This actually brings up a rather unpleasant memory for me where I was in the exact situation where I was the butt of the joke.
I was a shy kid in my freshman year of high school. I never talked to anyone, just kept to myself. So I guess I was the perfect target for a good old fashioned gotcha moment from some girls who probably saw me as easy pickings. One of them came over, got near my face and said I was cute. I was never the one for conversation back then, especially with girls, so I was didn't know what to do. Then she ask for my phone number. I should've known back then it was a truck, but like I said I was shy and awkward. I fumbled for my phone, but the girl was already back in the seat across from me and laughing with her friend. That...kinda crushed my soul a bit. It's been years since then and every time I think about going out and maybe pursuing a relationship, I think back to that one moment and soon perish the thought about a relationship. I know I shouldn't let stuff like that get to me, but it does. I'm improving though and making sure stuff like that don't get to me. But I'm still working on getting my nerves up about a relationship.
I remember being in high school and I told a girl i liked her, and she said she'd rather fuck a pole than go out on. It had me dead for a few weeks. It took me a while after to think any girl would find me attractive and missed out on many a girl who liked me.
I still self loath, but i got better my last two years of high school about putting myself out there and talking to people.
It took me about six months for me to work up the courage to ask my girlfriend out on a date.
I'd say if there's a girl you like go for it. It might end up badly but you might end up meeting the love of your life or just a really good friend.

When dude said who in the blue hell are you, my response was somone with a girlfriend, which is honestly apart of the problem especially if the person has poor social skills or dense to body language.
Me and the buddy i work with both met my girlfriend the same day, and it was Obvious that we both liked her. I mean if a cute girl with big boobs tells you like anime, of course your going to like her. So after I got with her everyone else at the job found out we were dating about a month. He doesn't have many friends so he didn't find until nearly 6-7 months later because I wasn't sure how to break it too him.
