It's completely blatant that this is a decision based on money and nothing else. He was probably bribed by big companies.

I find it amazing that he hasn't been kicked out of office for his greed and corruption
Comcast and att have been paying lobbyists for a while to AstroTurf how unfair google and Netflix are to these poor gigantic isps

And trump basically let one of his friends nominate the FCC head, and this is the result.

Net neutrality will be next because the same lobbyists for Comcast and att hate that as well.

Outside of VPNs, if more and more websites (cough neogaf) use encryption by default then the ISPs would only see the websites you visit and nothing else. Google is encrypted by default. Webmd is not. This needs to happen everywhere.

Wtf, I hate Trump now.

Im sorry, now?! Now you hate him? It wasntthe open racism and hate, the fucking disgusting ass scandal last year, the way his admin is running everything into the damn ground or his horrible business ethic and hate for everyone not him?! Its this?! Fucking this?!

Edit: I need to sarcasm better.

I'm trying to figure out the Republican angle on this. Scraping data to get more precise info on which way people will vote right down to the house? That would be extremely useful.

Here's a list of all the members of the House and Senate (all Republicans) who voted for it, and how much they were paid by telecom lobbies.

Rule 41 means the FBI can go after you regardless of what you're using to hide.

With the way things currently are, anonymizing yourself could lead to putting yourself on their radar aka "what does he/she have to hide?"
That's the FBI. Rule 41 has nothing to do with ISPs selling your information to whomever without your consent.

It's possible, but I don't think the Republican justification for this goes much deeper than "this will help large Telecoms make more money."

Probably a favor for that data mining firm that helped propel Russia and Trump to victory

The only positive thing that could conceivably come out of this, is that potentially it would get more companies to invest in infrastructure because the profits are going to be much greater. I.e. google and facebook are going to be competing against ISPs now for selling data and they might want to accelerate their plans to become ISPs themselves.

Of course as my State Rep John Moolenaar would vote yes and it only cost $12,500. At least if you're gonna bribe that shit stain Fred Upton (and yes, Kate Upton's uncle) he's gonna wanna see the big bucks.

Just for reference, Michigan population is approx 9.9million. He sold you out for less than a penny a person, that is how much he cares about those people. You are literally worth less than a penny in his eyes.
