Just found out The Last of Us was made by Naughty Dog a couple weeks ago, was honestly kind of surprised.

Aques made a bunch of sports games for the PS1. "Who the fuck are Aques??" They're everyone's favorite JRPG developer, Square (Aques is an almost-anagram of Square in Japanese). Just as Square used the brand name "Squaresoft" for their main games, they used "Aques" for these obscure, Japan-exclusive sports games.

Square continued releasing sports games on the PS2, now under their main brand Squaresoft. They seem to have completely stopped after the merger with Enix, with the exception of All-Star Pro Wrestling III which came out four months after the merger. Of these, only Driving Emotion Type-S was released outside of Japan.

The Dark Souls of Kinect games

The crazy thing about Heavy Armor is that the kinect tracking was so buggy you couldn't actually play the game.

Underneath that, it is a super interesting game with a ton of content and systems.

I'm really hoping someone eventually mods the game so you can perform the kinect actions without having to use a kinect so I can finally play this.

It might be made easier using VR.

Spider-Man 2 (& Web of Shadows) by Treyarch

Not that those games are bad (I loved Web of Shadows), it is just after Treyarch was associated with COD, it was kinda a shock when I found out that both games were developed by them.
Same here. I have no idea when they were kicked off Spider-Man, but even if they continued on through to the bad one's right before Shattered Dimensions, they at least made several of his best games.

Pretty much every decent game dev company that wasn't owned by a publisher has done some form of licensed contract work along with original games. DICE is a pretty big example balancing out Battlefield with zero budget license titles (Barbie Secret Agent) and full budget contracts (Rallisport Challenge, Midtown Madness 3)

EDIT: Treyarch made a bunch of Spider-Man games before they became a COD factory. Didn’t they also have some involvement with the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series in some way? I think they ported one of the games or something.
Treyarch ported the Dreamcast versions of THPS1 and 2, and I think they also did the DC port of Neversoft's Spiderman game.

Name three Blizzard games that aren't Warcraft, Starcraft or Overwatch.

Blackthorne
.

Rock n' Roll Racing
.

The Lost Vikings
.

Kinda cheating, since they weren't known as Blizzard back then, but the studio is the same.
Lost Vikings was sick. Played that a shit ton when I was a kid. Never beat it though.

A composer variant: Jeremy Soule, known for his work on the Elder Scrolls series, had made a bunch music for various Humongous Entertainment games I played as a kid.

What do you mean Kotor2 wasn't developed by Bioware? I wasn't too interested in industry back then so sequel being done by diffrent developer was big suprise.

Kings Field by From Software.

Looking at their current games I see the connection. But didn't know anything about or care about the companies back then. I just knew that was one of my favorite games on PS1.

I love Dishonored and I love Dark Messiah and I completely didn't draw the line that they were both developed by Arkane for way way longer than I should have.

F-Zero X was made by Nintendo. No, seriously, this game has a theme inspired by the intro of a song by Carcass:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9v5qFRA6Gw

The game features a few Death Metal songs with "proper" distorted vocals". It's also pretty much a death race, there's even a mode that has this name. If you didn't know F-Zero is a Nintendo ip, you wouldn't believe they could make a game like this.
What the? I have the F-Zero X Guitar Arrange soundtrack but never really listened to the original OST (never played the game either) and there's no deathgrowls on it, it's all instrumental haha. I had no idea. And yeah that Carcass riff, and those deathgrowls, haha holy shit. Never knew about this.

Myth one and two being developed by Bungie blew my mind when I realized it many years later. It still seems weird to me that those strange RTS games that I loved, but sucked so bad at, back in the day was developed by the people, or at least the same company, who made Halo.

Rockstar Presents: Table Tennis was always a weird one for me and continues to be weird in retrospect. Just a solid table tennis sim.... From rockstar games.
