What "hardcore" like titles are lacking on the Nintendo Switch thus far for you?

So far I've been loving my Nintendo Switch, as far as the experience on the hardware and OS front, the device truly is a dream come true.

Only problem for me now is that I'm generally a fan of deep and interesting action games (usually of the Japanese variety) and so far there hasn't been much of that on the Switch yet. I know with Nintendo these kind of games usually come down the road so I'm not worried but I'm hoping sooner or later we will get more games geared towards the hardcore gamer.

For me I'm super interested to see what Platinum Games and FromSoftware are up to for the Switch, they've both been on the game partner's list for the Switch but so far we've heard nothing from either.

Another developer I'd love to see join the Switch library is Cave. I'm a fan of shmups but western developed ones usually do nothing for me. I bought and played some of Graceful Explosion Machine and it was way too generic for me overall (even though it was a fun distraction here and there). So to have some beautiful shmups on the Switch would be a dream come true for me. I used to play the shit out of Ketsui Death Label on my Nintendo DS back in the day.

So what kind of games or genres are absent from the Switch thus far that you'd love to see in the future?

I think a lot of companies were waiting to see if the switch would take off or not. Now that it has I really hope that they will jump on board and 2018-2019 should look amazing on switch

Porn games I guess. Doesn't get anymore hardcore than that. Motion controls and portability means I can play porn games on the go to show how hardcore I am.

I mean, anything, really. Major Western or even Japanese third party titles. Not that I think they can be brought to the platform without significant compromise.

Realistically, so many indies are missing. I was going to list a bunch, but then I realized this just ends up being yet another port begging thread, so whatever.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I'm not really interested in anything that's going to be on other systems and look better there, due to the Switch's specs... so unless it's exclusive, I can't see myself being interested in something from FromSoft or Platinum.

I think the model for what I'd like to see would be Super Bomberman R. Now, hear me out. I like that Konami went back to an old franchise and brought it back with a fresh coat of paint. It might not have been a flawless effort, but I'd like to see more of the idea. More old-school genres represented, more arcade-y fare than plodding adventures. Yeah.

I'd also like to see M2 doing more work on there; particularly with the ShotTriggers series of shmups they've been putting out. They supposedly still have an original game in the works.

I'd love a good turn based strategy/tactics game. I know that Advance Wars-ish one is coming. My dream would be XCOM 2.

We'll see about the Mario game.

I have a hard time seeing a ton of hardcore non nintendo party games being released on this system, at least ones that I would like to see on the system. I play FPS online shooters (no way thats happening), and soulsborne like games (doubt they comes over). Luckily it looks like nintendo is going to deliver with all of their major first party games in the first two years of the system to justify a purchase anyway.

Definitely speaking my language here. I think it's safe to assume that whatever Platinum is cooking up for the Switch, it's gonna be an exclusive because they'll also make sure they utilize some of the Switch's unique capabilities. FromSoftware I'm not too sure about, I too would pick the superior console version if they decide to release a game on both platforms.

I'd love to see Konami go full on nostalgia and bring back new games from their franchises. Like give me a Contra Shattered Soldier 2 or a new Castlevania game.

An M2 ShotTriggers release would be great too. Progear on the Switch would be a nice addition considering it's a horizontal shmup and would be an easy fit for the form factor of the device.

I was considering picking one up for Monster Hunter, but guess I don't need to unless Monster Hunter World doesn't scratch my itch.

So, all of them? There's nothing on the system that would compel me to buy it at this point.

Unless it's exclusive, I honestly don't think any consoles could replace PC for my "hardcore" titles unless it's some games where the population lops in favor of the console, regional or otherwise.

But for portable gaming, I think I would like some kind of mystery adventure games on it. I don't mean the likes of 999 and Danganronpa, I would much preferred realistic and superb characterizations.

Third-party games, I guess. But I figure even with the Switch's success whatever third party games get made that aren't still Nintendo staples will most likely sell like shit anyway...

Turn-based strategy is the biggest thing I'm missing right now as well, although I have enough of a backlog on the 3DS to tide me over, and maybe I shouldn't complain if I haven't played the full release of Disgaea 5 (although a grind-based RPG is not really the flavour of TBS I am talking about). The other thing I'm lacking is a 2D obstacle-course platformer to succeed the likes of NSMBU and DKCTF, the kind that has plenty of content to keep experienced players happy as they close in on full completion. Oddly, given the precedent of Woolly World, the next Good-Feel Yoshi game is a good candidate to fill this role in 2018 despite how simple it looks right now. Indies will hold the fort for side-scrollers generally, though, even if they fall into different subsets of the genre.

I really hope Rabbids Kingdom Battle has something to offer for strategy veterans, while titles like Hollow Knight and Wargroove have been at the top of my third-party shopping list from the start.

I'd like a deep building/economy management game, but as with RTS, I don't ever expect those genres to be a presence on consoles of any sort, Nintendo or otherwise. The likes of Civilization Revolution just don't cut it. Double-dipping on Stardew Valley is the closest we'll come to that.

I don't care for FPS, and Graceful Explosion Machine unexpectedly ticked the Platinum combo-action box for me in a small and targeted way.

I really enjoy my Switch however, to date, most genres are unrepresented. Things I'd like to see and expect from Nintendo (and partners)

Platformers (2D and 3D)
Action games (Bayo style)
JRPGs
Kart Racers
Smash Brothers

If they can hit these genres, I'm good.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Multiplayer RPGs of any kind.

I just want a larger variety of games. I know I'm going to buy the thing some time in the future, but at this point it's hard for me to justify it.

To clarify, I mean a spread among all genres, including at least barebones 3rd party support. I play a lot of different kinds of games.

It needs a good FPS. I don't know if it's a genre that I'd call "hardcore" these days but it's something the Switch is clearly lacking.

I'd like some Platinum action on switch, for sure.
Feels like the biggest thing missing from Switch (since one isn't even announced yet)

Other than that, there are no first person shooters announced for Switch. First...er- First Person Shooter to be announced is Metroid Prime 4.

I don't have one, but I think it needs an original From Software "soulslike" game or even a new Armored Core.

I guess my problem with all the people saying things like Souls is, is there any precedent for a game that visually looks like that selling well on Nintendo in the last like 10+ years? I'm genuinely curious.

I know that MHXX was announced, but I still feel like the Nintendo Switch would have greatly benefited from having a hunting game on launch.

-Dark Souls 3. Would really much more enjoy Bloodborne more but I know that's not going to happen. I bet they could really do some fun stuff with local multiplayer.

-Resident Evil 4-6. I don't much of a reason to wanna play these games again, local multiplayer would be a blast.

-Final Fantasy XII. The upcoming PS4 release is hugely conflicting as I would much prefer having the game portable and playable in bite size instances.

-Dragon Quest IX. this game needs a proper remake, the multiplayer is amazing to me, would love to blow through it with my friends on our switches.

-Grandia 2. The steam edition is a good port should be easy to use, simply just love the battle system in this series.

I think this is just going to become a Switch port begging thread. There are so many games we all wish would come to Switch. I just hope we manage to see even a small fraction of them.

I think I'll be satisfied with all genres once xeno and skyrim come out, though I'd love to get more stuff in the vein of skyrim that's newer... It works for me cuz I've never fully played that game, I'll def want more once that's played through.

I need to see some third party jrpgs. The DS and 3DS had an amazing library in that regard, mostly sustained by Square and Sega / Atlus. And they both have some projects in development for the Switch: SMT and Octopath Traveller. If those get the ball rolling and the Switch becomes the new default system for jrpgs, then I'm set for life.

Just finished Prey. Something like that would be awesome. I doubt we ever would tho...with the failure of Dishonored 2, Prey, and Deus Ex, I don't even know if PS4 will see another one.
