SUMMER LESSON |OT| Only seven days to max out your social links

Alright, I think I have it mostly figured out.

Before the day starts, you pick out a lesson plan, a conversation topic, and if you have one, an event card.
Lessons determine which stat raises, conversation cards pump up point gain (and you can use multiple of the same type at the same time), and event cards give you various special events at the end of the day.

Each day during the first "session", you get to pick between 3 options.
They will either give you a great result, a normal result, or a bad result. Not only does this change how many points you get for that day, it also changes the "fired up" meter, which acts as a global modifier for point gain (ie the higher it is, the more points you get).
Great raises the "fired up" meter by between 10-15 points, good/normal gives +5, and bad can drop it from anywhere between 10-20 it seems.
You can tell how the day went by which stamp is used (square is bad, circle is good, flower is great. Or you can just read the text ;P)

The second part of the day lets you pick a conversation topic, which will give you more conversation cards that match the selected icon to pump into points in another lesson, as well as giving you some story behind Hikari.

The final part of the day can play out in 3 ways.
If you used an event card, you'll see the related event.
If you had a "great" lesson and didn't use an event card, there's a random chance you'll see an event.
Otherwise, the day will just end.

Finally, you need to be concerned with completing goals.
You can check your goals by selecting your smartphone at the beginning of the day, and it gives you objectives such as "gain x points on any skill in 1 session" or "have 4 great lessons in a row".
Completing a goal will give you a bundle of conversation cards, and/or sometimes an event card. Completing all the lessons will give you the final goal, which is usually an outfit.
You can also re-roll your top two goals ONCE, and only once, so I suggest you save it for if you get an unreasonable goal (i.e. "gain 170 points across 2 skills in a single session")

It also looks like each time you run through 7 days you get more lessons to do, and your lesson level carries over, although I'm not sure what the point is.

EDIT:
Whoops, double post. My bad.

Thanks for the explanation. I feel the first session part is the important part to get the points, but I don't know the correct answer so I just always guess random thing from the 3 options.

Kinda bummed this isn't getting a release in the West.
So this company called Illusion announced an Oculus / Vive game today due out in January 2017 called VR Kanojo, and it's basically an exact rip of Summer Lesson but it's an "adult game."

NSFW (well, there's really only one NSFW image on the site, and that's if you hit the arrows to scroll right/left under the "Concept" section), but here's the website: http://vrkanojo.com/

Oh cool! I guess this is nice since the actual Summer Lesson isn't coming to the West. And apparently they're trying to put it on Steam too. Dunno if they can manage that, at least not without censorship, but I hope they can. I love lewd games.

Though I can't say that this is a replacement; really wish Sony would reconsider bringing the actual Summer Lesson over. Always sucks when games don't get official releases.

No dead eyes, if I'm understanding correctly. Jarring in the sense that the 3D feeling is really good, and it when she leans in or moves around it really feels like she is getting up in my personal space. It is hard to describe and I'm sure it will wear off eventually but it is pretty convincing to me.

Also, forgot to mention, hearing the wind/nature stuff going on outside with the 3d audio is really neat.

You nailed it. Man, my Oculus didn't prepare me for that - especially sharing earbuds. When you turn the music off, it's even more immersive and awkward.

If you want the actual Summer Lesson, tweet Harada on twitter for it. He made all those other games happen for the west.

As for that PC game, it's a hardcore porn game if the dev's previous work is taken into account. I don't think Valve allows porn on steam.

This is cool, but the website is the worst designed website I've seen in ages. :p

PRE ORDERED CANCELED

what does the text means?

here another text from another game

r1FQ1po.jpg

i am guessing now the hacker will have enough motivation to hack the PS4.

text is just "outside of the play area"

however the screen going black instead of just the warning popping up like in the second picture appears to be a deliberate developer choice

my guess is this was done for cero rating

If it helps at all, the window option is usually relax, the megaphone option is motivate or provide hints, and the checkbox option is various flavours of review notes. For the flash card lesson it's almost always the review option, and you can kinda guess which is right based on the activity.

Is the correct answer for each activity consistent with the topic being studied for that session? In other words will flashcards or reading always have the same responses and results? Or is it context sensitive? Or just random?

Seems to be a random selection each time, but the same response gives the same outcome I thiink. I might go through and write down each good response I get for each lesson type if I get the time.

There was a section where after you grade her she's checking her phone. I tried to take a peek at what she had on her phone and she held it back to her chest afterwards.

That shit was presence inducing. Here's a virtual character actually reacting to an action that I took in the real world transferred to my virtual avatar in virtual world. It's insane and I kinda felt like a dick afterwards.

I did the same thing in that phone scene lol. Also I have been watching her eye tracking and getting really close to her in those scenes and I swear in one I got too close and she snapped at me for getting to close. Usually if I get to close the screen dims. Was that legit or just lucky timing while I was checking her out too long?

Is anyone else having head tracking issues with this game? Last night I played Rez for about an hour with no issues. As soon as I tried playing Summer Lesson the head tracking got all jerky and would have trouble figuring out where I was.

So I guess technically if you want to understand what the character is telling you, you have to wait for the blonde girl since she speaks English? Or am I just wrong?

The headphones thing was awesome. My brother was watching how into it I was getting when that happened and was cracking up.

Anyone unlocked all outfits yet?

Not a single one. Or any other item for that matter, don't know if there are more than those. My Japanese reading skills aren't quite up to par for the multiple choices during tutoring, so great lessons are a happy coincidence and finishing the item quests is pretty damn hard.

Weird, I know no lick of Japanese, but I was able to unlock the outfit that has her wearing a black shirt.

The game does feel incredibly short and you can probably finish the game within an hour. Of course this is made to be played with multiple playthrough but I do wish there was a bit more content. I know there are lots of future DLCs coming so I hope it doesn't take too long.
One playthrough is <40 minutes. But yeah, you are expected to play this multiple time, especially when you finish with a "B".

I currently have a quest to get A rank, which will give red shirt. But that's gonna be super difficult since it basically requires not getting a single bad lesson. Not sure about black shirt.

Edit: I did get my first item on my last playthrough, need to abuse the triangle to swap bad quests more. Unfortunately all it seemed to do was give the event where she picks something from your shoulder, which is already the most common one - plus items are single use, which is pretty crazy!

So far I've managed to get several S-rankings, unlock 7 additional outfits, and am currently working on a translation guide.

Just in case it might be of help to anyone, here's a basic rundown of the general categories of the options you have to pick from during the 10:00 lesson

Megaphone Icon - saying something- these correspond to giving various types of verbal encouragement (There's also one that means observing her quietly and not saying anything)
Checklist Icon - actively teaching something- these will be things like giving her a review, or teaching her study methods to help like concentrating on small bits at a time or taking notes
Figure/Coffee Icon - quick break or refresh- stuff like having a piece of candy or something so her brain can cool off for a sec
Room Icon - environmental conditions- includes things like adjusting the AC, playing a couple different types of music, etc.

Finally managed to get A-rank... though I felt that was one of my worse runs with Hikari's meter only at 65 at the end. Very confusing.

Anyway I have at least 2 costumes unlocked now (maybe more if I unlocked something from the early runs before I even realized they're costumes). Never seen her wear any of them though, so wondering how that works, though. Probably I'm missing something obvious.

Yup, English-subtitled Asian version (basically meaning "For Hong Kong") announced just today. I was really hoping (and halfway expecting) for this to happen since they do the same with a lot of other Japanese games that never get an actual western release.

Bought this at launch with no knowledge of Japanese whatsoever, asumed I'd be able to at least muddle my way through some of it, yet I'm stuck at the very first interaction!!

Oh well, at least we're getting an Asian version!

She doesn't change outfits during the week; if you have any unlocked (or the bonus DLC) you can select them at the beginning of a new game (as long as it isn't your very first playthrough)

When you start your new week, the first thing you see in the cafe is her beginning status levels. Then when you press X or O, it immediately asks you if you want to change her outfit, and picking yes (はい) brings up the list and she'll wear what you select for the week.

Subbing to this.

If there's any news regarding the localization of this game, please post that news on this thread.

I really want to play this game, but I don't want my first experience just being confused on what she's saying or what to say.

And no, I'm not gonna learn Japanese.

Edit: also lol at the people thinking this is a porn game.

Have we really gotten to that point where we assume any game made in Japan with a girl on the cover is a porn game?

I guess the school uniform gives that impression. Because Anime

Pretty sure Harada was quoted a while ago saying this type of game would be "Very Difficult" to release in America due to "reasons"

Who knows though, maybe P-Qube or someone like Aksys could help make a bid to get it here.

Oh, that's great news. :)

Already imported DOA Xtreme 3, so this will be fine.

Ohh, so it's the very first question. It defaults to 'no' and I've been too afraid to choose 'yes' in case it's asking if i want to delete my ng+ progression and reset from the very beginning. That figures. Thanks!

You know what, this is good enough for me.

I already own a JPN PSN. Just never bought anything with it yet.

Just keep in mind you'll need to make a new Hong Kong PSN and order a prepaid PSN card in their local currency (HK$) to get the subbed "Asian" version. I've known several people who've bought a JP¥ PSN card for an Asian-release game because they were unaware that 'Japan' and 'Asia' are different regions.
