I think I'm going to join this thread. I'm not going to count games I've obtained through PS+ or Humble Bundles that I never plan on playing. I've also abandoned 10+ games so far this year that I had purchased prior to 2017 but never got around to trying. I'm not going to list them here either. I've made a concerted effort to clear out a lot of my backlog by completing a series of short games. I'm also in the middle of some much longer games. I'm trying to make some decent progress because Persona 5 is coming out soon, and I also want to play Yakuza 0.

This is my February Report. Sorry for being so late on this one, but well, I started a game that lasted me 50 hours of pure goodness.

I think it was a fairy good month for me. SOme of these games have started to last more than 4 hours, so its hard to knock them out after work. However, i'm onn a good track.

As of now, I finished playing Fallout: New Vegas, clocked in at 49 hours. It was a blast and that what i spent most of February and the half of march doing. Now i'm going to start Skyrim and hopefully get it completed by next month.

I know I'm not going to beat anything else this month, as I really don't even want to play much until Persona 5 comes out. But, instead of making my April post early, I'm just going to show off my graphs for a nice quarterly report:

The first quarter of the year has given me a very steady uptick! I'm now at +12 for the year, with both January and March being tied at my best months at +5. I did beat more games in January, but I also bought more games... and the fact that I beat six games in March when I bought Breath of the Wild is an impressive feat, in my opinion. I was quite obsessed with it.

I also have three gaming goals this year, here is the progress on them:
Catch up on Zelda titles: 2/5
Catch up on Metar Gear titles: 2/6
Beat 20 RPGs: 4/20

I'm doing good on the Zelda and Metal Gear fronts (but I have The Phantom Pain to get through....), but I am slightly behind on the RPGs. I had planned on having one or two more beat, but March was the month of the disappointing RPG in addition to the month of BOTW, so I ended up dropping a few RPGs instead of beating them. I still have plenty of time to catch up, and still a decent sized list of RPGs that I've started and haven't finished.

But I'm proud of my backlog blitzing thus far. Quarter 2 is bound to be harder with Persona 5 in April and my birthday/Steam Summer Sale using jacking up my new games. Hopefully I'll do better than last year. :p

It's basically the end of the month so it's update time. One thing I guess I should note is I've started counting DLC towards my totals because I realised I bought a bunch of DLC last year and never got around to playing them, so I'd like to fix that mistake.

I guess I had a decent month, even though it turned out to be a net -1. Horizon and Nier were both amazing games, albeit long, so I was expecting this month to be much worse. But I got them done in pretty decent time and also managed to beat a few other short games too. I bought and played Batman because it was cheap and I needed short games to tide me over until Persona 5 came out (a spot Book of Unwritten Tales 2 has now taken). And Alone With You made for a decent commute game (a spot Code: Realize has now taken).

Next month's going to be a killer. I'm expecting most of the month to be dedicated to Persona 5, while indies like Cosmic Star Heroine (via Kickstarter), Full Throttle Remastered, The Silver Case, What Remains of Edith Finch, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Little Nightmares pile onto my backlog. I guess I'll just wait for the last three or four of those games to go on sale because I won't have time to play them all anyway.

Main OP

Bought a ton of games. Bought planned games and bought unplanned games. Oops.

Got Horizon on the first of the month. Unfinished so far, but love what I've played so far.

Got Switch and Zelda, as expected. Finished Zelda. Loved it. Thought it was my GOTY. Also got I Am Setsuna, unexpected. Unfinished, but really like what I've played so far.

Got Oxenfree, unexpected. Not touched yet, but it was dirt cheap on the EU PS Store.

Got Nier Automata, as planned. And it managed the impossible: it toppled Zelda as GOTY and may become one of my top ten favourite games ever. Brilliant.

And then got Mass Effect: Andromeda, as planned, but not double-dip as planned. Reviews put me off getting both console versions so just got one copy. But after ten hours with it, I didn't get on with it. I'll see if it changes after I wrap up Persona 5.

As for this month? Only one day one purchase planned: Persona 5. In fact, only one purchase planned for the entirety of April - Persona 5. Edging towards the end of Hitman, though, so once I get that, Persona 5 and hopefully Halo Wars 2 as well, I'll be back in the positive again.

At least thankfully, it'll be positive by the end of the month again. Hopefully.

It's strange to look at a year in quarters like I do with these quarterly summaries before I start over on a new list. It feels like the year just started but since I'm writing this it means we're already a fourth of the way through it! It makes the year feel so much shorter. Yikes!

At least I managed to fix my numbers a bit. I think +8 is respectable when I've made 12 purchases and have to constantly battle with myself the way I do.

My goal for the next quarter is to make a dent in the Mass Effect trilogy (which will require 12 playthroughs of each game to complete by my rules) and also to play more retro games. Perhaps to finish NES and GameBoy/Color or something.

Had a lot going on in March so unfortunately didn't beat as many games as I wanted, ending the month with a 0. I beat Andromeda today, but decided to pick up Nier: Automata along with my Persona 5 preorder. >_>

Going to try and sit down and focus Berseria to finally get it beat within the next week.

Had Nier Automata ordered at a big discount ($24.46 USD including tax), no way was I not buying it.

Literally all my free time was being spent on the Best of Easy Allies videos I was creating all month. Only in the last few days (where I finally took a break) did I start playing a game. Finally continued my playthrough of Final Fantasy XV that I had left hanging at the beginning of December after about 24 hours of gameplay time (and still in Chapter 3). Have gone through a few chapters since I started playing, but haven't finished it yet.

Hopefully with a less hectic schedule now due to there not being an insane launch schedule for my videos, I'll be able to beat multiple games in each coming month.

February/March Update:

Forgot to update last month, but I've been playing a lot. Took care of a few games that had been in my backlog for quite some time, binged 2D Metroid in the leadup to BotW, and then it's been all Zelda since. I've seen most of what there is to see at this point, though, and I might start something new this week. I'm feeling that weird, strange Souls itch again so DS2 might be next up. I'm still picking away at Zelda but I'm considering it "done".

I picked up the PS4 trio of Horizon,Yakuza and Nier but I'm not feeling the urge to jump right into one of them just yet after a month of non-stop Zelda. Horizon, especially, I am waiting for my eventual 4KTV purchase.

My progress at beating games is pretty slow this year, but should pick up again starting next month when we're hopefully settled in and have installed all of my consoles again after our move. What makes me happy so far though is that I keep on avoiding to buy new stuff. I've still only bought one game this year, and I managed to beat it last month, so right now I haven't added anything to my backlog - which feels great!

It also seems like I no longer have a desire to platinum anything I play. This drastically shortens the time I spend on one game of course, but we'll see if this changes if I run into something I think warrants it. Next up, the last few events in Driveclub and then... God of War III Remastered?

Knack was very mixed game - it had some very dull sections (mainly the ones where you are small Knack) and some supper funny ones when you were giant Knack.
The Reject Demon:Toko - that was painfull lesson that buying stuff just because it is visual novel is bad habbit as I don't remember any worse writing.
FEH - it was really nice for mobile game but I kinda got all the content done and rest started to feel tedious.
Long Live the Queen - in the end I cheated by using guide ;) I love the idea of those games but i've no time anymore to play them properly.

April 2017 (04/29/17): Strangely, I still feel weatherworn from the amount of time invested into beating Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0 and Nier: Automata which collectively drained about sixty-hours each round. I normally reserve those commitments toward a handful of role-playing games to avoid burnout, but I suppose it's a compliment for the aforementioned titles as I didn't expect those lengthy investments. I feel comfortable commenting on the latter title possibly maintaining the coveted 'Game of the Year' mark in my eyes and I'm leaning heavy on short experiences at the moment to make ground on all the newer, meatier releases creeping into my collection.

Main OP

As you can probably guess, this month, I did not stick to my planned purchases for the month. While I did say upfront Persona 5 was a day one, I forgot to mention in my last post that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a day one buy for me as well - those two were my only planned purchases on paper at least. And while they bookended the month as the first and last purchase respectively, inbetween, it was a bloodbath. At least I got one game done. It didnt't look like it at one point.

Thankfully, I'm not planning on anymore pickups until July, though I still have an outstanding pre-order for the Wipeout Omega Collection that I really should cancel (but £30 and a free steelbook D:), so before the next purchases in July with Final Fantasy XII and Splatoon 2, I should hopefully be able to get a lot of stuff done either side of E3.

But knowing me, the operative word is 'hopefully'.

This may have also been a contribution to why I didn't finish as many games this month. I put 50 hours into Zelda and then 30 hours into Nier last month finishing both and then investing a further 25 or so hours into the start of Persona 5 at the top of the month, which may have drained a considerable amount of energy. Having the TV super far away from me at one point may have motivated me a bit less as well.

Thankfully, I have fixed that last part now and can game again with a bit more ease and comfort. That said, what I might do at least at first is get a few shorter games and games I'm close to completion done out of the way before leaping into the long-haul games again like Persona 5 and any other stuff I have planned as part of my backlog.

Great start to the second quarter. I more than doubled my total score by finishing ten games and not buying a single one!

Uncharted 3 Remastered

After I finished Horizon I couldn't decide if I wanted to start Yakuza 0 or Persona 5. Instead, I decided to finish an abandoned playthrough of Uncharted 3. Then after I finished Uncharted 3 I plowed though Drake's Fortune in a couple of days. I played through Uncharted 2 Remastered right before Uncharted 4 came out, so I think I'm done with the Uncharted series until the DLC for 4 comes out.

Mad Max - I played about 30 minutes. The controls were not so great and after playing other more recent open world games this one did nothing for me.
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 - Decided I'd never prioritize this one over other games on my backlog, so I removed it.
