Xbox Store Countdown to 2017 Sale Thread - includes daily and weekly offers

Agreed, some of the bigger games will likely get patches or some smaller games where devs want to shoot for a new revenue stream (people want games that take advantage of their new console), but the majority will not get patches. (like has been the case with PS4 Pro)

However, Microsoft has already stated that games with dynamic resolution and unlocked framerates will automatically take advantage of the hardware. This is because the hardware will not be artifically locked down like how the PS4 Pro does to emulate a PS4. (to guarantee the same experience)

Even games with a target framerate will automatically be able to stick to their target where they would drop on the XB1. This will vary game by game, but in games that support dynamic res and/or unlocked framerates, most games will likely always hit their max resolution and their max framerate. Most locked games will likely always stick to their target framerate as well with no drops. I would expect this to be the rule, with of course some exceptions.

Edit: The above is already the case for the Xbox One S, but since the hardware difference is minimal, the noticeable difference in framerate/resolution is also small. Digital Foundry demonstrates this in a few of their videos.

I agree. Games that have unlocked frame rates or dynamic resolution will absolutely benefit from it. For example Halo 5 should run at 1080p all the time. Witcher 3 as well.

Still not seeing the 360 prices up yet, thinking about picking up Bioshock Infinite.

Also, whats up with the shitty pricing outside of the US?

Mad Max for 10USD but 40NZD? Like what?

Is this a regional thing? I'm not seeing prices for 360 games that should call for this sort of reaction.

Also, great-googly-moogly, I was regretting not getting Catherine for $5 last time it was on sale. Just bought it for $3.

They pretty much double or triple in price when they go BC compared to previous sales. There is the odd one that doesn't like Deus Ex. It's just a bit annoying when I've seen the games much cheaper but didn't buy them before as I had other stuff to play or want to replace with a digital version now. They probably kneecap their sales raising them like that instead of gathering interest for future games or making a nice profit on old games like they always did at the price they were happy with before BC. I mean really, look at Bioshock games, that's a ridiculous price.

Fucking £15 in the UK.

£30. This is absolutely bullshit pricing.

£14.85

£20.00

Can't be fucked with this sale.
I mean it sucks but it's so damn easy to buy from different regions and get some of the best pricing for those games on any console that you can find.

Got the Fast and Furious standalone game, as I didn't have a Xbox One back when it was released for free. Still hoping for Horizon 2 Bone version, maybe as a part of a daily deal matching dat 360 version price!

Purchased Dear Esther, considering Layers of Fear and Mad Max, but not sure yet.
Mad Max seems really fun, but in general I suck at racing so it may be a poor choice for me.
Anyone played Layers of Fear?

I love Layers of Fear and think it's highly underrated. It's my personal 2016 GOTY (though to be fair I didn't play a very large amount of 2016 games). I haven't been into horror games since the PS1 era, but Layers of Fear rekindled my love for the genre and prompted me to pick up and enjoy multiple other horror games this year.

So it looks like I've got most week 2 deals in the OP now.

Remember that you still have about 11 hours from now before week 1 deals expire, so buy 'em while you can.

Mass Effect DLC... still waiting...

Yup, ridiculous PSN has it on sale, but Xbox doesn't where it makes more sense to put it on sale due to BC recently. Not even anything through EA Access.

There may actually be one thing I want from this sale now. Catherine! Wanted to beat that on PS3, but never did and I can't see me going back to last gen consoles for things now. Shame as Catherine, Demons Souls and Ni No Kuni were all things I wanted to beat.
Saying that it's still showing up at £14.99 on the UK store. Is it not active for 360 stuff yet?

There are like 10 training/practice levels with 3 optional objectives each and you are able to do Terrorist Hunt missions solo. That's pretty much it though for single player content

I got mirrors edge, state of decay, Catherine and South Park. I'm not a EA Access subscriber and quite frankly I couldn't give a shit about 900p or whatever resolution it is, owning both platforms I prefer the Xbox.

Forza 2 for $15 is about the cheapest it has ever been, and it's not that bad. I'm guessing though that most of the people reading this already own an XB1 and can just get that version of the game. Last year, I bought it before I owned an XB1 and had a ton of fun with it.
