Also, doesn't the "All-Stars: Stadium" title fly in the face of the new trademark rumor?
Superbot is *technically* still around, but really they aren't and I highly doubt they'll be involved in a potential sequel.
A bit unrelated, but Sony Santa Monica did bring back a few old guys from Superbot (and also involved some fans) when they were working on the ultimate/final patch for PSBR.

Nicely done. A touch of color wouldn't go amiss but I agree it's a vast improvement on the earlier "leak."

Barring the fact that Stadium as a subtitle would in no way pass the muster of focus-testing for a product like that, whoever shopped this didn't take the time to realize that the light source illuminating the left side of Alloy and Drake's head is lighting Ratchet from the opposite side.
As much as I would love a new, proper PlayStation fighting game (full 2D and combo based, like classic Capcom); at least Egg's is visually interesting.

Everybody knows it's fake, everybody says it's fake, but everybody is quoting and repeating this shitty picture. That way, for many minds, it becomes fact through sheer repetition. It's basically how Fox news or the German Bild "Zeitung" works!

Do they really need that if they can just partner with from software or level 5 or square enix. Same argument as fps, biggest games are from third party. They tried somewhat with freedom wars, soul sacrifice, oreshika etc.... albeit not AAA and for vita but not sure if a new AAA rpg is worth the investment especially when Japan isn't their strongest market

Yeah, I agree. I like thoughtful hints and teases rather than outright leaking the game.
If they were to make a fighting game, they'd probably be better making a new IP than buying something niche like Bloody Roar or Battle Arena Toshinden.
Yeah, a 2D hand-drawn PS fighter would be amazing, but it would never happen as it doesn't have enough mass appeal.
This is brilliant! Now wait for it to get a topic on N4G and then Playstation Lifestyle or someone to run it as a story: "Report: leaked image suggests new PlayStation All-Stars fighting game in development."

I really think there is a gap in the market for a high-quality stealth adventure like Socom, or Syphon Filter. Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon have completely moved away from this style now, and I think there's a definite gap in the market for a AAA publisher to step back in.
I believe Japan Studio is about 400 members of staff, and with Alan Becker having taken charge I would assume their efficiency and ambition has increased. We know that Toyama is working on something new (another action adventure, I think he said?) and obviously Knack is in development, but I now that The Last Guardian has shipped who knows what the rest of the studio is working on. There's got to be a new IP in development there unless they're bringing back an old series (like Dark Cloud for example), but I expect it'll be at least a few years from release at this point.

Was just watching a playthrough of PT on YouTube. God, I love that game so much. Kojima should totally do something similar over again to show that they've mastered the Decima engine. I'd love to see how good it can look in a small enclosed space.

I mean, they aren't really doing that either. I think the broader point is those type of games are kinda absent from the 1st party line up. I'd love to see more stuff like Bloodborne or a 1st party twist on something like Persona.
I don't like this narrative that just because there's competition means Sony shouldn't even try

We really don't know much about Japan Studio. Is Gavin Moore still there? His last game was Puppeteer. Also, I'm sure there is another unannounced AAA game going on there, because Knack 2 is not a big project. TLG was pretty much a collaboration with GenDesign, while team Siren is probably taking a break or working on pre-production stuff for their new IP. Bloodborne producers still haven't announced their game yet.

I strongly disagree with this. You sound like a movie exec that thinks 2D Handrawn film has no place in Cinema.
Let's look at perspective with Arc Systems. They could do it if they wanted to. But knowing how they want to go all out with their fighting games, they probably don't want to go through the trouble of doing hand drawn animation on a huge roster, especially with the animator shortage crisis that's happening at Japan at the moment​ (shits ridiculous, which explains why Guilty Gear and King of fighters are 3D now). I don't think it's because of mass appeal.
You need to understand that 2D hand drawn animation still has a place in gaming that brought in huge traction as long as its executed in a stylish way. Like cup head or Skullgirls. Skullgirls​ sucsess brought in the success that gave birth to indivisible and Them Fightin Herds with successful crowd funding and using the same tech skull girls have.
But I'm going in a tangent... Again.. but I'll say this.
It's all about execution. Execution.
If the animation is fluid, stylish, and graceful. I believe loads of people will respond to that. But unfortunately those qualities don't come in cheap and easily.. at all...

There are still games coming exclusively for PS4 and they are not first party. Like this year we had Yakuza 0, Nioh, KH 2.8 and Persona for example.
As a manufacturer Sony is doing good with several ips that cover a hole in their lineup with games 3rd party don't deliver like Gravity Rush, Horizon, MLB.
I do expect surprises announcements for this year but they won't focus only on games you like.

I didn't say they should..? I think you misunderstood my original posts. I was agreeing with orichi that I'd like to see a big jrpg from 1st party and I was saying Sony shouldn't be discourage from creating in that area just because there's competition.
