I've been looking for that Game and Wario game that came out near launch forever. Seems pretty rare..
I rounded out my Wii / Wii U collection a month or two ago and Game & Wario was one of the more expensive games used. Was hard to find for less than $30.
It's actually got some neat uses of the GamePad too.
Indeed I have posted a bit about how underated Game & Wario is. There are a lot of different great parts about it.
It was re-released as a Select last spring with Tropical Freeze, Wind Waker, and NES Remix Pack. It actually was pretty pricey and uncommon before that happened.
So I remembered I bought Game & Wario for like $28 a few months after release. I couldn't remember exactly where I got it. I searched my email and Amazon records and didn't find anything.
Then I remembered I joined GAF around that time and searched my posts.
So after picking up Lego City and Monster Hunter for $20 in the Gamefly sale he's what I have for Wii U:
NSMBU, Sonic Racing Transformed, Zombi U, Tekken Tag 2, AC III, Warriors Orochi 3, Black Ops II, Arkham City, Darksiders II, Injustice (the first game I have ever sold, will get GOTY edition because way too much DLC), Need for Speed Most Wanted U, Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate, Lego City Undercover and NSLU.
I have Wonderful 101 on preorder for $53.99 from Newegg but they take a little while to ship so I have some a little time.
The Target deal would cost me $127.20 with tax. What other games would I get with this deal? Sure Pikmin 3 is great but I still have the first two in my backlog, by the time I got to it it world've probably dropped in price. Game and Wario is only $40 so the discount would be smaller. Rabbids is only $30 online. I'll like to support Ubisoft and pick up one of their 2013 games at full price and the rest later at discount but Rayman and Splinter Cell don't interest me as much as Watch Dogs (which isn't that highly interesting to me) and I feel buying WD would have the best impact. Rayman is selling well on Wii U compared to other platforms while SC sold horrible on Wii U already. Should I just wait and skip the sale?
Does that returning one game and keeping the $20 discount for the rest really work? I know two have said it does.
So that whole returning a two of the games and getting a 33% discount works and I got Game & Wario for $27.66. I've done it several times since then most recently getting Breath of the Wild Wii U for $40 a few days after release.
I wonder why I mention Watch Dogs since that game wasn't supposed to come out till November that year but then was delayed close to release till May 2014 with the Wii U version launching in November 2014.
Injustice GOTY was leaked through a retailer listing at the time for Wii U as well. When it did come I just bought a new copy for $10 cheaper than what I sold it for and bought some DLC.
The Pikmin thing is funny in hindsight with that game being $100 for years until the Nintendo Select version. Surprisingly soon after Pikmin was rereleased I found a sealed copy of the original release in a Target clearance section. It rang up as $50 because the Nintendo Selects releases are different from the originals. I was able to convince the associate to price match the Nintendo Select version online for $20.
A lot of my Wii U first-party games were discounted. For example through a Target offer combined with price matching I was able to Buy Mario Kart 8 for $35 and use the Club Nintendo code to get a free game launch month and trade it in to Gamestop for $37. That year's Black Friday I got both MK8 and the recently released Hyrule Warriors for $30 off of Sears.com.
I got Devil's Third for $30 at launch from a preorder offer from Dell.Com. Last holiday I got a new copy of Wooly's World for $15, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash for $25 and Star Fox Zero for $30 but SF0 had fallen to $25 on Amazon earlier.
