Yeah Shane is weird about IX.Visualante said:IX is a mess? That's the best game.
i've always had an "the enemy of my enemy" kind of relationship with shane. he champions the "other" side of gaming more than most personalities, but his opinions on certain things just baffle my brain.Osietra said:I don't understand why people spunk over Bettendorf, he seems to be a shill. Unless its irony?

BocoDragon said:I keep hearing from Shane about how he can't beat FFXIII, the last boss is hard, etc.
He needs to upgrade his weapons. That's it.
That's the whole reason he can't beat it, I'm sure.
Franklinator said:Off topic, but I just wanted to jump in and say that I finally watched The Totally Rad Show and I enjoyed it.
I'll try a demo if they put one out I'm sure.Massa said:I actually thought Xav turned that segment into an awful preview for the game, his complaints didn't make sense and he sounded way too bitter about it.
Y2Kev said:Shane leaving podcasts killed the radio star.
StuBurns said:Speaking of Shane, I think the reason the last boss in FFXIII is kicking his ass is no one has told him about getting the items that lower the chances of death hitting.
Other than that the fight is pretty easy, but that adds a level of random fail to it that's very cheap. It's possible to just beat it without using that, but it's massively harder.
Stoffinator said:I really like the show, but I found this episode rather slow. Maybe just the content didn't interest me.
The WORLD has embraced iOS. It's a platform. It has massive amounts of games, even real games. You should just as soon ignore Wii or PC than ignore iOS.Balb said:Yeah it's been a while since I've listened to this podcast and it's a bit jarring just how much they've embraced iOS.
Agreed. Most of his complaints sounded petty.Massa said:I actually thought Xav turned that segment into an awful preview for the game, his complaints didn't make sense and he sounded way too bitter about it.
StuBurns said:His comments about BC2 are bizarre. Maybe I'm mistaken but it doesn't update thru Steam, it's from the game client, they don't have to wait for Steam cert at all as far as I know. Even if BC2 does go thru Steam, it doesn't have to. EA games often don't, Crysis 2 for example.

I'm fairly certain they had the intent of the cartoon right on the podcast.Goldmund said:The referenced Penny Arcade comic seemed more about how questionable the argument that forty bad games are better than a single good game is.

The reality for me is that even as a gamer, an enthusiast, a true adherent, my phone is enough even on a trip. Period. The premium cache associated with Portability capital-P has been obliterated, being portable is insufficient as a motivator when I have multipurpose computational sliver perpetually en pocké.
I didn't even know there was an item that did that. I'm surprised he is having trouble with the last fight. I thought it was pretty easy.StuBurns said:Speaking of Shane, I think the reason the last boss in FFXIII is kicking his ass is no one has told him about getting the items that lower the chances of death hitting.

I agree with that sentiment. I don't think that's what the comic is about, though, or only partially.Tobor said:I'm fairly certain they had the intent of the cartoon right on the podcast.

I tried it three or four times without it, never got passed the bit when both the white and black balls are present, got the item and creamed him first time.Rahxephon91 said:I didn't even know there was an item that did that. I don't see how you could come to that conclusion. That's the commentary for that specific comic. It's clear what he's saying.Goldmund said:I agree with that sentiment. I don't think that's what the comic is about, though, or only partially.
This podcast isn't aimed at the world, though. If anything it's aimed at the ShackNews community. The fact that iOS has massive amounts of games does not mean that people who actually take the time to download and listen to this podcast want to hear them discussed ahead of PC titles.BocoDragon said:The WORLD has embraced iOS. I don' think it's that clear. The commentary is about the strategy behind the 3DS specifically and all handheld gaming's prime differentiator -- portability -- having been obsoleted by the ubiquity of smartphones.Tobor said:I don't see how you could come to that conclusion.
