- Best Shooter Controller
- It IS a next-gen system
- It's natural that it's a very powerful system
- Best looking version will be on Wii U

Well, that's that.

HYYYPE!
You forgot one aspect: If the Wii U didn't offer a competitive online infrastructure, they wouldn't do the game on that platform.

Gummb

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about Rayman Legends Wii U.
I still need to catch up on this OS news, but here is my initial reaction:

Couldn't Nintendo potentially double or even tripple (if 2 UPads are available) their OS? Say one person is playing a Wii Game on the TV, one a Virtual Console game on the first UPad, and another a WiiU game on the second UPad?

This is obviously optimistic and unrealistic, but I see a potential there to blow us away...

axisofweevils

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Someone start the thread!
Trust me to go to bed just before some major HYPE hit.

You'd be blown away by how many resources Nintendo wasted to achieve that completely useless feature, leading to Wii U games looking worse than Wii games in Dolphin, yes. ;)

I hope they are not disappointed when their games sells only some 100ks.

At least the suckers/guys are trying:[

I won't tell anyone else what to do but unless I hear bad shit about this game, I'm going to pick it up even though other games are bigger on my radar.

These guys seems enthusiastic and not mopey about the new system.

Miis only suit the game when there is virtually no theme. As in, they do indeed suit a very generic-looking sequel to some very generic looking games.

For a Nintendo console. Even with that though, he seemed super excited about the feel of it, and how it handles.

Yeah, for a Nintendo console. The Wiimote+Nunchak combo was miles ahead of any gamepad as a shooter controller, without having to resort to any kind of aim assisting, so this is a very interesting statement indeed.

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
Very encouraging indeed. Also, the game is looking fantastic.

Looks like something I'll probably pick up. Btw, saw a preview of this and Darksiders II on xplay the other day. This looked great while Darksiders is not doing it for me. It was only a boss battle, but the gameplay looked kinda derivative and the animation seemed a little choppy. Actually, Aliens looked to have choppy animation too, but that may be because of the strobe effect of the lighting.

Was it though? I've heard complaints; usually in regard to the problem of turning.

If memory serves, Spike has carried MS the last couple of years with G4 carrying at least Nintendo's. That was boss in 2010 but now DirecTv dropped G4.

The streams are fine but it was awesome watching on the big screen.

AirPlay is my friend in these situations. I'll get to watch this on my tele, streamed as it happens, sitting on the couch at 4am, whiskey by my side, nothing but my robe on.

Wii U will let you play two games at once.
I really hope this is why they have reserved so much. The ability to play 1 primary App in the main memory space, and another secondary app in the second space would be awesome. Even if they confine "Apps" to be secondary, along with VC games, and Wii U games to be primary I'd be happy as fuckery. My wife could watch a movie while I play on the tab.

Edit: Holy Fuck, Randy Pitchford's words about the Wii U were great. The best thing I heard about that was that he basically states that we don't need to worry about online. Hopefully that will shut some people up.

I've heard complaints from people who were not able to jump precisely enough in the first Super Mario Bros. Those who didn't give up stopped complaining soon.

This is the same thing. Of course it's nowhere near as fast and precise as a gaming mouse, but no gamepad can even be compared to it. Well, except the Wii U gamepad if we can trust this guy.

Can anyone ask my question from the last page?:

So, as I watch Dateline, per usual, I craved for the ability for the Wii U pad, because as much as I enjoy these murder mystery shows, it's better to multi-task while watching them. Anyway, this brought me to the question: do we know if all Wii U games will have the option to switch to the pad, or is it going to be the developer's choice?

Too bad he couldn't talk about the online infrastructure. Seems like it's going to be up there with XBL.

E3 is so close
Hype is on the rise
Don't you guys sweat it
you're all in for a surprise

Can anyone ask my question from the last page?:

If all it is, is streaming, then I believe all games will be able to switch to the pad.

No we don't know if it's mandated yet, and if you think about it, there are some games that just won't be able to switch because they rely on dual screen for inherent gameplay.

I imagine in the end it will be up to the developer.

Find what's missing.
So gametrailers isn't streaming it to their site? What am I supposed to watch it on now?? I have a barely working computer that probably won't work for streaming (I will push it as hard as I can if I have no other choice) and don't have G4.

I only have a iPad...if gametrailers doesn't let me stream the conference on my iPad then will anyone else?

I can't fucking miss this...I WILL NOT MISS THIS!!!!!!!!

I've got to believe its up to the developer otherwise certain game play ideas would be impossible, like using the wuc as a virtual catching mitt in Wii sports, for example.

After what happened last year with the official Nintendo stream, I think I'm gonna have 2 or 4 streams opened at once.
Just be sure not to cross them. (Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light... Oh, wait, that's what happens at every E3 anyway.)

About the OS/Wii U "software layer", its memory size, etc.

I got a confirmation from a different source that the ones i'm usually referring to since the start, that the data revealed 2 months and half ago (with other following messages, please search in speculation thread 2, 3 & 4) about the "OS" is right. Right on the "surprising" comment, right on the at the time expected amount. It's huge, surely never seen before on a normal home system.

Nota Bene:

- It's still on a v4 dev kit context, so relevant a few months from now, a big semester before the system launch, so it's likely to change.

- Cross-read/understood/analyzed with the info in regard to third-parties left in a roughly vague knowledge of the Wii U OS/Background status until recently (they don't know the "real" dashboard for example, etc.), it could hint toward:

---> Nintendo reserved a certain amount of memory (at least 512MB to be clear) without knowing the exact space that the Wii U OS will take once completed, they made a prevision of that with a noticeable additional room, in case it will occupy more place. In the end, it will be more reasonable size-wise than this locked space. Considering the OS size of the other systems, it's pretty sure that it will remain the biggest software layer seen on this kind of platform. This anticipated trimming could free up some memory for games. As projects are being developed with a limited amount of memory from the total pool (the rest is for the OS/background/system features), we could expect a 3DS situation where developers, once the OS is optimized and slimmed down, will be able to use more memory.

---> Or the software layer will indeed match the amount reserved for it in the dev kits. Then, we can really expect huge features, multi-tasking, etc, on the Wii U.

- More to come about that (especially on the OS "storage") soon.
Jesus, 512MB for the OS? That's as much RAM as the 360 has, period! I know we're already speculating this, but Christ, how much does the unit have if it can spare THAT much for the OS?

Link.
He come to town.
Come to save. The princess Zelda.
Ganon put her away
Now the children don't play
But they will, when Link save the day

As said many times before, once they finalize the OS it will be a lot less than that. It's only for debugging and considering they don't know how much memory they will need for the OS until they have actually finalized it, it's reasonable for them to use that much. Eventually they will release some of that memory for the developers to have access to.

Alright, that kind of worries me a bit. Hopefully that becomes a usual thing, because that was one of the coolest things I thought when it was announced.

I am pretty sure nintendo.com will be streaming it. They did a good job last year.

And right after the conference ends, you will probably be redirected to their e3 site with exclusive videos with Miyamoto, and other developers, awesome trailers, and games that weren't discussed in the conference.
