We've added a few more options to the ini file.

FOV - changes FieldOfView in-game (excludes cut scenes)
EnableDOF - set this value to 0 to disable depth of field effect
EnableHDR - set this value to 0 to disable bloom/glare effect

Is this the S4-SETTINGS.ini in the main directory? Should we just append these onto the bottom?

Does this have any changes beyond the PS3 version? Besides the technical improvements, of course. I recall hearing that the original game had a very hard task regarding getting the true ending on your first playthrough, and I'm a sucker for canon endings...so yeah. :3c

Also, how taxing is the time limit on the game? I LOVED the third game, but you could also go at your own pace, which allowed you to enjoy it fully.

I don't think it's even possible to get the good ending on your first playthrough because some things in the world have to be in a state that they don't start in.

I believe that beyond a certain point in the game, events stop being tied to a specific day and you can't accidentally miss them any more, so at that point you can just fool around forever.

Oh dear. What's the quickest way to get them in that way?

Realllllly not a fan of that kind of approach. Never needed that in previous games...

I think it would take three playthroughs to get it set up. There are some areas that get opened up or shut down depending on what you do, and you need two of them open and one of them closed for the purposes of the good ending.

It's really not designed to be done quickly, because you need to already know what you're doing to even be starting it.

In addition to the logistics, you'd probably just get stomped if you tried to go directly into that route with the starting sword/style.

Edit: I just checked it out, and it's not even possible to attempt it with a new character. I actually have no idea at what point the option appears, because I just played aimlessly for ages before trying to figure out anything specific.

Gaah..what would be the quickest way to trigger what's needed for the conditions of the true ending to be possible?

Awesomeness!

Now, if only the accessory customization had more points for you to use... Wink wink, nudge nudge.
I mean, those limits are just because of the limits on the PS3, right? So on PC we could probably have like a billion more.

Alright! Puzzled out how to then went and got the Light of Hope ending on my 6th run.

Dual wield stance!

Time for this guy:

What are the best students to hire for a dojo?

I've heard girls, maids and foreign women are the ones that give you the best rating the fastest but I'm not sure if there are any betters.

I have 3 girls, 3 foreign women. a blondie solider and a maid and i've got a 2 star rating so I dunno?

The number of students matters too, get 20 in there to max it out. And it's mostly the samurai, and the knights that will get the rank up to max.

What a great game

I was doing The Light of Hope on Harakiri and got as far as the JJ part when I realized I had forgotten to close the casino ;___;

After I do this I only have the silly railroad ending and the true Pranja ending to finish.

Then I'm off to do the unique nightcrawls.

I've got a 2x big shot sword at 404 strength and a 2x Life and Death sword at 107 strength I never use but just hold when my vit is low, then I have a 367 damage 1x big shot sword that I had as a backup but I decided that I think I wanna just make a cool looking custom sword and upgrade it to max you know? Just ignore charms completely since I have a 2x bigshot (could go for 3x but 2x basically one shots regular enemies on hard) and 2x Life and Death and make something super cool.

Any ideas? I'm thinking of using Warhead as a base because it matches my usual get up that consists of the Punk Kimono, speaking of which does the punk kimono have a full length bottom? I've only ever seen some stores carry the short one.

Gives you a chance to get J.J's gun at least and I think the punk kimono only has a short wrap.

The worst part is I decided not to buy the gun license yet so I couldn't even pick up JJs gun and profit from my misfortune lol.

And that's a shame, I love the punk kimono, I normally wear it with the indigo kimono bottom or the black hakama.

I forgot about that, but yes that has fixed it for some people.

Speaking of which this is something I can't find a fix for the steam forums, but some times if I'm in combat for too long or special event music starts playing it will only play through once and not loop back.

Is that a common issue?

Just went to start this for the first time and upon clicking play game... nothing happens. I get the Steam Status that says ingame for 2 seconds, then nothing.

It's a known issue, but we've not been able to get a fix for it as of yet.

is there anywhere else except on steam to buy the game ? It's now back to 27$can compared to the 20$ with the last sales and I just got the money for it.

I've been playing this for a bit now and I've gotten 2 endings, I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface of it and I don't know how to dig deeper. How do I get to the point where I can just change stances, use guns, and duel wield?

Are there any updated guides other than the ps3 ones on gamefaqs?

Very few styles let you change stances but I'm sure Kinugawa's and Kotobuki's styles do. You can also make your own ideal style that can incorporate switching. To use guns you need to beat Charles on hard difficulty. He's the second opponent in the Prajna route tournament. For dual wield I think you need to get 1000 kills, but I'm not sure. You can check the requirements in the unlock menu, they're near the bottom.

Awesome thanks. I'm off to fulfill my destiny as Bologna Kenshin.

Any way to deal with screen tearing? Can't find options ingame but have vsync on with triple buffering in Nvidia Control Panel to no avail.

Just bought the game. But I'm having problems with the stratus XL controller. The buttons are not recognize and certain menus are not showing up when I hold buttons. Also the back arrow and start arrow are not able to be mapped. Also where are the DLC? I bought all of them but I can't find them in game?

One character offers you quests, and the DLC is exclusively quests from this character. He's near an inn.

The weapon DLC allows you to pick between two swords when starting the game, IIRC.

You're not given a "this is DLC!!" types of remarks in the game if that's what you're looking for.

Ah ok thanks! Now I just need to figure out this controller problem. :T some actions I can only access when I use the keyboard while the rest is on controller kinda sucks. Maybe I will end up doing a refund on it. Is the ps3 one have English subs?

The PS3 version is literally the same game, though it has some atrocious screen tearing, IIRC.

I can't speak on your controller ills. I play PC games with my PS4 controller.

What kind of game is it ?

It looks very interesting from the OP !

But gaffers tend to oversell everything so...

Is it a bit like Yakuza ?

so I played this game right before Yakuza 5. Love the goofyness. Love you can chat with any guy, and say " I'm allowed to kill you right here "

and every gal you can hit on, if you succeed, she gives you her place, then you need to sneak in, ala MGS, then the mini game for love making, omg, this game.

Love also what happens when you get caught for your crimes, yes, you can take anything from any vendor, and leave without pay;

never understood how sword forging, repairing worked.

Never really understood the story too. First time, went nice with Laura Litta and foreigner. Ended up boiled in after the championship.

Second time, made friend and did more mission with the xenophobics cunts, ended up boiled too.

Fuck this game a bit.

It's a very goofy and poor's man Yakuza. It's much more open narrative wise, as the game is very short but you can have 3 very different playthrough because their are 3 factions and tons of endings. It's meant to be played over and over as stuff carriers over. It's kinda unique and fun but very flawed and rigid, but also hilarious as tons of shit are batshit insane, see my comment on " hitting on " gals

Walk away after winning the tournament.
