What's the general consensus on bugs in this game? For an open world game and especially with the amount of freedom and interactivity, it seems that there's very little of: "this needs fixing immediately"
Typical Nintendo polish?

Polished as heck. Ive only encountered the Blood Moon glitch, but that can be avoided by shutting down the game every so often between sessions when putting the Switch to sleep.

Least buggy game of this scale, ever, probably.

A few notable bugs:
- Blood Moon glitch
- Whistle Running
- Bomb jumping

And... that's about it?

What's the blood moon glitch? I've seen it mentioned a few times but I've never experienced it.

Unfortunately, my shrine quests log is bugged. Even though I did do every shrine and got the reward for it, the log still shows one shrine quest missing. And I definitely completed that particular quest. For a completist like me, it's kind of infuriating. But other than that, it certainly is impressive that a game of this scale has so few bugs.

Yeah, that's what I thought. For the type of completely free traversal and physics involved I was almost expecting all sort of weird glitches, falling through the environment, getting stuck constantly etc...
Very impressive stuff

There are some amazing shrines in Eldin. I like Blue Flames the most.

Took me a while but I got it, thanks! To anyone who's looking for a bit of a more traditional Zelda-type challenge, I thoroughly recommend seeking out this shrine (Shora Hah). It's fun to get there, and the shrine has more puzzles than most.

Light stones or w/e they were called don't ever sell. Everything else unless you want a specific equipment are safe to sell imho.

Luminous Stones have become quite valuable to me just because you can trade 10 for
Diamonds
which go for a high price and you also need them to upgrade the outfit you get in
Gerudo Town
.

The worst thing is about 1 second freezes when Moblins are hit and ragdoll, and that's happened to me about 6 times over 80 hours. I guess they have a lot of floppy limbs. No weird graphics drawing issues or clipping for me.

Yeah yesterday I knocked down a Moblin from a mountain and the freezes were intense while the poor guy ragdolled down the slopes.

So say you do all the shrines, side quests, etc, but completely neglect Korok Seeds. What kind of completion % would you have?

Or to rephrase, how much of the completion % is Korok Seeds?

I've done all that and found around 50 Korok seeds and my completion rate was somewhere between 25 and 30%. So yeah, that's kinda bullshit.

Yeah, the closest thing to a bug I've encountered is the game having significant slowdown if I'm fighting monsters in someplace wonky, like a crook made of irregularly shaped rocks or something. Maybe it wreaks havoc on the physics engine.

The only other thing that doesn't really count as a bug to me was when I was in the Korok
forest, doing the quest where you had to tail the Korok without being seen. I followed him to the end, thought I still needed to stay hidden, so I snuck into the shrine without him seeing me. Then when I left the shrine, I got lost on the way back and the NPCs acted like I failed the quest. I had to do the following thing all over again and then revealed myself to the Korok at the end to complete the quest, even though I had already collected the reward.

Does anyone know if I can teleport out of a boss fight?

I made it to
Calamity Ganon
but I'm just not sure I want to finish this yet.

Can you only shoot the Dragons one per loop? Feels that way.

Yeah, they'll only drop one thing and then fly off into the sky to despawn.

I think I got a glitch once though where it basically spawned twice in a row. Like I shot it and immediately got hit by one of its attacks so couldn't see where the item dropped and had to look around for it, and by the time I found it I heard the music again and saw wind updrafts appear and looked up and it had reappeared, so I was able to get two items in a single run.

Yeah, this happened a lot for me. Dunno why.

The only bug I encountered was when I was running around in the fields and saw a chest floating a bit above the ground. Tried to get to it but I hit an invisible wall. Suddenly the ruins of a half burned building popped up around it. Basically that house failed to load for about half a minute. But hey, at least I knew there was a chest in there! Might have just run past it if it wasn't for that bug.

Apart from that, surprisingly solid game, apart from some framerate issues. Nothing that ruins the game for me though, and I'm playing on WiiU.

Any tips for fighting those giant dragons?

Also, whats the best way to get rupees? Just mine?

You don't really 'fight' those dragons (there's an exception but that might be a spoiler). They're not evil. You can shoot them with an arrow to get a special item, but you can do that only once per cycle. You can't kill them.

Money: sell meals, some go for 150, 200 rupees. Some NPC's give a lot of money for certain materials - there's a guy that gives you 100 rupees for a certain type of meat for example, and some NPC's trade certain things for diamonds (although you might want to hold on to those instead of selling them). You can also sell some materials, but know that almost everything is useful for upgrades later. Try to sell stuff that's worth something but not too much effort to get more of if you need it later.

I've beat 3 of the Divine Beast and only have the one in the
dessert
left.

For whatever reason, I just can't wrap my brain around what's going on here. I got two of the stations, but the other three, I don't even feel close.

I see the green beam I can line up along the ceiling, which leads to 4 "power switch" things that I can move a little bit. But I don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing.

Any hints?

Did anyone else have trouble with this Divine Beast above the others?

You don't really fight them, you just shoot arrows at the place where you need material from.

I get material from Farosh at Hylia Bridge. When you're on the bridge, he comes right at you.

I get material from Naydra near the Eastern Gate by Mount Lanayru. The one with the red Lynel nearby. She comes right at you there.

I get material from Dinraal at Tabantha canyon. There's a shrine in the cliff face near it and Selene Stable. He flies into the canyon and you can just glide at him from the side and take aerial shots.

The best way to get rupees is to do the Snowball bowling mini game near Hebra Tower. You get 280 rupees per strike.

He got lost on the way.

Ha!

Sorted it. He was still outside of Kakariko Village!!

I definitely went to see him earlier in the game and i remember him saying he was off to the Korok Woods. I'm guessing i died soon after and hadn't saved it or something.

I've only seen butterfly and grasshopper in this game. Are there any other bugs like those in this game?

Fireflies, crickets and several varieties of dragonfly can also be caught. A bug net might have been helpful for some of them, as well as grabbing fairies...

edit: I should have refreshed.

A meal consisting of 5 gourmet meats can be sold for 490. I think that's the highest price you can get for a meal in the game? Gourmet meats can be farmed from game.

My favorite hunting ground for this is
Hebra: get a horse from the stable and go for it. Only drawback is the meat freezing over when you don't pick it up immediatly, so go for close combat on horseback and dismount to pick up the spoils right when the animal goes down.

You dont even have to go horseback. I spent like 30 mins walking around that region and I got a ton of prime and gourmet meat pieces.

Just beat it.
You'll get a completion stamp so you know how little you've actually done in the game. I only had 17% lol

Bugs I've run into:
Blood moon glitch but only once where it actually caused an issue- was at a campfire in an enemy camp because it was raining. Was the only spot with an overhang for quite a ways, woke up from camping and got wasted.
Moblin glitch - not a deal breaker, just annoying
Bugged gate on the horse hurdle race - want to go around to the left instead anyway, stuff lines up better that way.

Least buggy game of this scale I've personally played. Skyrim at launch still takes the cake.

cool. once i get switch and this game, good amount of my playtime will be following them.

If you don't startle them, they only seem to wander a few feet in a random direction every few seconds. If you do startle them, they dash or fly away for about five seconds before completely disappearing.

Yes, this one was the toughest of them all for me. Its puzzles sometimes felt like a whole other level of difficulty lol.

It was my first. I struggled with it for 2 hours, couldn't figure it out at all, then left and came back and did it 20 hours later. It was by far the hardest one.

I remember having to time the connection of the moving parts so that I could run outside and get on the right side of the thing as it moved up so I could access the place, higher up.

Fuck, that was horribly ambiguous. It's been too long, I can't remember.

Thanks. I hope nintendo would patch more bugs in this game.

Red lynels are just too easy now. Time to try my luck with a white-maned one. Shouldn't be too ha-

I also went to a place called Typhlo Ruins.
That was a really surprising shine quest. It was like a redux of the Lost Woods. I also got a very coveted star fragment. When I saw a place to put a ball, having just done the Three Brothers quest, I knew what was ahead. Thankfully his eye glows.

I want to like this game's Zora designs, but at the same time, I keep being reminded of this...

tumblr_on4lipu59W1s2jfn0o4_500.gif

On a separate note, I felt like while the Hylians, Rito and Gerudo NPCs (particularly the latter) were really well executed in terms of having striking visual diversity among a fairly large number of background characters, the Zora and Gorons ended up feeling a little samey. The Gorons are understandable - with their physical characteristics it's difficult to do very much (unless they wanted to start giving them stripe patterns to resemble erosion strata, larger and more distinctive rock outgrowths, more varieties of 'hair' like Darbus' flat-top, or even the rock nipples from TP), the Zora generally have been more distinct in previous games, with a reasonably large range of physical characteristics present in a subset as small as MM's band. The king and his advisor demonstrated some variance, with the standard "Zora King" physique and a hammerhead head shape, respectively; but the rest of the species kind of ended up boiling down to colour variations. It doesn't make them bad designs by any means, and I do still like them for the most part, but it would have been nice to see.

Just beat my last dungeon - the
Gerudo one
. And wow, I mean - yeah, it was still kind of short, but that was easily the most complex dungeon of them all. Took me quite a while to see how to navigate my way through it! Really liked it!

Especially the built-up to the dungeon:
landing in the desert and trying to get near this giant thing really felt like getting near an AT-AT in Star Wars!

Also, I've finally found the last great fairy - may the farming of Star fragments begin!

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the game now has 58 perfect scores on metacritic. Now we can make the record breaking thread again.

Have you tried talking to the original quest giver again?

Xenoblade Chronicles, Dark Souls, and Breath of the Wild are truly genre-defining and game-changing modern experiences -- in short, they are gaming done right. They are easily in my top 5.

I couldn't help but be reminded of XC soundtrack at certain parts of the game. Rito village theme is something that could fit right into XC, for example.

The divine beast order I went through:

Elephant
Camel
Bird
Lizard

I believe it should've been through this order:

Bird
Lizard
Elephant
Camel

I had the most trouble with the
boss in the Camel one
and the last two were not that difficult. Better to get the difficult ones out of the way first. LOL

I don't understand why so many people seem to have problem with the stealth mission in Death Mountain because it is incredible easy if you let him stay behind, clear the area and call him to use him.

It was a nice touch and added a little bit of tension and since your escort stand still no matter what you don't need to micromanage him at all.

ANYWAY! Last night I was exploring and found the Forgotten Temple... yeah. Oh! And also why trying to get a pic of that giant thing in the back of Death Mountain I looked at the distance and
found a new labyrinth and went to explore it even if I didn't unlocked the tower so I couldn't see the layout from above.

Still, nothing will beat the one in the Akkala region and the underground section of that one.
