I could care less that this game is a bit of a Zelda rip-off. It looks *fun* and that's all that matters to me. Sure would like to know who is going to bring it to the US and when, though...

In addition to the world map, From's latest update on the game revealed a fourth playable character. Joinng the Hero, Prince, and Scholar types comes the Ancient Hero. In the game's story, this is the hero of legend who, long ago, sealed away the devil demon Onikis. This was back when Dotnia Kingdom was still 2D.

And closing off today's update, some details on the game's magic system. As you progress in the game, you'll earn the ability to cast "Shader Magic." The examples shared by From today have rendering-themed names like Parallax Map, Reflection, Normal Map and Frozen Shader. You'll have to use these both to combat enemies and as a means of solving puzzles.

sweet .

this game look like the ultimate wet dream for Japanese RPG fans , but it will be shame when it end selling like crap just because it's a non-brand / no name game ( not Tales , DQ, FF ) and not on the DS , I really hope the Japanese gamers open their minds for this game .

I'd say that this is the game of the forever. Forever. I'll grab the first version that has english language in it.

This game looks so cool.

When the first screens came out I was intrigued, yet skeptical. But now, seeing the videos, I am all for what appears to be an adequate 2D Zelda clone with a fresh retro-chic art style.

I think "homage" or even "parody" is more accurate than "rip-off." The game's plot seems to be a critique of the transition from 2D to 3D Zeldas.

Is it going to be sold at retail or via download?
It's a retail game.

Stupid Q

Can you always save?
You can always save. However, there are restart points. If you save on the field, you'll start back at the previous inn. If you save in a dungeon, you'll start back at the dungeon's entrance.

Japanese developers please please please learn how to fucking make fucking save points in the fucking dungeons in your fucking RPG games.

Can you edit maps and stages?
You cannot edit anything except for the main character.

:/

Can you exchange data with others?
This is possible by exchanging the edit data in your save data management folder.

so I guess that mean we can exchange characters via gamesaves *hug PS3 sharing gamesave feature*

How big can the giant swords get?
Depending on the sword, the size extents change. Some can get so big that they fill the screen.

:lol

That would make dungeon crawling simply a save-point-rush thing. Rush to the save point and do wtv you want without fear since losses are minimal. (I'm betting this game also restores health after a wipe out.)

I see the game already has English in it. This is good news.
I don't think all the text is in english actually... if it is though, I'll order it ASAP.

BTW, they thought of everything in that damn game, I love the "old school Zelda" view !

remember this game is not Sony's :lol or SEGA game :(

all Fromsoftware games this gen got published in North America

Armored Core: For Answer + Enchanted Arms + Tenchu Wii all published in NA by Ubi , Tenchu Z and Ninja Blade ( published in NA by Microsoft ) , Armored Core 4 ( published in NA by SEGA )

also the two game developed by them like Chromehounds ( SEGA game published by SEGA in NA ) or Demon's Soul ( SCEJ game published by Atlus in NA ) , so overall so all their games ( their IP or just developed by them ) this gen went to NA.

For people in Japan

The wait for Silicon Studios and From Software's retro-themed RPG 3D Dot Game Heroes may not be as long as expected. While the game is still due out on November 5, players willing to make the trip out to Yokohama will get an early sampler on Saturday (10/10).

From will put the game on playable demo at the Yodobashi Camera near Yokohama Station. Visitors to the shop will be able to sample the game from 9:30 to 21:00. As From did not have a Tokyo Game Show booth this year, this will be the first time the game has been playable for the general public.

I'm liking this precedent

You seem to be missing the premise of this game.

Holy crap track 4 is the stuff of legends. Hype x1000 I so want this. Any chance we'll see an english version port NA/EU before the end of the year?

Highly unlikely since it's October and no one has announced that they've picked it up. I wouldn't expect a US release until the middle of next year at the earliest.

Thanks Snake... this makes me sad panda :(

But damn this looks and sounds so fresh. I must have this! From Software you have a new fan.

The official site updated with some new songs

http://www.3d-heroes.net/main/

Track 2 sounds like something straight out of Castlevania. And Track 3 sounds like an old RPG battle theme. They seem to be doing a fantastic job with the soundtrack.

damn, they're all good. Track 3 is my favorite :) I think it sounds more like megaman than old RPGs though.

I'm really trying so hard not to get too hyped by this in case it plays like utter shit. I mean, we don't really know whether the developer themselves are good or not.

But I can't help but feeling that I will be playing this game endlessly. I said it before months earlier in the thread that this was like Dragon Quest having a baby with Legend of Zelda and it's true.

The music on the site is so good. Track 2 does have a Castlevania vibe. Fuck it sounds awesome, I'm listening to it now for the first time. LOVE the 8-bit sampling.

Track 3 sounds more like Contra/Action game kinda music.
