XSEED E3 line up [Brandish, Senran, Story of Seasons, Akiba's, Corpse Party]

They should have left Brandish in Japan and put that manpower towards TiTS.

Those SK games are already in my Amazon queue as of yesterday.

Brandish kicks ass, pure and simple. For those who played and didn't enjoy the SNES version, give it another try here -- the PSP version literally fixes every single thing that people disliked about the original while adding a bunch of extra stuff too (like more complex boss battles, and 10 additional dungeon floors that you play through as Dela), and may very well be one of the best dungeon-crawlers I've ever played.

I'm also the translator on it, and can assure you I've gone to great pains to keep the dark, eerie atmosphere of the game wholly intact. No inserted humor, no memes, none of those things you guys have hated me for in the past (heheh) -- if there's anything weird or silly in the translation, it's because it was weird or silly in the original Japanese and has been translated accurately.

I even made some of the boss names a little less Engrishy to keep them from breaking immersion -- Crab Devil, for example, is now "Karkinos." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karkinos)

I'm really looking forward to this one being released, as I think it may be my best translation work to date (especially given the tight character limits!). I'm pretty proud of it. ;)

Really glad you guys are localizing this game. Wanted to play it since the second it was announced, and I have always hoped someone would bring it stateside.

So glad to see TitS:SC is gonna be at E3. First Chapter is one of my favorite games of all time and I'm praying for a release date for SC.

What are the chances of older LOH games for PC being released on steam if the SC and later ones would do good? Too outdated to make profit from them?
They'd have to be completely re-localized. Bamco gave 3-5 on PSP a ridiculously horrible translation, turning the plotlines into gibberish, and even messed with their combat systems for the worse.

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
How many characters are in Dekamori? How many are DLC?

Yeah have avoided those three. Was about to buy them when they were released till some people who had played the original one said they were crap and not even handled by Falcom. It would be nice to see the entire series (up to six anyway) available on PC and since Falcom hasn't made any remakes of the older ones recently the older ones would be the only way. Sadly I don't see many gamers wanting to pay for such an old game less it's cheap, only a limited target group would but then liking JRPGs these days is like belonging to the minority anyway.

BRANDISH?!?

I have asked for this localization forever. It remains the only PSP game I have imported, and it is amazing. I will definitely buy this again!

Any chance for a limited physical release, such as an online-only deluxe (like Class of Heroes)?

Wow. Got a lot of questions/comments in the short time since I last checked this topic! Let's see...

What are the chances of older LOH games for PC being released on steam if the SC and later ones would do good? Too outdated to make profit from them?

We have discussed the possibility, and I know both Brittany and I would be *so* down for it. Probably not likely to happen anytime soon, but... hey, you never know what the future may hold!

They should have left Brandish in Japan and put that manpower towards TiTS.

Clearly, you don't know Brandish very well. ;) Not only is it an AMAZING game well worth the time and effort, it also isn't a text-heavy title by any stretch of the imagination. The text that's there is important, to be sure (it provides the clues you need to solve the puzzles you encounter, and enhances the atmosphere significantly), but there's so little of it compared to our other projects that the manpower for this game has basically just been... me. In my spare time after work. For a couple weeks.

Trails is not suffering for my efforts, believe me. ;)

What is going on with Trails, though...

Bottom line notes that they'll be at E3.

Trails 1 and 2 will *not* be shown at E3. Our apologies for the confusing wording in the press release -- we mentioned them at the end as a sort of reassurance to you dedicated fans that we have NOT forgotten about them and they ARE still coming, but sadly, neither is anywhere near "show-ready."

There have been a mountain of technical issues with this game holding it back, but they're well on their way to being solved, so hopefully we'll have more info about them soon.

No release date for even Trails 1, though, at this point, much less Trails 2.

How many characters are in Dekamori? How many are DLC?

10 to start with, 22 total counting the second pack and the 2 DLC characters.

Does this also affect progress on the PSP version of 2nd?

No, but the fact that the text is still being translated does. ;) I can't stress enough just HOW MUCH TEXT Trails 2 has in it. The end is in sight, but we still have at least another couple months to go before we're there -- and then a little more time after that to finish up editing.

Any chance for a limited physical release, such as an online-only deluxe (like Class of Heroes)?

Sorry, but Brandish is pretty well set as a digital-only release.

Pack A has 13 different characters while Pack B has 11. Got no idea if Xseed is gonna release each pack separately or just release them as a bundle.

Erm... I'm pretty sure each pack only has 10 characters, and then there are an additional 2 DLC characters on top of that. Your numbers are not adding up, good sir! ;)

(To be fair, I could be wrong, since I'm not personally involved in Dekamori's localization -- but I'm still pretty sure there are only 22 total, not 24, and I know each of the two packs have an equal number of characters in them.)

Based XSEED overlords. Will buy 3 digital copies of Brandish PSP on Day 1, and every lover of good video games should do the same. GOTY 2014 right there, folks.

Brandish PSP in English... can't thank you enough Tom.

They should have left Brandish in Japan and put that manpower towards TiTS.

I'm not that kind of guy, but fuck you and fuck that. Falcom is much more than just Ys and Kiseki, plus this will not affect SC's translation progress at all.

(My bias is sickening, I know.)

Oh, I thought you were pretty much done with that by now, guess not. You make it sound like I should prepare myself for a possible 2015 release.

Strange, that's what Siliconera said, but I'll take your word over theirs since they might have made a mistake. My bad.

@Tom, will Dekamori characters be released in bundles/DLC like in Japan? Or all together?

I think all we've mentioned so far is "10 characters (22 counting DLC)," so I'm not saying anything beyond that.

You can read between the lines to get your answer just from that, though. ;)

Wait, is that the original Corpse Party? Like the one currently on PSP?

Yes, although there are a sizable number of differences between the two versions, which I outlined on page... 4, I think? So it's good for series newbies AND returning fans alike! Win-win for everyone! (And perfect timing for an announcement, too, what with PewDiePie starting the PSP game a week ago -- thank you, PewDiePie, for your unintentionally excellent timing!) ;)

There's a substantial amount of costume DLC. Are those going to be spread out over time or available to download all at once?

Awesome!! I prefer to get my games on PC by a longshot...

Tell me, should I delay my purchase of Blood Drive as well? ;)

edit: I meant Book of Shadows...

PSP releases in 2014? And Brandish, of all things, getting localized? Stay based, XSEED -- I'll buy 8 copies
ok really more like 2, but still
. Now when is Falcom going to remake Brandish 2 through 4? :V It's also nice to know exactly who to send nastygrams to if any part of the released gets honked.

Booooooooooooo
although I can't blame you for doing that one bit

Still bringing a PSP game with a cult following, announced 2 Vita-only games with 1 having a retail version along with various localisations in 2014. Sure hope their efforts won't be in vain, especially for Vita owners, they supported you guys the most.

The titles being displayed at their E3 booth join the previously announced titles The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (Windows PC) and The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter (Windows PC, PSP) of XSEED Games’ upcoming lineup.

So Trails in the Sky Second Chapter will be at E3?!

read the OP about a centimeter below that

That's why I was asking, so the meaning of the PR is that while Trails in the Sky SC is part of their upcoming lineup it won't be at E3 :/ Thumbs down :(
I guess they didn't want to state it clearly and it came out really convoluted.

PSP is still being kept alive by XSEED.

I'm glad to see them keeping up with the Falcom releases. I'll definitely check out Brandish when it comes out. I'm sad to see that we aren't getting anything new on Trails, but hopefully the wait won't be that much longer.

I'd never really heard of Brandish before, but all the positivity in this thread makes me eager to see more of it.

The idea that Brandish of all things is actually coming out in 2014 is just outrageously bizarre, but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. (Also Aeana will disown me if I don't buy it.)

I've never heard a shit news from xseed are they gods living among us?

XSEED has a great track record as long as you never, ever want to play the second game in a series.
