I'd imagine the reason would be that shaking would ruin the 3D effect. That, and they ran out of space to put the rumble pad in.

Shame to see so many people dismissing the no online though. Like I said before it looks like they tried to improve the multiplayer a lot by making the environments a lot more varied and interesting so you could be sneaky. Obviously all that is wasted effort with no online support.
So having objects just pop out instead of slowly fading it is somehow better? Game still has shitty draw distance.Uchip said:what?
the fog on n64 was implemented to hide draw distance
im glad its gone

I have the original version that came with Metroid Prime Pinball. I'd love to get the compact DS Lite version someday.
Futureman said:Isn't the story mode in this game like ~5 hours? I remember the game being pretty short when I beat it on N64.
Basically, OOT was easily worth the repurchase even though I already beat it. Star Fox... isn't looking like it.
gwarm01 said:I feel like it was closer to one hour, hell, maybe even less just to run through it once. The game has several different paths with different events that occur though, so that gives you incentive to play more.
It might be a hard sale to someone who isn't really into this type of game, but it's easily a day one purchase for me. $40 is probably half of what it cost back on the N64. Not that I would know, seeing as how I was 12 at the time.
Kaijima said:Even back in the day, I was disappointed by SF64 when I first played it. I could tell the level design was inferior and lacked the mentality of the original team. People seem to forget 64 didn't have the input of the east-west collaboration of the original game.
Starfox SNES had spooky, intricate level design that made a lot of use of the idea of 3D geometry rotating and shifting in space. 64 copied the idea in an inferior way and diluted the stage list with the all range stages that I found dull, and the also dull tank stages. Its art direction had textures, but wasn't the same.
Sound quality was better but the music composition was also more generic and not memorable, to me. World themes in Starfox were classics.
Regulus Tera said:I'm talking about the English version though. Is that the case for that?
Stylo said:They are two different beasts. I'll agree on the musical front. 64 is an arcade shooter at heart and it pulls it off masterfully. The original is more based on evasive movement rather than shooting and high scores.
Apparently when you shoot Falco he says "Hey genius, I'm on your side" rather than "Hey Einstein, I'm on your side" but otherwise from whats know its the same. I'll laughOni Link 666 said:No. They actually got the old voice actors to do new voice overs. I don't think they have new lines though. Everything I've heard so far sounds like lines from the old game.
I knew it as soon as I heard the "do a barrel roll" at the conferance but it seems to me like a secret Nintendo is trying to keep (due to nostalgia*). Quite the contrast when OOT 3D is basically strict orders of "sound the same" while this is basically a bit more do what you want.Luigi87 said:Walkthrough of the Asteroid level featuring all the re-recorded Team Star Fox voices.

Because boy were they compressed in the n64 version.

That's not representative of how it looks and run on an actual N64 though.Izayoi said:Wow, what an enormous difference visually (and aurally). People forget what N64 games looked like, I think.
