

Yeah, I feel the same way. I personally don't trust Famitsu review scores.

Anyway, we all know that the fact that the game is a sequel to Sin & Punishment means that the game is going to be awesome.
