Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

I don't give a shit about the male character if they're drawn in speedos as long as their over a certain age. I find sexualised fan are of Annie creepy as fuck because she's a little girl/boy.

Look, think of it this way: the genie has left the bottle. You can't put it back in again. It's not like if Annie loses, all that fanart that has made you uncomfortable will magically disappear and artists will never draw her again. The same goes for Minette or Venus or whoever else. She's already caught a vast amount of attention through this campaign and she's clearly already caught the interest of those 'creepy' fan-artists, and they'll presumably keep drawing her regardless of whether she wins or loses. So just choosing not to vote for her purely because of how you feel about the fanart seems ridiculous - especially when, again, it's as easy as not looking for it. I'm sure that if I looked hard enough, I'd find a shitload of Peacock or Double rule 34, but I don't want to look for it, and thus I never see it. And while I can't vouch for communities like /sgg/, most people on GAF are polite enough to recognize that slightly more risque art won't mesh well with some members and choose to link and tag it, so you don't have to see it.

This art will exist whether or not she wins or loses, so it's best to just accept that it's a fact of life particularly with a specific kind of people that Skullgirls appeals to, so the best solution is just not to worry about it.

If you don't like Annie because she doesn't appeal to you, that's entirely fair - if it's based on a misconception about her play-style or her personality or whatever, I like to try correcting those misconceptions, but I won't condemn you if you just don't think Annie is the character you want in the game - as long as it's purely on what you feel about her own merits to the game itself.

Beowulf lost because of SGG. They absolutely hate his guts because he is popular on Tumblr. Annie gets slightly less flak, but probably because everyone is pissy at Aeon right now. Had he been popular on SGG we would have seen a 3-1 split.
well this kind of eclipse is... Solar Powered

I'm gonna draw hardcore porn of everything you ever liked, and there's nothing you can do to stop me! Forsake everything!

I can't draw for shit.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Write about it, I'm sure it would offend him just as much.

Annie launched into the air, her sword held high, ready to slice Beowulf in two. At that moment all he could think of was: 'I can see her panties... they have a bear pattern!'

I could write Beowulf/Isaac slash but Beowulf/Chair is OTP.

Clearly we're stuck in a timeloop created by her because she didn't win and now we're doomed to repeat this until she wins with each loop getting saltier and more aggressive to eventually tilt the scales in Aeon's favor.

Shira Oka with Skullgirls characters?

(if any thread gets that reference it would likely be this one)

If you think promotion of the sexualization of minors isn't something to worry about, in terms of growing the fan base, we're not going to see eye to eye on this.

It would be best if you changed your argument from "deal with it" because people are going to continue making what they like to make, to "deal with it" there's a whole bunch of different art on Skullgirls that can be viewed as objectionable. Your ability to put up with that art doesn't mean someone hasn't been offended.

I don't... think that was the point I was making at all? And I don't think I was talking about promoting sexualization of minors. That's kind of a huge jump, there. Especially since I was careful to broaden it beyond Annie.

In fact, I was making both points. I can't see why you can't have one with the other. I specifically brought up your 'second point' in my original post. You can find objectionable fanart for pretty much every character, thus why I brought up Peacock and Double. My point was not that I don't care about the promotion of sexualization of minors, my point was not that I'm not offended, so no one else should be, it's that this stuff is going to exist no matter if Annie or whoever else wins or loses the vote, so making it an important consideration when deciding who you want for Skullgirls strike me as a tad ridiculous. Stuff like risque fanart exists as the background radiation to any jaunt through Skullgirls fan content, and voting against Annie purely because you're uncomfortable with that won't solve anything or make it disappear.

My argument isn't just "deal with it", it's "judge a character on their own merits, what they, not whatever fan art they've inspired, add to the game", since that art will exist no matter what.

I don't see how this somehow mean I'm completely comfortable with the promotion of sexualization of minors (and I've gotta grit my teeth at this given all the cheesecake that goes on in the game despite the apparent ages of characters like Filia), and I don't see why you're accusing me of being completely comfortable with it. If I implied it, I'm not sure where. Saying that risque art of Annie or Minette or whatever character may make someone uncomfortable will exist no matter the result isn't a declaration of how comfortable I am with it, it's fact. So why bother getting hung up on it with regards to how you want to vote? That fan art isn't going to reflect the character as Lab Zero will dictate it, and you won't have to see it. I'm certainly not going out of my way for it.

If I'm making my point hard to understand, I apologize (and it's quite late here), but I'm not sure where you got any of what you just said out of my post.

You've been crystal clear. It seems some people expect us to go on a crusade that no one else should have to perform. The truth of the matter is that the messed up stuff is everywhere so we don't have to pretend like it is an issue that only Skullgirls deals with. Annie herself is a perfectly fine(fine doesn't mean perfect, she is flawed like any other) character that shouldn't be causing any weird thoughts, but there is always someone out there willing to take the character to places the author never intended. The same could be said for every single character in the cast. It is a problem that Capcom, ASW and every company on the planet has to deal with. We as a fanbase are dealing with it here by making sure to call it out when we see it. I sure as hell haven't seen you telling me or anyone else to quiet down when we had our objections about certain drawings a week or two ago.
