Probably heard this song before, but never knew it was so popular. Seems to have your standard Spanish pop song beat. Maybe if I knew the lyrics.

The lyrics are nothing special either, it's the typical "I like girl, girl doesn't like me, let's try saying romantic things for 4 minutes".

Yes, you know that I've been looking @ you for a while
I have to dance with you today (DY)
I saw, that your look was calling me
Show me the way that I'm going oh
You you are the magnet and I'm the metal
I'm getting closer and I'm setting up the plan
Just the thought of It accelerates the pulse
now I'm enjoying it more than usual
All my senses are asking for more
This must be taken without any trouble

Slowly
I want to breathe your neck slowly
Let me tell you things in your ears
So that you remember when you're not with me
Slowly
I want to undress you with kisses slowly
Sign the walls of your labrynth
And make your whole body a manuscript
Turn it up turn it up..... turn it up, turn it up

I wanna see you dance
I wanna be your rhythm
I want you to show me
Your favourite places places places Places
Let me surpass your danger zones
To make you scream
And forget your name

DY
If I ask you for a kiss , come give It to me
I know that you're thinking about it
I've been trying for some time
Mommy this is giving and giving it
You know that your heart with me makes you bom bom
You know that this baby is looking for my bom bom
Come test my mouth to see what It taste like to you
I want to see how much love do you have
I'm not in a hurry , I want to do the trip
Let's start slowly then wildly

Step by step, soft softly
We are going to get caught little by little
When you kiss me so skillfully
I think that you're malicious delicately
Step by step, soft softly
We're going to get caught, little by little
And it's just that this beauty is a puzzle
But to put it together here I have the pieces

Slowly
I wanna breathe your neck slowly
Let me whisper things into your ear
So that you remember if you're not with me
Slowly
I wanna undress you with kisses slowly
Sign the walls of your laberinth
And make your whole body a manuscript
Turn it up

I wanna see you dance
I wanna be your rhythm
I want you to show me
Your favourite places
Let me surpass your danger zones
Till I make you scream
And forget your name
Slowly
We will do It on the beach in Puerto Rico
Till the waves scream dear lord
So that my seal stays with you

Step by step, soft softly
We're going to get caught little by little
I want you to show me
Your favourite places places places Places
Step by step, soft softly
We're going to get caught little by little
To make you scream (Fonsi)
And forget your name (DY)
Slowly

Heard it before occasionally but never realized it was 2 billion popular. Sounds like some throw song from 10 years ago or even a Eurovision imitation number complete with very typical video.

What kind of stats can you get for the video. Obviously it's going to be popular in South America but would be interesting to see how hard its hitting elsewhere or just an insane amount of repeat plays.

Literally had never heard this song until I watched this video. I get that I don't roll in the same circles as the demographic of this music, but that just seems odd to not experience something so insanely popular out in the wild.

Yeah it's odd. I'm only 34 but this stuff is utterly outside my daily experience at this point.

Flat and generic stuff attracts masses but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised. It's so completely forgettable. Strange.

Interesting. I've never heard it or even heard the name before this thread. Usually I'm at least familiar with cultural phenomenons.. I feel so out of touch this time!

Just listened to it. It's fine. Sounds very generic and non-offensive.

For people that haven't heard this song, where do you live?

In Texas it's on literally every radio station and I've heard it in stores, restaurants, bars, etc.

Austin here, but I don't listen to radio channels where this would be played (or even the radio much.. usually podcasts or streaming music in the car).

Just another indicator of how pop culture has become so fractured. The reality is even with what passes for insanely popular films, games, music, etc. now only a small portion of the demographic is consuming. A far cry from when everyone was watching the same shows on three channels.

300chf ain't shit to me
This song gets played everywhere in Switzerland. I don't mind it because it's fun to dance to, but I am getting a bit sick of hearing it. I also just spent 7 weeks in Seoul and when I would go out on the weekends I was guaranteed to hear it at least once per night in whatever bar or club I was in...

this sounds like resort music to me.

I mean, it's fine, but totally unremarkable.

that view count is bonkers though. wonder how much bandwidth people are wasting away having that play in another tab in their browser.

edit - I have heard Bailando, or at least I recognize it. (shuts cave door again)

Every passing year I look back at the last one and think: ok, the most popular songs of yesteryear weren't so bad after all – compared to this. :O The song from the op feels like music for (and from) machine-people to me. Utterly synthetic and devoid of any edge, ambition or real emotion.

I really dislike this song. I've never liked reggaeton and pop-reggaeton hybrids. They come from the 9th circle of hell.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
always found the Bieber version weird

he just does his verse and then the rest of the song basically continues as usual in spanish

I live in Houston and this is accurate. It's everywhere.

Heard it a few times on the radio, had no idea it was this popular. The women in the video are amazing, I'll rewatch a few times just for them.

Wonder where it was filmed, Puerto Rico? I need to get my ass down there, last time I went was in the 90s.
