I meant as a freelancer for another publication :p But yeah, they should...use him...while he's there ;D

TTP should really become the Mark Cerny of Move implementation. Going around different studios, schooling them on how to make pointer controls work properly.

Hmm you have no idea what happen up to that point.

He could have been attack first.

I'm pretty sure that one of the two main characters killed the guy on the bed at the beginning. That guy was face down as if we was sleeping and the blood was fresh. It was probably Ellie too, since she was waiting there until she heard Joel get attacked. They've also said that Joel is pretty ruthless when it comes to surviving so with him teaching her she could be the same way. I think the inter survivor struggle is really interesting.

Have you played any Uncharted game? Long stretches of every game pair you with another character and you never once have to "escort" them.

Because this is a survival themed game, there might be more scenarios where you do have to protect the other person, but your assertion is extreme and unwarranted.

RE4 was kind of an escort mission for a decent chunk of the game. It was also the best game ever made.

The last two Uncharted games have had AI companions at almost every step. Sometimes more than one.

Yet they have never felt like escort missions... except that one time you literally had to carry the cameraman through the gunfight (but that was awesome!).

I've mentioned it before, but in the Uncharted games you frequently have AI partners with you and there are no escort missions. There's little reason to believe this game would be a big escort mission. Especially considering we know nothing about the gameplay.

: | Those are escort missions. If it is a character that you are not in control of that can die, then it's an escort mission. Alyx in Episode 1 is an escort mission. The chopper pilot in Modern Warfare 1 is an escort mission. The girl in RE4 is an escort mission. Most of Ico is an escort mission. Whether or not it's an escort mission doesnt depend on how fun or easy it is.

So then what the hell was your point?

I find it really interesting that the developers tell us to keep looking closer at the trailer as there are details you can pull from it.

Somebody go frame by frame lol

I take it to mean that things like the girl finding a few unspent rounds might actually be an indication of ammo scarcity in the game. Or that the switchblade might indicate some melee... that you can kind of make some tentative assumptions about the game from the details in the scene. And that they chose this particular segment of the game (at least partially) for this reason.

I agree.

I'm a big fan of pointer controls for certain genres and I've been watching TTP's move videos since he started making them. His analyses are always spot on. Very detailed and thorough. Studios that want to implement move pointer controls would benefit a lot from his input

thats true. I guess I thought of him that way cause he asked the girl to search him after he beat him down. But you're right.

I'm certain that the dude he beat up was a threat instead of someone looking for more humans to bond and survive.

He was probably a loner looking out only for himself or a member of an apocalyptic gang killing everything in their path for resources.

He might have even killed the guy dead on the bed...

Again we have no clue how that guy died, the monsters could have got to him.

I thought the guy he beat up was a fun-guy. There was that gif of him with the broken jaw and you could see the fungus growth on his face.

I couldn't tell if he was actually a fun-guy or not... it's hard to tell if it's fungus or facial hair in the close up. And his gooey face could be from a broken jaw.

probably just first signs of the infection

Yeah... maybe it causes aggression even in the early stages.

is it creepy to fancy ellen paige or hermoinie?

..no...

ooohh I like this idea. Could provide for an interesting dynamic in the game.

Crossing my fingers for an openworld third person action adventure title, the only thing that worries me is the apparent cinematic approach, I hope they dont go the Uncharted way on this one.

Also, get that second team on Jak 4 please <3

Would be great if we got play as the guy for 1/3 of the game then he dies and then we control the girl completely alone

It definitely was surprising.

Please be open world, please be open world, please be open world...

Exactly. Or at least way more open than Uncharted. I always feel funneled and with a game like this you need to have that feeling of exploration IMO.

Don't fuck this up like they did with Alan Wake (from what it was supposed to be - an open game - to what it was - running down a tunnel with a flashlight)

The AI partners in Uncharted can't die though. So going by Naughty Dog's recent track record, there's no reason to assume that just because there are two characters that it'll be one long escort mission.

2nd team will probably be doing Uncharted 3 DLC until at least mid 2012.....After that, who knows? But if they go to Jak 4, then who starts working on PS4? I'm sure we all want a top notch ND game within one year of PS4's release.

They're not the type to revisit an IP though right?

The thing I like about Naughty Dog over other developers is just their ability to move on.

I have nothing against first person games, but I am also hoping this is a third person game. Uncharted is too damn good to not have more similar games.

So, Last of Us ≠ horror move game, thanks for clearing that out arne.
And good luck to those guys that are/were developing the other game, must be tough with this kind of competition lol.

They are also not the type to have two IPs in one generation. And they hold their IPs very dearly. I was surprised to see this dude say that TLOU is their 4th IP when they don't own Crash anymore. Evan Wells or someone else had said before that seeing Crash being whored out after they lost control of it was like seeing your daughter doing porn, or something like that. If they could, I bet they would buy the IP from Activision and restore some dignity to the franchise they created. They could probably make it awesome again as well.

Doing Uncharted 3 DLC is a two man job, since it'll only be multiplayer map packs. So I guess, depending on how far along PS4 is, Unkarted or Jak 4(which should go back to the roots).

The guy Joel attacked could have killed him.

The Joel character references both of them. After he kills the guy he tells the girl to "Search him. Then take care of his buddy then we quit this place."

Also, there is no sign of infection on that guy. He is just a run of the mill post-apocalypse human doing what most humans would do in that situation. Murder, rape, and steal. It will be nice for a game to really explore how most humans would react to that kind of end of civilization scenario.

Has it been discussed where it might take place? I think the trailer at least is set in Ohio.

The highway sign says "Colerain Avenue" which I Googled and is in Cincinnati Ohio.

Also there's a sign that says "Dennison" and there's a Denison College in Ohio. Spelled differently though.

Not that it means much since they said it'll take place in the United States which I guess could mean several places you'll end up in. But hey, I was bored.

There is no way ND is going to "move on" from Uncharted or TLOU (unless it flops). The reason why they moved from Crash is because Acti is the publisher, and that's when they joined Sony. Jak was their first Sony IP and from all the interviews it didn't make sense to make mature game on PS2 because tech wasn't there, so once PS3 rolled in, they decided to finally make something more mature, and plus no one cares about platformers any more. They were one FPS of all selling charts.

Also from interviews they made Uncharted to be a franchise that they could revisit as many times as they want. There is no trilogy or "the end". They could keep on making adventure for God knows how long.
TLOU is their first M rated game, another sign of maturation.
I am not saying they won't make new IPs in the future but they are not going to abandon these gen ip's for sure not.
For them to waste time on JAK 4, I mean that is beneath their level at this point.
I do believe Jak 4 is in development, but not by them.
Just like Sucker Punch let Sanzaru make collection and now Sly 4 so is
Naughty Dog letting someone else do the port, and maybe same studio will make Jak 4. With their help of course.

There should be more tampons in gaming
I'd like to see an emphasis on scavenging and forming bands of survivors and fending off pillaging gangs during the daytime while during night, an emphasis is placed on hiding and evasion of the infected. Food should have to be hunted to regain stamina or found, while bandages and supplies heal wounds that would enable the infected to find you. Medical supplies could also be used to trade and form unions with other survivors. The camera should be pan in during combat and I'm not sure if this is possible but have sides of the controller shake as an indicator of which direction an enemy is coming from. It would act as a representation of sound and/or touch. For instance if an enemy is approaching from the right the right side of the controller will vibrate or if the enemy is coming from the left that side will vibrate but if they are approaching from the back the entire controller will shake. Also this WILL NOT discriminate between friend and foe so players will have to be careful and not be too trigger happy.

I'm hoping for TPV from them... but also I'm quite curious how ND would do FPV. I have a feeling they'd go all out and make it much more interesting than the standard disembodied floating camera feeling of most FP games. They could show their animation chops in a new way... first person body. Best of that this gen has been Mirror's Edge, and probably Breakdown the gen prior, but I bet ND could do something really cool with it.

Guerrilla was a little disappointing in that regard this gen, but they had quite a lot on their plate. Hopefully someone will do it.
