What is Bloodborne 2?

Refinement doesn't always make a better game or sequel. If that was the case every sequel would he better by default since it just added on to what's already been established. BB lore is complete its weapons and gameplay is fantastic, the surprises and settings, just more of it would be dull and expected. BB was unexpected after so many Souls games that's what made it awesome and the game that follows it up needs to be equally as unexpected which means not just a no.2 entry.

Refinement doesn't always make a worse game, either. Some sequels surpass their originals and there is no way to know until it happens. I'd rather they try and fail then not try at all, since even a 'failure' would still likely be great and worth playing. There is no such thing as complete lore since a good writer can always find the cracks to fill in or expand upon.

I'm good thanks, not everything needs to be milked dry and franchised. BB was a perfectly self-contained story and universe that doesn't need expanding on.

It'd be cool if they made it a little more open world, maybe added a climbing mechanic and a cooking system and called it The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

If they ever made a Bloodborne 2, I want them to go whole hog on the dream aspect. Gimme crazy impossible visuals like Moonside Lake or the introduction to the Fishing Hamlet.

Does the main character die at the end? I'm trying to understand why new moves, new location, new enemies, new weapons, new powers, wouldn't be a *duh* obvious approach.

I feel there's lots more to explore in the BB universe. There must be other parts of the world that have been in contact with the Great Ones.

I'd love another game set in that world. Maybe like 1000 years after the MC becomes a great one, and Great One / Human hybrids have become a master race of some sorts that normal people are rebelling against.

I'm afraid Bloodborne 2 will just play and feel like a bigger version of The Old Hunters with a new setting.

I really, really don't want this.

Future setting. Cyberpunk.

If they make other Bloodborne games, I want them to each have a very different setting and theme.

Bloodborne 2: cyberpunk

Bloodborne 3: post-apocalyptic Western in the vein of Blood Meridian

Other cities, other hunters, other gods, other plots...We've only seen two cities close up. Our playable character travels to Yarnham From somewhere, there must be other livable places in the world.

More cainhurst-ey architecture would be sweet.

Pre-fall Yarnham would be interesting to explore, it was obviously a grand place. Or the next cycle in the far future would be interesting too.

I don't see the possibility of transferring Bloodborne to a new setting. The biggest thing that differentiates Bloodborne from the rest of the Souls series is the no-shield, sidearm + main weapon gameplay. I just don't see them transferring this outside of Bloodborne ... it would be too completely different of a game to have the Bloodborne name on it.

But hey...

This logo is a thing of beauty.

I agree with the majority, a sequel doesn't need to happen, but if it does and From do it right, oh boy.

Unrelated, but I'm playing DS3 on PC downscaled from 4K at the moment, I would do terrible things for a BB port. I know, I know, it's not going to happen. But jeez DS3 looks amazing, can't even imagine how good BB would look.

Armored Core something right now, then Dark Souls IV or something. Dark Souls is like a Final Fantasy type deal to me now, you can take a few years off but I still want more before this generation ends.

Leave Bloodborne as is. The game is great but it is time to move on to:

Dark Scifi.

Something akin to Gieger/ Warhammer 40k visions of the future, plus Souls.

My hope is that if they do make a Bloodborne two that they do something like explore another society built atop the Pthumerian catacombs at a different time period. Think like, how would this go down the fourth or fifth time a city has been built upon the blood.

No. Out of the three endings,
one has you freed from the Hunter's Dream and left on the streets of Yharnam, one has you trapped in the Hunter's Dream as Gehrman's replacement, and the last has you defeat the Moon Presence turn into a squid baby-looking Great One.
None of that matters anyway because any hypothetical Bloodborne 2 would almost certainly star a new character.

The reason why people say there's no room for a sequel is because the setting of Bloodborne is very well-defined after the Old Hunters. Also, the big twist of the game (That it's
Lovecraftian horror
, not just
gothic horror
) has already happened, so there won't be the same surprise in a sequel.

Because that's essentially what Old Hunters did and it kinda sucked.
Are you joking? The Old Hunters is amazing. Best bosses in the game, amazing level design, tons of new weapons that helped fix the lack of variety in the base game, and the amazing aesthetic impact of the Fishing Hamlet.

In one of the last few of their interviews, FROM already stated they're currently not working on, and don't have any future plans to work on, any sequels, tie-ins or similar to Souls or Bloodborne games.

I'm really not a fan of how much Dark Souls was milked in retrospect, so just leave it be. That being said, I'll check out everything and anything FROM decides to release next even if it's a fucking pinball game.

EDIT: Sorry, if speaking hypothetically, I have a pretty petty/weird thing to throw in. I don't really like how much clutter was added to the environments after DS1. I'm sure there wasn't much due to technical limitations, but I liked the sparse and empty atmosphere of those places while Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 added such a large amount of clutter to almost every room that I found it too busy and overwhelming to look at at times.

Just received my sealed copy of Bloodborne GOTY edition, so excited to play it for the first time.

Is this your first From game? If so, just two things

1) Give it a few hours of trust at the start, the intro is deliberately hard to shake you down. One or two bosses later you get the swing of things and get more confident.

2) Please don't spoil anything for yourself :p
If you get stuck, just try to get the bare minimum amount of information needed to go forward. And read item descriptions.

To each his own. I didn't feel like much of the magic of the original Bloodborne was there. I went too far saying it sucked... definitely didn't suck.

And
Laurence
is the only boss in any of the series games that I truly hate.

This is the best advice possible for this game, tough it out when you get stuck. On my first playthrough I got stuck some place fairly early in the game and I searched online how to get past it and got spoiled on who was the final boss lol.

Too many people think that a sequel automatically needs to improve upon the first game and if there is nothing to improve then it's not worth it. I obviously want to see game developers be ambitious but I'd be perfectly happy to get a Bloodborne II that played pretty much exactly the same but with just a new setting/story/characters/weapons.

On the other hand if they change things too much you'll get people comparing it to DSII. Can't win!

I would take a new Bloodborne any day. If From don't wanna return to Soulsborne then I respect that.

I'll second that and add that you should absolutely READ EVERYTHING the game offers you. All the answers are there pretty much. Read all the menus, the stat descriptions (L3 or R3 or something while in the menu), item descriptions, item descriptions during loading screens bla bla.

there are a lot of lore in bb's universe still to explore and know about it, so making bb2 is not like milking the franchise, i really want to know more about the hunters, the church and the
ones

I still can't get over how good of a game Bloodborne is. Even people who don't like the game can't deny that it perfected exactly what experience it set out to provide.

I don't think they need a direct sequel, do a spiritual successor of the dark soulsesque gameplay in a completely new setting such as sci fi.

Considering half of the dlc was bad, not super interested. I'll play it, but not for any plot hooks. Hell, I loved Nioh and the plot in that is essentially dynasty warriors.

Also didn't Myazaki work on the Bloodborne concept and lore for many, many years?

I fear he's gonna George Lucas it if he forces out a sequel.

I've beaten Dark Souls 2, 3 and almost Nioh. So love a good challenge. Cheers for the advice.

I know next to nothing about the game.

LTTP thread coming?

Haha! Most likely :)

opus, meet magnum opus! :) ...

Well played.

There was an apparently false rumor a while back about Miyazaki collaborating with the creator of that twisted Berserk manga... so Tentacle-Porn Souls?

As for BloodBorne 2 -- as far as I know Sony owns the IP, they just need to find the right studio & director to attach to it, ideally FromSoft. But first, they'll need a contract...
