A bit off topic. And maybe a stupid thing to complain about. But these charts always coming in ALL CAPS makes them unreadable to my eyes for some reason.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ re-enters the Top 10, up from No36 to No8, boosted also by renewed sales of Wii hardware (up by 85% on last week).

I actually read that as Zelda's sales being up 85% on the week prior. Why? Because Chart Track barely ever gives out information about hardware, only software percentage changes.

Anyway, WarioWare GBA didn't make the Top 10 GBA chart, WarioWare GC managed something like No.18 on the All Price All Format Top 40, WarioWare: Touched cracked the All Price All Format Top 10 and now WW Wii has slammed in at No.2! A nice increasing trend there...

...and with such furore surrounding the series right now, perhaps Twisted will be slotted in alongside the releases of Final Fantasy V and VI Advance in a few months. Heck, maybe we'll finally see Drill Dozer make a reappearance.

I heard they can't release Twisted here because the rumble pack didn't stand up to EU Health & Safety standards. :-/

Did Drill Dozer get released there? Or is that a totally different type of rumble pack?

did anyone post this?

UK consumers bought 200,000 Nintendo Wiis over Xmas

By Tony Smith [More by this author]

16th January 2007 16:40 GMT

Nintendo sold almost 200,000 Wiis in the UK and more than 500,000 of the next-gen console across the rest of Europe during December 2006, the company has claimed. However, it also admitted it's still having a job shipping out enough of them.

Nintendo launched Wii on 8 December but almost immediately some retailers questioned whether all would-be buyers were going to get their hands on the machine by Christmas.

DSG, owner of PC World, Currys and dixons.co.uk said at the time: "We're expecting four deliveries between now and Christmas and we expect them all to go to pre-orders. If customers haven't already pre-ordered then they've probably missed the boat."

Yesterday, Nintendo Europe marketing director Laurent Fischer admitted the company is still "facing stock shortages", blaming the "high demand" for the console. He said Nintendo was "attempting to deliver both consoles and games to retailers on a daily basis".

Nintendo's sales figures come from UK market monitor Chart Track. The numbers also show that UK consumers bought more than 500,000 Nintendo DS handheld consoles, enough to position it as the UK's top-selling games machine not only during December 2006 but throughout the year, Nintendo said. ®

500k in December alone? @_@

Which is why the were re-making it specifically for the European market...part of the reason why I thought it would eventually make it over here. Why start manufacturing a new set of carts to just not bother releasing it after all that?

And to Brak, no Drill Dozer was quietly cancelled late last year as well (along with Metroid Prime Pinball on DS).

Yoshi's Universal Gravitation came out though, didn't it have a similar feature?

Why did they cancel Metroid Prime Pinball?

It was pushed and pushed, originally to August, then 'Autumn 2006' and then finally just slipped from schedule's completely. Why, I don't know. I thought the strong sales of Hunters would have been ideal to act as a booster for MPP. And heck, it's by UK team Fuse...bet they're wondering why it didn't come to Europe as well!

2) GC version back in stock

No, it's totally due to the increase in Wii stock leading to an increase in Wii Zelda sales.

Zelda: TP (Wii: 99%, GCN: 1%)

Some other notables.

Gears of War (Reg: 95%, LE: 5%)
GTA: LCS (PS2: 67%, PSP: 33%)

No hard numbers of units, though. :(

I really wish the code tags worked properly again. :(

"Rank Last Week", "Rank This Week", Title

The breakdown by system is self-explanatory, but note that if there's more than four systems, only the top four will be shown.

The number under the title in ()s is the # of weeks on the charts.

Thanks, Fuzzy. :)

WOW at Nintendo in France. They turned around the market there, just like in Japan.

Great chart there, Fuzzy. Very interesting. WOW @ this:

36 8 THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS
(5) 39.99 WII (99)
34.99 GC (1)

Wii stock were back in?

I've got a friend who had three preorders before Christmas and hasn't been contacted on ANY of them yet. 18 days into the month.

German charts, Wii still not included:
Why the **** is the Wii not included in our charts?

Or do you mean to say that the Wii games simply didn't sell that much? I don't think that's possible considering the buzz it enjoyed here.

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
Nintendo could be enjoying Christmas-sales-levels for at least two more months with all the shortages they faced. The demand for the DS/Wii seems to be as big as one month ago.

Interesting. No wonder EA's making an exclusive Sims for Wii and bringing Theme Park to DS. :)

:lol at GameCube Zelda's 1%

Hope we get these stats each week!

I actually believe that percentage is higher now, since that week there was barely any GC stock around the country.

And if we DO get those percentages, then we'll be lucky as Chart Track's Director has been chasing people with legal action for spreading data such as that and the random hardware numbers that have been floating around lately...

But, but dumbo mumbo jimbo said X360 sales are amazing in European countries.
Gears of War only charted ONE week in France and then disappeared, only debuted at #8 in the Spanish monthly charts and then disappeared again. There were no 360 games in the German charts, so what did those millions and millions of 360 owners in Europe buy for their consoles?

Anyway, its great to see how amazing DS performed in Spain, one of the strongest markets for Sony traditionaly. It had 5 games in the top 10. :)

Wow, are you in middle school? Could you please quote me where I said Xbox 360 sales were amazing in Europe?

I would really like to know if I am taking drugs and just don't remember because lately I'm saying a lot of things according to GAF'ers that I don't remember.

Although I have to admitt, it would be pretty ****ing hard for me to make that statement when I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE SALES ARE IN EUROPE. And nobody else does either.

Nintendo fails in NZ once again. :/

Supposely a couple of numbers from GfK on NZ:

Christmas sales figures for 30 October to Dec 31 2006:

PS2 | 21,813 units sold | 70.9% of console market
PSP | 9,560 units sold | 73% of handheld market

EDIT: Oh, I see it has already been posted in the Media-Create chart.

There certainly are people that have a pretty good clue of the sales in Europe. Charttrack covers UK and Ireland and GFK basically all the other important markets.

Edit: Well, atleast it's now pretty save to assume that there actually is a market in the world where PSP leads :D

I just don't see that happening anywhere. Whatever the demand, people just do not buy like they do during Christmas. The holiday season justifies such an expensive purchase that most people simply wouldn't do at any other time of the year. I believe that's what happened to the 360 last year (talking America in that case), and I think it's what will happen to the Wii and PS3.
