There's nothing super legit tying the DLC rumor to this leak, they were all anonymous posts. Also, with the weird layout of the select screen, there may just be characters yet to be unlocked. So Mewtwo, Ice Climbers, etc might still be hiding in there somewhere.

I think it was Wolf, Lucus, Ice Climbers. Now the last one makes me skeptical of it being anything butt "tales from my ass" as I feel they were dropped for technical reasons like transforming characters were (Pokemon Trainer, Zelda/Sheik as one).

It could be a case of the devs finding a way to include Ice Climbers but being unable to finish it by the deadline so they finished them after the game went gold and plan to include them in a DLC update for the 3DS version once the Wii U version (which might come with some/all of the DLC on disc already) releases.

Duck Hunt wasn't played in the footage. The pictures were from these videos, which someone recorded.... which this footage itself was captured using a capture device and assumed to be sent to the ESRB as a video reel for their rating review. (Remember, the ESRB doesn't actually play the games -- at least, that's what it says on their website).

Oh I thought I was the only one who missed the Dog on the vids.

So happy for Shulk, even though I'm expecting him for quite a while.

I'm sorry, but after Ice Climbers, Game & Watch, and R.O.B, "Random NES character gets in?" has absolutely 0 meaning now. Not to say they're bad choices or anything, but it is almost impossible to be surprised about that sort of thing by now.
