The Road to E3 (List of possible games for the show)

Some Nobody

Junior Member
I got bored and I have this terrible, awful habit of creating lists when that happens. What you see here is a result of that. Now, this list is obviously incomplete and definitely won't be 100% correct, as I don't work for anyone in the industry and have zero connections to people who do. If anyone can think of any major games that might also make an appearance that I missed, along with any relevant reasoning as to why said game might show up, I'll edit these posts and add to it. Some of these games obviously won't be there, but for completion's sake I figured most of them were worth mentioning. And on the flipside, obviously, if there are any "surprises", I wouldn't be able to list them, so don't get too concerned if your favorite company's list looks a little light.

Publisher: Microsoft

343 Studios

JPDf1dxl.jpg

Halo 2 Anniversary: The game rumored to be released in lieu of Halo 5 at the end of the year. I couldn't find any concrete information that this game existed, only leaks from insiders and rumors/hints. Still, if it's a real thing, there's literally no better place to announce it than E3.

tFRm9IPl.jpg

Halo 5: On the flipside, if Halo 2 Anniversary IS a thing, I wouldn't expect to see too much of the continued, new adventures of Master Chief. It's certainly possible though--Microsoft worked their asses of at the last E3 to show a ton of games, and since they need to win over gamers I could see there being a Halo 1-2 punch during their presentation.

Lionhead

MKGxouol.jpg

Fable Legends: Operating off Epic's UE4 engine, Lionhead's co-op RPG has already made several appearances on gaming websites and had a decent-sized update on their blog not too long ago. It may not be the biggest game at Microsoft's presentation, but it'd be odd if we didn't see it there.

Black Tusk Studios

sYBJq0zl.jpg

Gears of War
: Supposedly this has been in the works a while, but even still the timeline just isn't in favor of any Gears' fan. The last game just came out sometime last year? Even if it changed hands not longer after and they started work immediately (highly unlikely) it's probably less than a year's worth of dev. time. I'd think this wouldn't be near a release until late 2015, maybe early 2016 so I doubt work is far enough to get more than a cinematic teaser trailer.

Capybara Games

Wec7pMhl.jpg

Below: The top-down roguelike adventure game focused on a tiny adventurer exploring and surviving on a mysterious island, Below hasn't really been seen outside of a trailer released last year, but it's still scheduled to release later this year, so an E3 appearance is likely.

Access Games

Gv05U94.jpg

D4: D4, or Dark Dreams Don't Die, is probably one of the Xbox One's quirkiest games...and also one of the quieter ones in terms of information. The only thing I could find was that currently its creator is trying to get the game to be perfectly compatible with Kinect (such that you can finish it with that alone). Pretty neat, but I can't imagine that's helping to meet the release date. Still, it's another game you can add to the pile that will probably make a re-appearance if only to boost the total number of games Microsoft talks about at the show.

Insomniac Games

QkGUJvm.jpg

Sunset Overdrive: Insomniac's open-world, acrobatic/parkour shooter hasn't been heard from in a while, but they showed the game off a couple weeks ago, and it's scheduled for a Fall 2014 release. From what their Twitter's mentioned we'll probably see the game before E3, but Microsoft's presentation seems like a good a place as any to announce an actual release date. (Also, for those curious, yes there's a full campaign.

Team Dakota

Project Spark: Microsoft's create-your-own world experience that allows users to create and share their own content. Project Spark had a beta not too long ago. Expect a final appearance at this year's E3 before the game releases later this year.

Remedy Entertainment

QMub94Tl.jpg

Quantum Break
: I'm not quite sure how Remedy's project is going to work, but since they've been silent on its existence since December's VGX, I can tell you two things: The first is that it's almost a lock to appear at E3. The second is that given it's unique nature as a transmedia project, you're also going to have to hear about its TV show. Enjoy.

Playground Studios, Turn 10 Studios

F1p0aQUl.jpg

Forza Horizon 2: Just a rumor at this point. But it's a rumor people feel fairly comfortable with, so who knows?

That's pretty much all I could find from Microsoft. I'll be the first one to admit I'm not a big Xbox guy though, so there's a good chance I missed one or three.

Publisher: Activision

Sledgehammer Games

qZPpAWwl.jpg

Call of Duty 2014
: I believe this whole "actual in-game characters" thing about as much as I believe that this time the majority of people will actually play the campaign mode instead of just jumping into multiplayer. (That is to say, not at all.) Sledgehammer's CoD has stayed under wraps so far, but I'm betting on a partial reveal (name, premise, new gimmicks?) soon with a full blow-out to follow at E3.

Toys for Bob

zJsenU0l.jpg

Skylanders: Trap Team: Trap Team was recently announced and is scheduled for an October 5th release, and given that it's a fairly successful franchise I'm going to guess it'll find its way onto the main stage at some point. The new gimmick with this one (if you were unaware) is that you capture villains in the game and then use them later to fight for you.

Bungie

ekMadVGl.jpg

Destiny: Bungie's magnum opus. It'll be out this Fall, so it'll probably be a big part of Sony's presentation/

One of the many things I learned with this list is that Activision pretty much exists only to create Call of Duty and Skylanders now. (And apparently the occasional licensed property title.) Given the profits these games turn, they aren't doing bad for themselves, but it's kind of weird to have so many studios but only 3 games a year. (Oh, and Destiny.)

Publisher: Epic Games

B5IRqgsl.jpg

Fortnite
: Epic's F2P sandbox game will probably pop up again. The game is scheduled for this year, they're one of the publishers that are supposed to be at E3, so with only six months left in 2014 at that point, expect a trailer with a release date if nothing else.

Epic's Secret Project
: What you won't see from Epic Games is whatever unannounced game they've been working on. Recently confirmed to exist, it's in pre-production, so unless you're looking forward to seeing a bunch of concept art, you can cross this off your list until next year.

Publisher: Arc System Works

qUm5lYKl.jpg

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-
: I know, I know--if this made it into an actual presentation I'd be shocked too. But Arc System Works is going to appear at E3, so there's a good chance they'll have some build of this on the floor since this is another game that's supposed to come out this year. Hopefully we'll get to see some impressions and possibly even some game play of one of the console versions (PS3 or PS4).

Publisher: Konami

Kojima Productions

DdObVGyl.jpg

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain:
: It's been roughly a year since we saw it last, and if it's going to come out between this E3 and the next, I think it should probably make an appearance. Plus, it's Konami's most popular franchise--probably the only thing gaming wise they're still consistent with.

Not-MGS: Worth mentioning is that Konami is budgeted to release seven titles in 2015. One of those is obviously Phantom Pain. The second is Pro Evolution Soccer. The third is most likely Pro Baseball Spirits. Now, it would be a mistake to expect the remaining four to be big, AAA-type releases...but I'd be surprised if at least one of them wasn't a major retail game.

Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

CD Projekt RED

JclFZa7l.jpg

The Witcher 3
: We haven't seen a new trailer from this since those few seconds the VGX gave us. E3 is as good a place as any to re-debut the most anticipated RPG without the words "Final Fantasy" in the title. Hopefully with a new trailer.

JSxRi1Dl.jpg

Cyberpunk 2077: I know a lot of people are under the impression that this game got placed on the backburner due to The Witcher 3 delay, but that's not true. With that in mind, it's very possible that CD Projekt will have two games to show us this E3.

WB Montreal

Suicide Squad: Okay, we know there's a Suicide Squad game in development. And supposedly this studio exists to turn DC properties into games. And then there's the ending of
Batman: Arkham Origins
. All signs point to a Suicide Squad game in the near future, and the most logical people to make it are WB Montreal. But will we see it at E3? Well, that part I'm not so sure about.

Avalance Studios

c3ZVm42l.jpg

Mad Max
: Teased at last year's E3 but delayed until 2015. The only reason we might not see it again is that Warner Bros. has a lot more to show than this game. Also, I'm not exactly sure where they'd put it in terms of the presentations.

Monolith Productions

bX2HVErl.jpg

Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor: E3 is the start of the hype cycle for games coming out in the latter half of the year and into the next. For that reason alone Shadows of Mordor has a fair chance of being a part of the show.

Rocksteady

bhNBMeml.jpg

Batman: Arkham Knight: Scheduled for a release this October and with little information aside from the Batmobile and a release date, an appearance at E3 is a given.

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Bioware

KiLAMXIl.jpg

Dragon Age: Inquisition: Truthfully, by the time E3 comes around this game will have revealed so much that I doubt much new information will be gleaned from whatever trailer will be there. There's been a release date announcement, information about classes, and more. If I had to guess, I'd say we'll probably see a similar trailer to the last one that hit, or a brand new one that's all of two or three minutes before we move to...

ZRMVIk5l.jpg

Mass Effect: First off, given the fact that we know it's not going to be about Shepard, and they went out of their way to talk about all the new stuff, I'd be surprised if this were called "Mass Effect 4", and not "Mass Effect: Ominous/Mysterious Subtitle". But what we do know is that it's been in development for awhile, and that Dragon Age: Inquisition hasn't slowed development down. Knowing both of these things, I'd be shocked not to see these guys premiere ME directly after DA:I, or maybe as a "one more thing" before the EA show ends.

Criterion Games

New IP
: Need For Speed developer Criterion Games is working on a new, unannounced IP that is supposedly beyond cars, that they hope to reveal this June. More games are usually welcome, so hopefully they make it to the show.

DICE

hnLAYA4.jpg

Star Wars: Battlefront: Briefly teased at the last E3, this will no doubt be a large part of Disney's attempt to capitalize off the franchise they bought, since 2015 will also see the return of Star Wars to film and the television with its new cartoon series. An E3 appearance basically just gets the hype train started early.

WGC4Cc8l.jpg

Mirror's Edge 2: But I'd be pretty shocked to see this one. Even though we got a good deal of information in March, a 2016 release date is too far away to start hyping when EA could pull off a pretty decent-sized conference without this.

Visceral

Amy Hennig's Star Wars game: This one should be obvious, but I figured it was worth a mention so no one got their hopes up. Considering she was basically just assigned to do this, to even say this will be in pre-production is getting one's hopes up too high. 2016 is probably the soonest we'll see this as well.

0eil8NS.jpg

Battlefield: Police Edition/Project "Havana": Another game people are confident exist, but we haven't really seen anything from.

And that's all I have for EA. Y'know, aside from the requisite sports games that we all know will be there. But they may yet have another shock or two in store.

z45n5Jkl.jpg

Valhalla Game Studios

Devil's Third: Itagaki's long in development game is supposed to finally see an update this year. Will it get a release date? And on top of that, will we finally find out what console it's on?

#DRIVECLUB: With rumors that the long delayed racer is set to release on the last day of E3, there's really no way they won't be giving this game one final push during their show. Initially meant to come out as a launch game, hopefully this extra time to polish the game has allowed the developers to hammer out all the kinks holding this title back.

Naughty Dog

2ZyWGUol.jpg

Uncharted 4: Naughty Dog's long-running, ever popular third person shooter, the continued adventures of Nathan Drake and friends in Uncharted 4 are almost guaranteed to make an appearance at Sony's show. There's been quite a few strange happenings leaking out surrounding Naughty Dog, but at the same time none of them have sounded so severe as to indicate this game is facing any serious delays. There's even rumors that the game has been in development for three years already, and that we'll see game play at the show. Here's hoping.

Ready At Dawn

G6ZidTRl.jpg

The Order: 1886: While I'm personally not a fan of a game returning to E3 after its first visit, this is another given due to it being one of the most well-remembered games from the last E3, and because it's most likely Sony's big holiday game. It also helps to fill out that list of 20 brand-new games that would ship on the PS4 between the console's first November and the one coming up, a list that still seems only about half full.

SCE Japan Studio

GravityRush2.jpg

Gravity Rush 2: We haven't seen anything of this since TGS last year, and that was just a teaser trailer that didn't confirm a whole lot. If Sony is willing to show a little Vita love this year, then Gravity Rush 2 could make an appearance. (Courtesy of fellow GAFer Acquiescence.)

Team ICO

sX9buwbl.jpg

The Last Guardian: Something something BELIEVE. No, but seriously. One of the last promises left from the last gen, is it possible Team Ico's final part of their trilogy will finally return to E3? My gut says no, but it's as much a possibility as anything else.

Killstrain, Entwined, Guerilla Games' new project, etc.: "Every Sony developer is working on a PS4 game", they said. So we have no idea what these things are, or even if they'll be at E3. But I'd be shocked if the first three games were Sony's only big guns. A year ago they had over 30 first-party titles in development for PS4, and while there've been some shake-ups, various posts around this forum have lead me to believe they still have somewhere near that number.

Publisher: Ubisoft

phnmjbMl.jpg

Assassin's Creed: Unity
: The latest in the AC franchise. We'll probably learn more about this game (real name, release date) before E3, but that won't preclude it from being a huge part of Ubisoft's presentation.

nT0G4Adl.jpg

Assassin's Creed: Comet
: Same as above. Right now we know only that this is a PS360 game only, and I expect that will change either just before E3 in May, or during the show.

dhPCvINl.jpg

Far Cry 4: With a rumored release date of Q1 2015, this just makes sense to announce here.

Ivory Tower, Ubisoft Reflections

o6X3tXJl.png

The Crew: Now scheduled for a Q3 release date, expect a second appearance of this game at E3 to kick off the hype cycle until release.

Ubisoft Massive, Ubisoft Reflections, Ubisoft Red Storm

JMT7g40l.jpg

Tom Clancy's The Division: Another game popping up for its second appearance. Maybe we'll finally get confirmation on whether this has been pushed back to 2015 or not.

7RdDO1Ml.png

Prince of Persia: The image above seems to hint at a return for this franchise, along with the rumors about a new 2D entry. Is it true, and will the game appear at this E3? It's worth being kept aware of, even if it doesn't eventually pan out.

Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Red Storm, Ubisoft Toronto

r2K7hEjl.jpg

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Patriots
: This one's especially iffy. There's been next to no news on the game since they told us it had to be remade last year. I'm mentioning it so people can be aware, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Ubisoft Montpellier

cqXuzYwl.jpg

Beyond Good and Evil 2: The phantom of E3. This game has been in development forever, put on pause so they could release the two Rayman games, and now they're back to work on it. Unlike Prince of Persia, we know this game exists...what we don't know is whether Ubisoft will show it to us or not.

Damn. I guess with 9200 people you can work on a lot of games.

Publisher: 2K Games

Turtle Rock Studios

kYUKz70l.jpg

Evolve: The unique, sci-fi FPS in which one player is a monster while the others hunt them down. Take-Two has a booth, so I'd expect to see this there if not on the stage itself.

Publisher: Square Enix

Crystal Dynamics

aCi9Dc4l.jpg

Tomb Raider 2: The sequel to this has been confirmed for over a year now.

IO Interactive

Y7GsgPXl.jpg

Hitman
: This one's more of a toss-up. We know it exists, but whether IO will choose to unveil it is another story.

Eidos Montreal

HZzS1wzl.jpg

Deus Ex
: Another game that we know exists. And Eidos will be at E3. This one stands a better chance of popping up than Hitman, honestly.

Avalanche Studios

GnCKqbjl.jpg

Just Cause 3: The Just Cause 3 domain was registered just a few days ago, but honestly there were signs for this months back. The main question at this point is can it find its way onto the stage or not.

United Front Games

5zgZWWal.jpg

Triad Wars
: Sleeping Dogs was and is a personal favorite of mine, so a sequel is something I've wanted for quite some time. Unfortunately, the only thing United Front has had to say about this game was that "they would share more with us next year", and the blurry screenshot you see above. Now, this game could make an appearance several other places during the remainder of the year, but personally I'm hoping to see it this E3.

Square Enix 1st Production

Po7uiOfl.jpg

Final Fantasy XV: Personal prediction: This game will make another appearance this E3, with a brand-new trailer and the release date people have been after for nearly a decade.

WoR3tYal.png

Kingdom Hearts III: Likewise, my personal opinion is that not much progress has been made on this game, so I predict (if we see anything at all) a cinematic trailer and then silence, as focus remains on getting FFXV out by next year.

Man, is it me or does S-E have the potential to stomp a lot of other company's E3 into the ground?

Publisher: Nintendo

Nintendo Tokyo EAD Group No. 3

gPZJZXJl.jpg

The Legend of Zelda: For a lot of people probably the most anticipated game from Nintendo, since we've heard so little about it. There've been rumors aplenty though. Mentions of possible inclusion of a top-down view, the rumor that it'd be like Skyrim. Personal prediction? This is this year's Super Mario 3D World for Nintendo. Comes out of nowhere and then gets released near the end of the year. I stand a good chance of being wrong, but I'm sticking with that.

Monolith Software

HG2HR5el.jpg

"X": It'd be nice if this game finally got a title, if nothing else. Since it already made an appearance at Nintendo's last big Direct, the next stop isE3, same as last year. Probably with a legit story trailer.

Nintendo, Tecmo-Koei

RURaMWJl.jpg

Hyrule Warriors: Zelda joins the list of video games who've had a Dynasty Warriors-esque game. First announced at an earlier Direct in the year, we haven't heard much on this game since then, other than that it's not "the new Zelda".

Atlus, Intelligent Designs

fHHp4Pml.png

Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem: Most people have forgotten this game existed. Some might even believe it's cancelled. What's most likely though is when they first showed it all they had was some basic ideas. Now, here we are almost a year and a half later--it's probably about time for a legit teaser, if not some gameplay.

Sora Ltd., Namco-Bandai

PwRoNdwl.png

Smash 4, 5: New trailer and probably any left-over character reveals considering both games have the same roster and the 3DS version is due out in the summer.

Platinum Games

u0il9gRl.jpg

Bayonetta 2: Whatever sort of presentation Nintendo has planned, I can't see this not being a part of it.

Publisher: Bandai-Namco

CI Games

x6NGgg3l.jpg

Lords of the Fallen: The other big RPG coming out at the end of the year. Probably won't be on the big stage, but will still be available to play.

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks

Arkane Studios

a5gk5Zsl.jpg

Dishonored 2: Darkness of Tyvia
: All but confirmed to appear.

Id Software

wUsgkskl.jpg

Doom 4: Another game that's expected to be at E3, especially given that a demo of the game will be included with May's Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Bethesda Game Studios

Fallout 4: This is pretty much just wishful thinking. Despite all the rumors and hoaxes, honestly, I'd guess that Bethesda would be focused on Dishonored 2, if anything. I wouldn't get my hopes up for this.

Publisher: Capcom

Capcom Online Games/SCE Japan

491qIlSl.png

Deep Down
: Should make an appearance if Capcom isn't still working on getting the Panty Raid engine to work right.

Dino Crisis/Resident Evil
: So Capcom is set to announce either a new Dino Crisis or RE7. Neither's been confirmed, but if I had to place money on one I'd guess RE7 for obvious reasons. Still, don't get your hopes up either way. Could be something completely different.

Frontier Developments

LRHxhJNl.jpg

Elite: Dangerous: One of two space combat games to be released this year, Frontier Developments is supposed to be at E3, so don't be surprised if you suddenly hear a bunch about this game.

Cloud Imperium

gQtKN4jl.png

Star Citizen: The other space trading and combat sim coming (so far) exclusively to the PC and the first AAA Kickstarter game. Space combat fans, get hype.

Publisher/Developer: Slightly Mad Studios

Project CARS: PS4/XB1/Wii U/PC racer due in November.

Publisher: SEGA

The Creative Assembly

0gePgvSl.jpg

Alien: Isolation: The first-person survival-horror game that aims "to get Aliens right", with SEGA making an appearance at E3, expect this to be on display.

Big Red Button Entertainment

ekvFLWCl.jpg

Sonic Boom: Nintendo's last Sonic exclusive.

*exhales deeply* Well. That took...longer than I expected, collecting all those images and crap. But it's all I could find/think of. You tell me, GAF. Did I miss anything?
Also, lol yeah I doubt all of this will pop up at E3, too. Would make for an amazing 2015 though.

I think it's safe to add Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars from United Front Games

Edit: I'm stupid, great list

Vico

You could probably add Forza Horizon 2.
And stuff like Project Spark, Below (though it's a smaller game, right).

I'll take Fallout Next, Mass Effect Next, Battlefront, Deus Ex Next, The Witcher 3, Halo, Quantum Break.

I don't think I even need anything more than that to be pleased. And they're all likely to be present.

AniHawk

really comprehensive list. others that may be there would include oreshika (if sony's for serious about the rpg thing), yarn yoshi, hyrule warriors, and maybe the persona trio.

Pretty sure Ubisoft will announce a new Just Dance game as they've done the past few years at E3. Developed mainly by Ubisoft Paris.

Quentyn

Good list. You could add Battlefield Police Edition from Visceral. That should be announced soon.

Also some stuff from 2K should be there like the new Borderlands and Civ. And from Disney Fantasia and Disney Infinity 2.0.

Isn't KH 3 confirmed to appear at this years E3?

Is it? I think the status of it and FFXV are both a bit iffy.

Oooh, I'm really not sure how I forgot Project Spark (aside from just the length of the thing) since it was the one thing I saw from Xbox that was REALLY appealing.

Activision will also have Destiny.

Now how I let this slip my mind I'm not even sure.

Nice list, cheers. I think it is entirely possible that BioWare will show the new IP instead of (I don't think they want to talk about three games at once- or maybe show another one at GamesCom, since we Germans love BW) ME though- if I recall correctly, they mentioned that all three games (DAI, ME, new IP) were playable last December.

I think we might still get another teaser for Halo 5, think Reach. And it might be too early for Gears of War, specially if MS wants to focus on this year's line-up.

Man, I am looking forward to this E3 :)

Forza Horizon 2! Although I think it won't be named like that because they would have to set the game in the Festival context again. I would be very ok with this but I doubt it's going to happen.

Totally forgot Bioware had a third IP to show. If it's a big enough deal you might see it at E3, but I could totally see them saving it for Gamescom as well. That'd certainly be nice.

I'm not going to bother making a Last Guardian comment.

lol. I feel like I could be banned for saying this, but I honestly forgot about TLG because I don't really care about it. Which is weird because I don't care about a lot of games on this list, but still.

If you don't mind, I'm just going to yank this since it's formatted properly and everything. :)

E3 is so close yet I still haven't heard whether Nintendo is having an actual conference this time. Has anyone heard if they're going the Nintendo Direct route again?

The Dishonored 2 stuff was proven to be fake if I remember correctly (the game is happening, as is Prey 2, but the promotional / presentation material was fake).

I wonder if Bethesda will really have Doom 4 beta access for Dishonored Pre-orders as well as Wolfenstein. Could be an older plan.

Good list btw.

Wait what is that Dishonored 2 fact sheet they talk about? Is it referring to the old images they posted or did one of their sources confirm it?

I'm hoping for Miazaki's SCE game to show, whether it turns out to be Demon's Souls 2 or not, and hopefully news on Crackdown 3. I'm also hoping for word on Project Nagano, but that will probably be at TGS.

Sheeeeesh!

At this point I wish Sony would just either confirm Last Guardian's existance or put the baby to bed once and for all.
