After 3 consecutive weeks of new IP No1’s (Evolve/The Order/Dying Light) it’s a return to the Top for ‘GTA V’ (+49%).

It's an 8th week at No1 since launch and the first since week 4 this year. The latest GTA still needs another 2 weeks at the top to equal the record for GTA series No1’s (held by GTA: Vice City for PS2, 10 weeks at No1, launched in week 45/2002, achieved in the first 11 weeks on sale). Warner’s ‘Dying Light’ (-43%) only drops to No2, EA’s ‘FIFA 15’ is stable at No3 (+1%) and Microsoft climb 2 places to No4 with ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (-1%).

After all the new IP we now have the release of some remastered HD editions / complete collections, with Capcom’s ‘DMC: Definitive Edition’ debuting at No5 for PS4/Xbox One and 505 Games’ ‘Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition’ new at No10 for PS3/PS4/360/Xbox One. The new ‘Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition’ release is itself right behind the 2 week old ‘Zombie Army Trilogy’ (No9) which is a stand -alone expansion of the award-winning Sniper Elite series – both games developed by Rebellion in the UK.

all is good

I thought DmC would do better than that.

Still hoping for an Japan-developed DMC5. One day. Everyone must buy the DMC4 remaster at launch and outsell DmC. Please.

Well, we know that Itsuno isn't working on Dragon's Dogma Online. So he's got to be doing something.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is still around top 20 in charts after 4 weeks? That sounds pretty good, given how the other episodes went in UK charts, right?

Ouch at DMC. DMC 4 was the best selling game in the franchises history in the UK and beat expectations, so will be interesting to see how that does, but I doubt Capcom will market it so it'll probably be similar. Even if it is a better game, that'll only do so much.

GTA V current generation is ridiculous, 99.99% of the industry would be more than happy if their game sold 10 million but for R* this is on top of the 30 million sold on previous generation. The questions is will GTA V current gen pass 20 million? I don't see why not personally, game keeps chugging along and don't think R* will release another GTA soon. Look at that Order 1886 dropping, rightfully so.

Good grief at the position difference between PS4 DmC and X1.

Order collapsing. Is it no longer bundled?
I suspect the used market is starting to bite. It is still over £40 new, but it can be found for under £30 in almost new condition on eBay, Amazon and other places. There is literally no incentive to spend around £15 extra for a new version, especially since people know it is a short game with little to no replay value.

Fingers crossed.

It isn't that DmC is a bad game at all, it's really very decent. But it isn't Devil May Cry. Even at 60fps, it doesn't feel like DMC. And it has none of the atmosphere or those long-drawn fixed camera angles that made DMC so iconic with its roots in RE.

Huh, didn't know it could now be had for £30. Surprised that CEX haven't reacted in dropping the price. Still £48, but the trade in prices though.

Seems Pachter cursed The Order to fail with his 5 million prediction. Also surprised to see GTA V on Xbone above the PS4 version (I guess by now almost every PS4 user has bought the game already...).
edit: Glad that DL is selling good!

CEX are awesome when it comes to trade in prices, I don't know, don't particularly care how they make money but the trade in prices provided by them is pretty crazy. I sold Infamous: SS when I got it with the bundle to CEX for £45, it was brand new and sealed but they ripped it out of the box in front of me so that does not seem to make a difference to them either.

Going to CEX is surreal though, seeing the weird and wonderful shit they sell. Indian music blasting for some reason, selling used DS4 and XB1 controllers for £46 because fuck knows why. :D

A big drop for the The Order but still hanging in there. A lot of people expected to die far quicker than this. But it lasted longer than Sunset Overdrive in the charts.

How do you think so? I guess 3rd party games just sell better on PS4, as it happened last gen with 360. But I don't think we can conclude weekly hardware sales on individual games' chart positions.

Ha, CEX music is picked by the staff. Walking into my local one it's usually all metal.

No. Only that these two games have sold better on PS4. Until there is a consistent gap in software sales and number of titles in the top 40 it won't be possible to draw such a conclusion.

We don't know if PS4 sold better than XBO last week or vice-versa .
Same for every week.
The last data we have from one selling better than the other is from Black Friday and Ciber Monday.

CEX (at least in Spain) it's great for buying old-ass games IMO. I bought Yakuza 3 and Ridge Racer 7 (PS3 launch title) for like 13€ or so. Plus they have a one year warranty.

I haven't seen any place (outside ebay) where prices can go that low. Plus, as you've said, they have better trade in prices than other places (Toukiden in CEX was 13€ when I sold it, in GAME it was 8€) so it's not a bad place.

But yeah, hardware prices are a joke. A second hand PS4 + Controller costed like 420€ there the last time I checked. It's totally laughable.

If the XO outsold the PS4, we'd have been told. That's too unusual of an event not to be considered news worthy.

What's more, we know the PS4 is outselling the XO in the US consistently again, and there's no reason to think it'd be any different in the UK.

Once again from when? If you are referring to November didn't we already know PS4 sold more after that month anyway from the official statement that November/December combined PS4 was the best selling

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/ps4-was-the-uk-s-best-selling-console-in-2014/0143505

That probably continued into Jan/Feb and March too because there was little change in price and no new real system sellers on XB1. I'd say it's a safe bet, you probably don't need the fact that the PS4 versions of new games are tracking higher to tell you that.

Difference being that SO was out in the run up to holiday season. You need to sell far fewer copies to chart at this time of year.

The Order not dropping as fast or as far as I'd feared is nice to see. There's so much potential there that it'd be a damned shame for RAD not to get a chance to fix their mistakes.

The positioning is more likely a function of total install base (remains to PS4 advantage by reasonable margin I believe) and the fact that this gen XB1 seems to be more about exclusives than multi-platform games for most. Hence most multi-platform titles launch notably higher on PS4.

Pattern seems to be that for most multi-platform games (GTA, FIFA perennial franchises aside) you see an initial higher launch on PS4 then after a while the sales settle to be closer on a weekly basis where you're talking low volumes.

GTA, FIFA and the like have super broad appeal so after the launch they settle to fairly close steady sales on both PS4/XB1 with the odd swapping of position based on that individual week's bundles/deals.

I wouldn't try and surmise and change of hardware sales from this myself.

Glad DmC bombed, whole reboot was unneeded.

Gotta give respect for the fact they catered to fans this time but a DMC game this ain't, very much like how Destiny isn't Halo and Battlefield isn't COD. It shares the name because it was a business decision to abuse the franchise branding to sell a game that doesn't fit the themes and lore. In films something that is a reboot and remake like The Thing for example get rightfully bashed. This game is too much of a try hard with its brooding story telling and messages which amount to shit all. Again I respect they catered to fans this time but Capcom need to realise you don't throw away a good thing. DMC is silly and cheesy experience, embrace it. That's why it has a fanbase in the first place. Bring on DMC4 SE.

There's potential and then there is the truth. Every bad and mediocre game has potential but lets not put that word on a pedestal to justify throwing 10s of millions until they get it right again. Sony can't afford to make these kind of investments like they used to. RAD got their shot and they failed, wasting both Sony's and SSM time and resources. I hope for the best for them but just like failed attempts like Lair, Heavenly Sword, MAG, Primal, Ghosthunter I do not think The Order deserves a sequel because "potential".

It deserves a sequel because it was a good game.

I think The Order deserves a sequel because it was a good game.

I didn't realise there was ever an official bundle here in the UK, though I realise there was for other parts of Europe.

It wasn't official, but it was in every good value Game and Argos bundle.

EDIT: just checked, it's not bundled at all now. Could explain it.

Did not buy DMC, did not look definitive to me with no AF and frame rates deviating form 60 more than they should, but respect players need for the extra features / play modes.

RAD seem to have good graphics programmers and talent, but bad story writers and who ever is the project leader for ignoring gameplay and replay ability...also the metacritic was not kind.

Hope RAD get another chance but need someone at Sony to more carefully manage the project and infuse some talent in there who can deliver gameplay.

Graphics and story are good things to have, RADs seemed to be almost obsessive to the detriment of everything else.....
