They kinda need to get Steele to testify at a hearing now

Only way that guy is ever seen again if his body if found under suspicious and mysterious circumstances.

Dude right now is probably growing a beard and looking for jobs in the middle of the woods and making a list of potential new identities.

Nothing actionable is going to come out of this for a while. The best they can do is give it enough internal momentum to avoid being blockaded by the incoming administration.

We shall see. I think it's too risky letting Trump in the Whitehouse. If they can scupper it before the 20th they'll do it. That will be the IC probably not the committee investigation which I agree might take a while.

He doesn't owe us anything. We don't need him to play Batman and sacrifice himself for us after all he's already done. He's not the hero we deserve :(

This is such damaging stuff that I expect Trump to start purges on several levels of government even if they have to turn violent.
Why do you think they were asking for the names of employees?

The Washington Post reports: House Republicans revive obscure rule that allows them to slash the pay of individual federal workers to $1
House Republicans this week reinstated an arcane procedural rule that enables lawmakers to reach deep into the budget and slash the pay of an individual federal worker - down to a $1 - a move that threatens to upend the 130-year-old civil service.

The Holman rule, named after a Indiana congressman who devised it in 1876, empowers any member of Congress to offer an amendment to an appropriations bill that targets a specific government employee or program.

A majority of the House and the Senate would still have to approve any such amendment but opponents and supporters agree it puts agencies and the public on notice that their work is now vulnerable to the whims of elected officials.

...

Before this rule change, an agency's budget could be cut broadly, but a specific program, employee or groups of employees could not be targeted because of civil service protections.

Republicans and Trump advisers have been quietly drawing up plans since the election to erode some of the job protections and benefits that federal workers have received for a generation, starting with a hiring freeze Trump has pledged to put in place in his first 100 days in office.

Ok, I'm seeing a ton of meta talk about developing conspiracy theories. Are there any articles, red line MS Paints, or tweet chains that can summarize the web?

Is this likely to be a real thing, an amusing set of coincidences, or the emergent result of several symbiotic interests?

I got you dood

Trump, the alt right, Republican propaganda machines, its all stupid and rightly made fun of , but do you guys not see the problem with treating an explosive thing like this as potentially true until debunked? If this was a story about Hillary taking money from Saudi Arabia or something scandalous of the sort we would likely question the integrity of the intelligence community before accepting it as likely true. In fact, people have been decrying the FBI as trump centric and Comey of being pro-trump ever since the email resurgence, but have no problem citing them as a source for this story to be true when in reality all we know is that trump was presented with this info, and that some unknown parts were considered worth investigating, who knows which. I just can't help but be nervous about the blowback if this ends up being totally false, furthering the narrative that "the media" is biased, dishonest, partisan, and trying to delegitimize the presidency. And making the left look easily manipulated by propaganda that confirms their political bias.

The other thing is idk if I was any this to be true. I don't want a president pence...Similarly I don't want Comey gone, because then we'll get trumps pick for FBI director. This is all too iffy for me.
I feel similarly, to be honest. Now obviously I don't believe for a second Trump is innocent and as someone else said, there's too much smoke to ignore (of course the anti-Clinton dumbasses would have said the same thing about her).

I'm not worried about Trump ending up clean. There's no way he is. I'm more worried about him getting away with it and going "see? it was all a witch hunt!" because no concrete proof, no smoking gun, was ever found.

(partial) summary write up of the money trail for now:
Seems this is at the core of what is going on.

Ex Mi-6 agent Chris Steele's 35 page long opposition research dossier on Trump is dated October 18th and has this bombshell in it:
Russian State Oil Company CEO Sechin (who is part of Putin's inner circle) offered Trump/Page associates 19% stake in Rosneft if personal and state sanctions were lifted.
SOURCE: https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3259984/Trump-Intelligence-Allegations.pdf
On November 7th, Russia signed the deal to sell 19.5% of its stake in Rosneft - which amounts to $11 billion - to Glencore Plc and Qatar sovereign wealth fund.
Commodity trader Glencore Plc and Qatar's sovereign wealth fund agreed to buy a 10.2-billion euro ($11 billion) stake in Russia's largest oil producer from the state in a triumph for President Vladimir Putin over sanctions imposed by the West.
SOURCE:https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...und-buy-russia-s-rosneft-stake-for-11-billion

What a coincidence on December 26th: A top executive of Rosneft Oleg Erovinkin, also a former FSB agent, was found dead, with no official cause of death.
SOURCE:http://www.dailysabah.com/europe/20...b-agent-rosneft-official-found-dead-in-moscow

Starting in September, it was reported that Carter Page would be 'advising Trump on energy policy and Russia', and has been probed by the US regarding ties to Russian leaders. Page also has ties with executives at Gazprom through his assistance in advising 'some of its biggest deals in the past decade'. Gazprom is the investment bank that funded the 19.5% purchase of the Rosneft stake by Glencore.

That is it ladies & gentlemen, forget the revenge golden showers & prostitutes. All peanuts compared to this.
What will be left of those 11 billion dollars after all partners got their fair share will make Trump look good on infrastructure investments. So it seems Russia is in it for the long run of at least 8 years of Trump.
Seems all pretty simple really.

The memo was dated October 18th, and on November 7th Russia signed the deal to sell 19.5% of its stake in Rosneft. Top executive of Rosneft Oleg Erovinkin was found dead in late december, with no official cause of death. Starting in September, it was reported that Carter Page would be 'advising Trump on energy policy and Russia', and has been probed by the US regarding ties to Russian leaders. Page also has ties with executives at Gazprom through his assistance in advising 'some of its biggest deals in the past decade'. Wow. Great job. Hopefully something comes of this.

Nice summary guy.brush

While my conspiracy meter starts going off with that death of the former FSB agent. I'm not about to shrug it off since the recent MI6 agent went into hiding in fear for his life. He must know that these cats dont play around. But thats what this whole thing is. Its one big ass conspiracy.

Pivoting back a little bit to an old argument, I don't get the point of trying to hold down the degree of condemnation or moderate the tone. There's no point in trying to play nice, because they'll never accept anything less than slavish agreement without responding the exact same way. Fake, not fake, extreme, minor, all criticism is going to be responded to in exactly the same way- "fake, loser, witch hunt" etc. Like, give them an inch on this, and they'll take a mile. Hell, they already did; this was sat on prior to the election because nobody could verify it, and they took the presidency.

So, maybe it's fake. Hang it on 'em anyway. Literally nowhere to go but up right now.

Yeah this is my take on it. There is a HELL of a lot of smoke, but (as far as we know), no one has found the fire. I don't doubt at all that at least some of this has some truth to it, but I am reserving my excitement to see what turns up.

btw, detective GAF has been simply brilliant in all of this.

Seems Russia learned how to do capitalism pretty well in about 25 years. What an absolute mess.

If this all gets connected with proof, then Trump and all people involved should be tried for treason to the United States.

That's pretty interesting but I will say the "ties" between Page and Glencore in that source is pretty slim. It's a one off meeting while representing his company Global Energy Capital that happened after the Qatar/Glencore deal.

I've never heard of One America News before lmao.

Just watched a couple of minutes of their featured video. The host asks Lewandowski something like "How can the people tell the difference between unverified news and real news"? His answer? "Check out Trump's tweets for the truth".

Trump > OAN > Trump

I'm sorry I'm very late but LOL I've never heard of them either. Did Trump just create them out of thin air??

If you read this:
He worked as an investment banker in Russia for at least three years in the 2000s, advising on several major transactions involving Russian state companies. Mr. Page's extensive business links in Russia prompted suggestions that he might be serving Mr. Trump as a back-channel liaison with senior Kremlin officials.
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/08/world/europe/carter-page-donald-trump-moscow-russia.html

What is interesting as well:
Mr. Page dismissed the accusations, calling the F.B.I. investigation a ”witch hunt."
And this was on Dec 8th. So Trump, the Kremlin and him used the same wording. He did it 3 weeks before. They all seem to have the same playbook.

All these connections make me think Trump isn't doing shit because Russia owns him. I feel like he's legitimately just tied up with all of those people in such a way that he probably views everything in that lens and that's who his web of 'friends' are. Russia probably does have something on him, but I personally doubt they actually need to use it or even hold it over on him at all. He views the deal as good for him.

Trump only cares about money, he doesn't give a damn about America, Russia etc. I imagine since all his other deals went south, nobody wanted to deal with him anymore which lead him to Russia and China who you probably shouldn't cross and he is stuck. Chickens come home to roost. His only choice is to follow through and hope the IC don't nail him.

Guy spends his entire career making money off the back of people under him, even goes bankrupt and ruins the lives of hundreds if not thousands while somehow still managing to come away unharmed. Looks for every tax loophole imaginable so he does't have to give money to help others.

This is the man of the people. I'll quote Obama: "Come on man".

He's not Black or a woman though, I'll grant you that.

On November 7th, Russia signed the deal to sell 19.5% of its stake in Rosneft - which amounts to $11 billion - to Glencore Plc and Qatar sovereign wealth fund.

This reads more like people in Trump's circle taking advantage of his election win than anything else. Paul Manafort, his former campaign manager, resigned shortly after his financial history with Russian-Ukrainian officials came to light. It wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't the only one.

For instance, why would Trump want to use the Qatari's to funnel $10billion into an infrastructure project when he has the US Treasury now? Or is it someone on his team that will profit of this instead?
