STEAM | September 2017 - Summer Ys Ending

Prototype 2 has the most amusing grab and throw I can think of, they go flying hundreds of feet at crazy speeds and bounce off buildings in a real silly way.

Also, Alice: Madness Returns still looks incredible and I can play at a pretty steady 60 fps at 4k with all the physx gunk so that's nice. Not sure if I'll finish replaying it anytime soon tho, it's the one game I've played where I remember just begging for it to end because it's so, so long and repetitive. What you did at hour 2 is exactly the same as hour 17 but with different environments. Hopefully it's not as tedious later on as I remembers.

Got a Wishlist notification that 1979 is on sale this weekend for $1.19.

It's a short exploration of the Iranian Revolution in a Telltale Games framework.

Supposed to be thoughtful and well-written / acted. (IGN vid review.)

Looking forward to giving it a go.
1979 is great, i like it a lot

it's obviously more budget than telltale but it does remarkable documentary work and it's a game i came out of educated and i felt it delivered a pretty wide array of points of views on the subejct, while also having its own stance and that stance being kind of great

i like that game a lot, i hope many more documentary games like this get made

It works now. Apparently the final patch removed the CD check in favor of online key check. Either someone got my key from a keygen (or somehow got my key in box/on Steam because of a logistic fuckup), or the online activation is wonky (my friend said he had problems with BFG Edition, but it only disabled achievements until it activated again).
Seems like if I didn't update, I would need to have the CD in drive, but I wouldn't have those key problems.

Either way, argh DRM. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's a little chart showing the number of games released on Steam by month since 2008. Still a work in progress, and someone probably did something similar (and did it better), but here is it anyway.

a9kAd59.png

A few things:

- Late 2013 was the moment when the number of releases on Steam really started growing quickly.
- May, July and September are usually quite busy. With a dip in June.
- April 2017 and June 2017 had less new games than in the previous year. Which had not happened since 2013.
- We still have not reach 500 new releases in one month (came close last October).
- First month with 100+ games was February 2014. First one with 200+ was May 2014. First one with 300+ was March 2016. First one with 400+ was April 2016.
- Still, 400 games is almost 20 games each day since there are few very releases on Saturday and Sunday.

Nice work, Kifimbo! Very interesting.

I try to keep up with the discovery queue (~16.5k titles viewed), but it has been a slog recently - 20 games/day definitely feels about right. An increasing number of these look like absolute lowest-tier rubbish, quantity over quality, but that's another story.

Wow, nice work.

Crazy how many games are released nowadays and will only increase.

Playing They Bleed Pixels, liked the first two chapters, last two were horrible. I'm definitely not collecting all the pages. Those flying squid creatures are the bane of my existence and I wish some of my moves weren't all mapped to one button. The combat is also sort of unsatisfying.

Not a terrible game, just not one I plan on replaying again, Super Meat Boy this is not.

Wasn't Dead Rising 4 on sale on a site just recently? I forget which one it was and I'm not seeing the $19 entry on istheresanydeal

It's been a while since I've posted (My finances are in a better place now, so I'm able to buy games more frequently again). So bought the Sakura Bundle.

Have the couple of extras.

pantsattack saved the day with an extra Watch_Dogs copy 👍

I just started Ys Seven and I'm liking it a lot so far. I only beat the first boss, so the game can go anywhere from here. Don't tell me if it gets bad.

So I'm having some huge issues with trying to run Sonic Adventure 2. After tinkering around a lot with NVIDIA's Control Panel and stuff I finally managed to get it working in any format but fullscreen. Anyone know of a way to fix this???

Do you have gsync? I can't even play the game because capping it via RTSS freezes it and playing it borderless makes the game run twice as quickly.

I played through Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. I've owned the game either since Steam release or pretty close to, my last play session was logged sometime in 2012. I figured I'd finally get around to beat 'n' delete it. It's a strange one for me as I had really no expectations whatsoever, I had heard of it a lot at the time, but I'd never see qualitative discussion or remarks about it one way or another. Having finished it I didn't really like it all that much, it had some good tunes but the experience as a whole just felt meaningless.

The dialogue and general writing came off as wanting to pull off a kind of Adventure Time kind of irreverence and twee quality, but it just misses the mark. Self-inserts and fourth wall breaking that I didn't really care for, the game tties to get you to tweet a bunch of times which i suppose makes sense for something out of 2011-2012, puzzles aren't really puzzles so much as trying to figure out what to fiddle around with in the environment and on what order. You can also consume magic mushrooms for hints on that so I guess that's something. The ending and overall thrust of the game just felt so pointless and hollow, it's a shame.

But I can finally put that behind me, it was only 4 hours long at least.

God Hand HD pls. ._.

Ancient's been tweeting lately and it reminds me of how much I also want Gotta Protectors on Steam. The game's just too charming to be stuck in XBLIG and 3DS downloadable space. They seem to be making some Amazon Diet Run game now too and I am just crazy in love with the art.

They released an NES ROM of that game that can be downloaded and played via an emulator
http://www.ancient.co.jp/~game/mamotte_knight2/
Go to their site, scroll down and you will find a link for the JP and Eng. ROM of the game.
It runs on FCEUX at least, so RetroArch should run it fine.

xcom is still pretty good

smooth sailing so far, activated a few of the second wave thingies at random and been moving steadily like usual. it's hard to tell what's new and what was in the main game, i know this meld thing is new but i haven't really built those rooms yet since they sound like late game stuff but i'm getting so many gene mods that i feel like i should hurry that up before all my normal soldiers become obsolete or something

also kind of wonder how story progression vs strategy layer progression works, i know you get new missions as you research more stuff and as you play new enemy types appear but does that like depend on your story progress? i ask cos i would kind of want to freeze progress sometimes so i can just focus on upgrading shit, maybe for the sake of upgrading it. this isn't a super hardcore playthrough, i just want to taste some more of that delicious gameplay loop

had two major scares when i misclicked and threw a grenade right into saoirse's feet but somehow it didn't hit her (and actually hit an invisible alien squid that was hiding there wtfff)

second scare was when an owl flew by the screen and fucking made me jump off my seat it was so scary

anyways, there's a co-op mahou shoujo inspired league event so i'll probably spend most of my time doing that now
