Tim League of Alamo Drafthouse extends mercy to noted blogger/molester

The fact that those DMs that Knowles was sending were back in JUNE and Tim had been actively protecting another creeper Devin for the entire year is astounding. Like is Tim cool with perverts or something and he just chalks it up to his friends 'messing around'?

This just popped up on my feed accompanying the story:

Perhaps this is new thread worthy?

How long until stories about Tim himself leak?
Nothing specifically about him has come out, this is more like a Paterno "buck stops here" situation where he kept associating with these people after this stuff kept being reported to him and helped cover for it.

Not to absolve him of anything, but the poster did note she didn't share these with anyone so Tim wouldn't have been protected Harry on these since he probably didn't know.

Oh I'm not saying that Tim knew those tweets but he was aware of Knowles being a pervert and avoided confronting him about it way before then. I'm just saying it's a bad look for him that he seems to handle these situations with perverts quite poorly and not decisively. He better hope no more stories continue to pop up with him being associated with 'troubled folks'.

Is Knowles one of the people that chooses what plays at the fest?

No. He's not involved with Fantastic Fest programming. AICN were sponsers/partners, they're a big name in Austin genre fandom obviously, even if they're nowhere near as influential as they once were (you can see that in this thread). But Knowles has nothing to do with Alamo festivals or day to day running. He just runs in the same circles as a lot of Alamo staff obviously.

He can't use the "confidant" card if there's other accusations...

Harry sexually harassed me. he has sexually harassed other women in this community for years. this wasn't an anomaly. he is a predator.

it's unfair to solely blame the Alamo for this. several people in our community (local and not) knew about it and chose to ignore it.

several people who *did* know felt powerless when faced with the weight of that knowledge bc this community has emboldened Harry for years.

he seemed sort of untouchable. and sure, that was partially due to his relationship with Alamo.

some people didn't know until this week. some knew but felt helpless. others thought the allegations were rumors.

in every instance, there is an immense feeling of guilt. everyone is hurting right now. we need support, not outrage.

Maybe another...

So close to opening a can of worms but I don't think I'm strong enough to do it. To the women out there who do use their voices - ❤️❤️❤️.

You guys are amazing. I don't think tonight is the night to share my story, just because there are more important stories to focus on.

That being said, there are some amazing women out there who have been able to speak up that have made a lot of us feel like we aren't alone.

But I've cried twice tonight before getting over here to FF because I realize I've spent over 8 yrs feeling shame & like no one believed me.

& maybe one day soon, I won't have to feel that way. Just not today. So to all the amazing women & supportive dudes out there, I love y'all.

I'm also feeling massive guilt over being at FF, but I just hope you guys know it's my deep love of film that got me on that plane today.

Not my need to be in some cool kids festival club. I love movies. I love indie movies & that's what I'm here to celebrate.

Crazy to watch this all happen. Good on Drew McWeeny and others for abandoning AintItCool when they did.

I mean look, I get it.

Curating and coordinating festivals like this is a monumental undertaking and these films/"scripted events" are scheduled and planned months in advance, but what kind of tone-deaf motherfuckers are allowing these types of shenanigans immediately following the fallout of bombshells of sexual harassment?

What on earth are they thinking?

I like how this is going from bad to worse. I guess this is what happens when you're so far up your own ass you can't even see or smell the shit anymore.

I can't imagine doing that job. It's one thing defending a guilty person so they get a fair trial. It's another defending the public image of a total shitbag.
If you develop a conscience, morals, or ethics can you file for workers comp in that industry?

What a total shitshow across the board. The combination of immorality and sheer stupidity necessary to pull all this off is insane.

So . . . who approved of that film? Like, a new Ed Wood film is a neat thing. The content of said Ed Wood film probably should have been clarified way in advance.

Also, with everything secret, they could have changed the film and no one would have been the wiser. Just . . . what were they thinking?

To what extent is the Ed Wood film pornographic? I thought he retired/died long before commercial porn came into existence.

the The Square stunt sounds dumb

the ed wood movie seems like it's being blown out of proportion, considering that ~~~viral~~~ facebook post is from someone who didn't see the movie and several who have have come out to say the ire is misplaced:

TAKE IT OUT IN TRADE has NO sexual violence & explores same-sex relationships and drag like it's NBD-in 1970. It was Ed Wood's last movie.

I'm a little lot angry. As a film historian I know that Ed Wood film was not what folx are saying it is. And? IT WAS PRESENTED WITH CONTEXT.
Choi also has a bunch of follow-up tweets about how it's very softcore and how positive its depiction of same-sex relationships is, and how much of that was contextualized at the screening.

Basically this seems totally misplaced and hasty but considering FF's inability to can scum like Knowles these kinds of side conflicts were bound to erupt.

So Devin Faraci will be back at Birth.Movies.Death in no time. Ugh. The past year without his BS DC rumors has been really nice.

Really sounds like a nice place...

Wow. Tim League is just as complicit and as bad as any of these sexual assaulters and rapists. He should not be let off the hook.

Also, some more rumors of the shit Harry has done. Keep in mind this is at Tim Leagues festival.

On one hand, this is kind of cool. On the other, it's a great scene in The Square because it's depicting something that crosses the bounds of what's acceptable. It's great in the context of the movie. It's missing the point to bring it to life.
Curious how far they actually went.

Moviehouse and Eatery is a good alternative to Alamo Drafthouse. The food and beer selection aren't as good but the seats are more comfortable.
