I just got Skyrim and it's currently installing, so I thought I'd ask a quick question. If I have Skyrim on Steam I can still install mods that are not on the Steam Workshop, correct?
Yes, you can install whichever mods you want.

Sorry if this subject came up before, but i was wondering if there was a mod that makes it so that if there's only one weapon or a weapon and shield or two-handed weapon equipped, you attack with the left mouse button and block with the right, but if you are dual wielding, then you use the left weapon with the left mouse button and the right weapon with the right button.
Am I the only one who couldn't care less about the ENB stuff and only cares about the mods which affect gameplay?

I'm with ya. I usually find ENB mods to be very distasteful.Am I the only one who couldn't care less about the ENB stuff and only cares about the mods which affect gameplay?

If you only want that one instead of an entire armor pack, it's the Blue Stripes Commando Armor from The Witcher 2.
Now for some new pics
Isn't that default behavior in the game... or am I missing something?
So, I'm new to skyrim modding, I reviewed the OP and have been browsing the Nexus site for a while, and I'm still not clear on how to use the ENB mods; do I have to download anything first? I just got the modified dx dll, some files from the Confidence Man mod, and pasted them on the folder where the executable is. Is that it? I'm not seeing any major changes so I must have gone wrong somewhere. Any help is appreciated!
So this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15998 is causing Skyim to CTD after going through the splash screens during start ups. When I remove the ENB dll that the read me tells you to drop in the skyrim main folder, it starts up fine, proving that this mod the cause of the problems. Any ideas? Thanks!
Sound like you might have one of MSI afterburner, evga precision, etc overlays running. ENB is incompatible with those so you should disable them.
I was trying to do that same thing - didn't see any noticeable difference from the vanilla game when pasting ENB files to the Skyrim directory. I'm trying out some Steam workshop mods right now and I don't see any difference either. Weird.
So how do I enable triple-buffering and ENB? D3d overrider causes ENB to crash skyrim to desktop. Also, what are the biggest ENB performance hogs? Thanks!
New pics
Disable auto save?Is there any solution to the damn stuttering whenever I turn around? Also when the game autosaves my framerate takes a huge dive.
SSAO with ENB is pretty bad. It has glitches where you can see it through geometry, and just looks bad. Forcing SSAO though the nvidia control panel look much better, which you can do for triple buffering as well.
my god. how can i make my skyrim look like this? what mod is this????
I'm curious as well.
^Forcewithin's ENB preset rocks, here are a couple of screenshots from the PC thread.

I agree, there're better ENB's for interiors or darker areas, such as Midhrastic or DARK, but I have to say ForceWithin's one is well balanced in every category,
which makes it the winner in my setup considering that I still play the game, instead of just launching it and looking for a nice spot to take ss the whole time.
I'll take this opportunity to post my latest pictures
As I already said, I'll post a comprehensive list of the mods I'm currently using later in the day.
I'm having a hard time concentrating on actually playing the game
That's because the settings are bad for actually playing the game.
Truest statement in the whole thread. Theses settings look great in still, but it becomes immensely distracting during gameplay.

I'm thinking apparently Skyrim needs two mod threads, one for people who just want to take pictures and one for people who are interested in improving the game.
Im not sure if this will work, but try waiting for 31days in a player house for everything in the game to respawn and see if the npcs got properly replaced.
Also in/uninstall the mod while you are in a player house, the game might not apply the mod properly when you are in a area with npcs.
Thanks for responding! I tried a bunch of different install/uninstall/reinstall and wait 31 days combinations and still couldn't get it worked out. I even tried killing the defective NPCs and waiting 31 days only for them to respawn still deformed.
I was going to try starting a new file and seeing if it was an issue there, but three minutes into the cart ride the game crashes. I tried starting a new game with no mods loading, and it still crashes at the start. Steam verified the game files, but that doesn't always mean everything is all right.
So now I am redownloading the whole game. Hopefully whatever files were messed up will be fixed!
But you guys are right, this shouldnt be all about graphics, so here are some non graphic mod recomendations (I use all of them and can assure you that they work together flawless if installed properly):
-Chesko_WearableLantern - (gives you the option to use latterns, you can either hold them or bind them to your belt, gives you tons of options like how much oil a lattern will use up in a given timeframe etc., you can catch a firebug in a jar and use that as a lattern as well)

Its a bit late now, but have you tried running BOSS?
