Seeing the recent US PSP price drop, is there a PSP pricedrop in Japan as well (and Europe too for that matter)?

Nope, both stated sales are good enough and a price drop isn't needed.

Consoles don't exist outside the normal realm of supply and demand. The reason there was a price drop in the USA was because demand was terminally low. Demand is not terminally low in Japan a price cut won't be so forthcoming.

I haven't been following the game, but is there any reason people think Dissidia will do so low opening week? The first nearly cracked a million, and Final Fantasy games generally have become more front-loaded with new iterations.

If Azlyn's estimates are accurate, that would be pretty solid for SSFIV and Samurai Warriors, I think. Surprisingly low for Nintendogs, but it's a title that should have legs.

A good result for Capcom, Level 5 and Tecmo Koei?

If SSFIV3D debuted at that, it would be pretty exceptional.
That's very close to the PS3 debut, and it would likely have much better legs to boot.

I believe so, too.

I may be making stuff up here, but I think the hardcore were the ones who bought the 3DS at launch. When causal DS adopters start transitioning, nintendogs + cats will probably be the game everyone will buy.

This wouldn't seem to bode well for the launch lineup's initial performance (I emphasize that I'm not talking longer-term) in the US, given that there's no equivalent to Layton and that Nintendogs is clearly being positioned as the killer app.

I wouldn't expect Nintendog's core audience to be the type to go out their way to buy day 1, buying on expectation of future releases that would interest them.

However, we do get 2 more Nintendo titles (one based on an existing IP), and titles such as SSFIV3D are likely to be much bigger here as well.

It's tracking much lower on Comgnet.

Those would be great SSF 4 Sales i true .......

Agreed. Those would be fantastic sales.

The launch Musou title on PSP (albeit terrible) also did ~57k and went on to 300k so it'd be pretty good as well for Sengoku Musou Chronicles to have such a start.

But SSFIV 3D would take the cake, I wonder how much double or triple dip is there for SFIV, SSFIV and SSFIV 3D.

I expected more, too, but with hindsight, this could be another Minna no Golf 5 situation. Casual title on a platform possibly priced higher than the mainstream audience is willing to pay resulting in lower sales.

Ecit:
Or it could be that the mainstream audience wouldn't be ones to get a preorder and those were all that were sold. :lol

Just the possibility that Capcom even shipped at least 70.000 copies (plus whatever stock is left) of SFIV is somewhat hard to believe. :lol

Just to throw in the note that he seems a whole like less sure of these numbers then he usually does(he's even stated in the past that reading the distrbution of 3ds is difficult) so if his numbers turn out to be horribly off here, don't hold it against him, he gave notice!

That is true, but isnt sometimes pricedrops done worldwide regardless of how good the products are selling? But maybe that isnt the case now with the PSP.

Considering they still aren't compleatly fulfilling demand for PSP, I think a pricepoint at this point in Japan would be equal to just throwing money away?

Although it's just amazon I find this trend interesting: all 3ds games started out with a premium of only being 15% off(normally amazon is 18%) now most of the 3ds launchs games(besides some of the Nintendogs and winning eleven) are at the 18% off amount.

Also we have the first signs of a 3ds price collapase: Super Monkey ball is at 20% off, when every single other non-released game(Include Monkey ball up to yesterday) is at %15 off.

So, looking very unlikely that SSFIV 3D did 70k, but good to see all the key third party titles in there. Now for the figures... :)

I dunno, if Nintendogs did say, 60k, then Disgaea 4 could have done anything from 61k to 117k. That's quite a margin.

At least it looks like it's starting better than D3 did, even if it ends up only being marginal. I have high hopes.
