There are few things.

2. Splatoon Switch is supposedly to be enhanced version of Splatoon, along with new weapons, clothes, maps, etc.
3. There is a rumor that we are going to get two characters
4. Smash for Switch have been in development for quite long time, like ever since Feb or March 2016.
5. Smash for Switch is rumored to be out in like 6 months or so.

Interesting. Some of that stuff sounds pretty impressive.

No new stages or modes (outside of online tweaks), but will rather have all the stuff from 3DS and Wii U combined plus DLC.

^ I doubt there would be DLC if there aren't a bunch of newcomers already included. Seems dirty.

It's hard to predict if port is going to get DLC characters or not. That's why it's going to make the prediction more harder for everyone included. There is a chance that we could get Smash 6, instead of "port job."

NOTE: I've reread the rules and changed my predictions a bit to include DLC.

I don't think we're getting all that much, but I have a blind optimism I can't shake. The choices that launch with the game aren't all that crazy, but predicting DLC is much harder. But hell, its a game, why not?

IN THE BASE GAME:

Returning:
All Smash Bros 4 characters + All DLC (58 characters)
59. Ice Climbers

Newcomers:
60. Inkling
61. Rayman (with some Rabbid based attacks)
62. Classic Donkey Kong (ie. the 8 bit one from the arcade)

DLC:

Returning:
63. Wolf

Newcomers:
64. Chorus Kids
65. Ashley
66. King K Rool
67. Shovel Knight

For the base game...
- Ice Climbers seem like a logical choice to come back.
- Inkling is possibly the most logical newcomer choice.
- A new third party, and one that links in with the rumoured Rabbids RPG, makes sense to me and all the trophies in SSBWiiU.
- There needs to be some absolute left field choice, even in additions such as this. I've tried to think as Sakurai-like as possible, and what I came up with is an old school DK. But really it could be anything.

Then, for DLC...
- Wolf is another logical return. Could see him being offered as free DLC for people that upgraded from the WiiU/3DS versions.
- I don't buy that the Chorus Kids on that roster were just completely made up, I reckon they were planned and cut, so I reckon they come back.
- Ashley and K Rool are very popular and I can see the development team (which I imagine will be working with Sakurai at a reduced role so that he can move on) wanting to guarantee big sales. Ashley mostly to appeal to Japan and Rool to the West
- Shovel Knight a bit left field but again very popular and seemingly having a good relationship with Nintendo. Not drastically different to Bayonetta's appearance, actually.


Tiebreaker: Other than stages from Wii U and 3DS, New Stages include Inkopolis, a retro-styled Ice Climbers stage, and the Battle Tree from Pokemon SM. Some of these might be DLC.

The smart bet is all DLC plus inkling and ice climbers.

But since I could never be accused of being smart, I'll say: all of the above, plus dixie kong, chorus kids, Elma and Rayman.

An addition of new costumes (not just colours) for several characters (eg mario maker costume for mario). A few new items. Most 3DS levels that aren't too similar to WiiU ones, plus Xenoblade and Splatoon levels. Even more music.

All characters will have custom moves, including the WiiU DLC ones that missed out.

DLC characters will be new Fire Emblem mobile player character, Chun Li, Tifa, and Pichu.

No Wolf, Snake, K Rool or Advance Wars.

The tournament scene would probably be happy with that, as their Wii U set-ups wouldn't be rendered useless. But given that Nintendo probably wants us all to move to the Switch version, I don't think the Wii U & 3DS versions will get any of the Switch additions. That's just me, though.

My prediction/expectations:

Characters -
Ice Climbers
Wolf
Inkling

Major character change (very unlikely but something I would like to see) -
Charizard changed back to Pokemon trainer and now has Squirtle and Ivysaur transformations like in Brawl. Samus/ZSS and Zelda/Shiek remain separate characters.


Stages -
Splatoon Stage
Zelda BotW stage
3DS stages with upgraded textures

Maybe 1 or 2 Melee stages that didn't appear in either Wii U or 3DS as well.


Separate predictions: Instead of more Mii costumes they're going to sell different skins for some of the characters as DLC. For example for Link we may see OoT Link or instead of Toon Link a Young Link skin.

Ice Climbers (Easy veteran to bring back.)
Inkling (Most obvious newcomer.)
Isabelle (Animal Crossing is huge and deserves more than one rep, plus Isabelle is the mascot of the franchise.)
Elma (Basing this on the Xenoblade X port rumor.)

All this plus what's already in the Wii U/3DS versions + DLC. 58 + 4 = 62

Both. I need to figure out how to get people to notice that since I mentioned it in OP. Alright, I had to emphasize it even more in OP so hopefully people would notice that.

It's up to you to predict the full roster for Smash Bros for Switch and Super Smash Bros for Switch DLC. Keep it in your mind, getting DLC for SSB for Switch isn't guaranteed so it's likely that we wouldn't get any.

Ice Climbers is a lock. Wolf seems like an easy character to add, and if they're expecting people to buy essentially the same version of Smash for potentially the third time (if they already bought the Wii U and 3DS versions), I think having more than two new characters is necessary. They'd be stupid not to include Inkling as a form of cross-promotion, and with Stars coming in November I think Decidueye is a good bet as well.
