There's nothing wrong with server lists. Infact I prefer them, and by a long shot... well, as long as there's a ping field on the list that is.65536 said:Sorry, it's late here, I managed to completely miss that it's all done from a server list.
So, with all the advances that have been made thanks to the in-game XMB etc. PSN is still working like a PC game back in the 90s, great.
Or you could just post the name of the room and they'll join oOFightyF said:Man, with the extra time you'd think the online would be pretty set.
I suppose this means I have to add every single person from the WO online thread onto my friend's list? I don't think I have the room. The limit is 100 players on the PSN friends list, right?
You know I did the setup at 3am while somewhat drunk. I should have realised the Gaf spelling police would be its usual anal self.mintylurb said:took him long enough!

And I sent the correction first thing this morning!
Damn PS3! I hate typing things out with a controller!mintylurb said:It's realized...Haha man, I was just kidding around hence the smiley faces.
4. Something done with little forethought, organization, planning or precision.
FightyF said:Bingo, we've already discussed this in the PROPER F-ZERO THREADS so there's no need to talk about it here.

SolidSnakex said:The online play options can be added to with DLC. Given how big WOHD is likely going to be, they'll have a lot of incentive to keep tweaking the games options, as well as adding additional ships and tracks.
FightyF said:All the DLC that was planned has already been put in. So while I agree that it could be added, how likely is another issue. I think it all depends on the sales. Sells like crazy, and Sony will be inclined to do DLC.
Online Multiplayer - Up to eight players will be able to compete against each other in a range of online races, across several game modes:
--Single Race
--Tournament
--Elimination
--Team vs. Team (Two-player team based multiplayer races)

At $20 I'm hoping that the game will sell like crazy. You may think I'm nuts, but I think this game has the potential to be a killer app. Not many games out there are 60fps, 1080p, and as beautiful as Wipeout.
Imagine it packaged, pre-loaded, on PS3 hard drives. Even make a sexy looking Wipeout:HD on the box. Price it at $20 more than the typical PS3. Look at that freaking DVD reviewable version of Wipeout and how sexy that is...now imagine a big PS3 box that looked like that, and it was just $20 greater than the price of a normal PS3.
Daante said:Well Wipeout was one of the game/franchises or more likley THE franchise/game that helped defined the playstation back in the days. So if Sony are aware how damn good and important those games where for them back in the days i hope they really support/back this game up and beyond manage to make the "real" next gen Wipeout for PS3 truly awesome.
I still think its sad they havent talked more about this game in the public. Yeah fine they had some problems and was not sure about when they where gonna release it , but c´mon they didnt even mention it at E3 right?
*prays that sales go well*
FightyF said:Look at a game like Braid...it had really good word of mouth advertising and unanimous rave reviews which helped it sell very well, all despite not much of a marketing campaign outside of some dashboard ads. WO:HD looks to have unanimous rave reviews as well, hopefully the word of mouth follows and the game sells like like crrraaazy.
What would help too is a video on the PSN network. 1080p and 60fps. May take a good night to download it though, heheh.
Pulse is the sole reason WipeOut HD is my most anticipated game!PjotrStroganov said:I am astounded by the amount of people here that didn't play Pulse. The online portion of HD is exactly in the line of expectations if you have played Pulse.

Gamespot review (has it been posted?)
Negatives are pretty much that it doesn't off any new content from the PSP games...despite that being the point.
Firewire said:It freaks me out how many people say that this will be their first Wipeout! It just goes to show the appeal this franchise has though, and a $20 price certainly helps to.
Firewire said:Gamespot is trying to be controversial again, games don't matter only page hits do.
GameSpot review said:The split-screen mode runs at a noticeably lower frame rate than the single-player mode, and it suffers from some dramatic slowdown when a lot of ships are onscreen.
