Yup it's true. I just logged into my Windows partition, and this is the message that it gave me:
Looks like I can still cancel the scheduled upgrade. But this is still complete bullshit from MS.
People defending , this ... still can't believe it.
The most disturbing is that i'm reading people saying that the update fucked something and their answer is " well you should do a clean reinstall !"
People had a working PC ,with their software , the update installs against their will and fucks something up and somehow , you have to do a clean install in order to not be annoyed every time?
I feel like i'm living in the twilight zone.
At first it was an
optionnal upgrade , now it's
recommanded upgrade, imagine what will happen when they'll make the upgrade a
obligatory upgrade ?
Yeah it sucks how they went about this whole thing. I personally like W10 as I don't use any apps that are broken with the OS and the OS itself is faster on my PC and Laptop than 7 or 8.1. It is very easy to disable the telemetry shit. Outside of that I don't really see any advantage to sticking with 7 or 8.x. Some people just have these stances that can't be broken no matter how logical or reasonable the alternative is. Here is a better product that will actually be properly updated for security vulnerabilities but the method that they went about the upgrades created such disdain. That is just how MS operates, yet people almost seem to take it personally. They are a bully in the market and they always will be until people actually nut up and use alternatives which aren't actually that bad or hard to use. Just different. Sticking with their old product that had some the same kind of compatibility issues and tracking bullshit you are avoiding in W10 shows them nothing.
First , it's not a "stance" , there are plenty of scenarios where going for win10 is problematic.
In this perfect world where everyone is using microsoft products + steam , Win 10 is harmless , but the PC world is much more than that.
The current shape of pc software has changed and financial and logictical reason for not upgrading are valid.
Second , Win 10 is not a better product. It can be argued that is a good product , but it's not "better". many have several situations with working products that they want to keep and they would NEVER be forced to upgrade. If we choose to stay on win 7 and get it by a security problem , it's our choice. Heck the OS will still get security support untill 2020, there is NO reason to force us to upgrade
Third , this is how microsoft operates and that's why people are annoyed by the thing. Microsoft , or any company should NOT dictate how i use my Computer. if they change their product drasticly , i should have the option if the new prodcut suit my needs or not. the practise of forced upgrades should be condemned , NO exceptions.
