What he described would be assault, so yeah, it would be pretty illegal.
How often have you seen former National Security Advisors publicly offer to exchange testimony for immunity? This is most definitely a BFD.

you could have just waited to see too, but you're here to point out all this is also a form of instant gratification and a lack of discipline.
Someone like Trump was probably an inevitability at some point, but his rise was perfectly timed between the rise of internet culture and a deregulated traditional media environment. The chains were already weakened by an inculcated hatred of politicians, devolution of government on a local level, and the concept of money being enshrined as a form of free speech.
And so, the defense of Trump ended not with a bang, but a whimper...

It's to be expected in today's world of instant gratification.
Why would they give him immunity at this point? Theyve already interviewed him once and he hasnt given any indication as to what information he would give in exchange so fuck it. Worst case they can offer him immunity later if they absolutely must, right now they dont need his testimony at all. Not to mention the potential of him needing to be prosecuted himself

Not even deep down. It's on the surface. From the start he's tried to make it seem like he had a big win but got push back on it immediately. First the pictures of the inauguration. Then he tried to claim his electoral win was bigger then others and got push back on it in the same press conference I think and he dropped that right away. As the popular vote number keep rising for Hillary I take some pleasure in knowing it was driving him insane. In the metrics he really cares the most about he lost to both Hillary and Obama in the end even though he got the seat (which should be the important thing but not to him). I agree he will never be able to let that go.
My theory is that he does ask them directly but still posts about it on twitter to rile up his base and get the support that he feels he needs for validation.
Remember the 5 minutes after the election when Trump was gracious towards Hillary - she was a great opponent, we don't really want to lock her up, that was all just populist pillow talk. Oops, now he needs a scapegoat again; Hillary, you evil mastermind! She can't keep getting away with this!
