4 millions DS sold in France !!!

Nintendo France has just announced to have sold 4 million consoles Nintendo DS in France from its exit on March 11, 2005, that is to say a new record for this console, no other had never reached this course in if little time. During last three months, they are 1 million consoles which found taking! Nintendo had announced on last 3 September to have passed the course of the 3 million. "By proposing an intuitive experiment of play, and a catalogue of original titles, Nintendo DS became the console of all the public ones. It attracts users of all ages, as many women as men, beginners like experienced players. The interest growing for Nintendo DS on behalf of a public of women and men of more than 40 years in particular, people who did not smell themselves or not very concerned by this leisure until there or who did not dare to release a little time to devote itself to it, partly explains the formidable dynamism of the sector of the video game ". "plays of the Touch range! Generations such as the Programme of Advanced Cerebral Drive of Dr. Kawashima, Practice English, Cerebral Academy or Gym of the Eyes - To exert and release your Eyes make it possible to attract new users beyond the public of traditional players ", declared Stephan Bole, General manager of Nintendo France. Since the beginning of the year in France, the market of the video game for consoles posts a strong progression (+64% in value in office plurality on date at at the end of October 2007), in particular under the impulse of Nintendo and the two consoles Wii and Nintendo DS. Indeed, the sales turnover of the Nintendo consoles, the software and the accessories for consoles Nintendo (all third editors and manufacturers of accessories included) in France weighs about half of the sales of the sector and posts a very strong progression of +149 % in office plurality at at the end of October 2007 (source: Panel GFK Interactive Leisures, January-October 2007.)

Thank fucking God.

How the hell did I miss this? :lol

About freaking time. Maybe the official Uncharted thread won't get as bloated anymore with his his 600+ one line posts.

Does the UK 60GB PS3 still get packed with motorstorm? I know the UK list includes pack in games, and motorstorm was not in the top 40.

Yep, Finland is still PC & PS2 land but I think next year belongs to PS3. And Sims is huge apparently it's almost every time in top10. And CS oh boy we do love CS.
I won't dispute the CS-land/PC-land title for Finland, but come on - PS3 has been a non-event here. The two main architects of PS2 success have left the local PlayStation company, the main tech magazines did their tests this winter and ranked 360>Wii>PS3. The 360 has been out of stock in the capital, older ladies at work are talking about Wii...

I think Finns are penny-pinchers who'll have a hard time appreciating the value that PS3 brings. The first Xbox did already pretty well and for a traditional PC country transitioning to Xbox 360 gaming is not such an improbable step.

Going by Wii and DS numbers France seems to be almost as big as UK for those two systems. 4 million is massive after just over 2 years.

I don't think there are any more bundles left - the 60G is discontinued in PAL afaik.

Keep buying the AAA games, PS3 owners! Don't buy the A or AA games. Make the devs give the system the support it needs. I want to hear how Ratchet & Clank .. and.. Uncharted sold 4+ million copies in it's lifetime and how their sequels are well on their way!

Its not like its new. France has always been the #2 market in EU, very very close to the UK one

Yeah the 60 gig is pretty rare in the uk now and doesnt come with motorstorm anymore i dont think. We are stuck with the 40 gig only woooooo.

There's a fair chance RE:UC won't catch RE4Wii, but will probably make it's 600k worldwide figure. Capcom, you know what to do.

We'll see a BC SKU sometime next year - not even Sony could leave us with just the 40G for all eternity (I hope).

Anectodal evidence ahoi!!!!
I was in the FNAC (big cd/book/dvd/game... store) just a few minutes ago for nothing gaming related, but I walked passed the game section, and holy hell, it was like there was a riot by the Wii shelves. I'm not saying "OMG Nintendo winz", but I've never seen so much attention for anything Nintendo related in my country and I'm pretty sure the Wii will get a shelf upgrade pretty soon.

Oh, and no Mario Galaxy to be found (in any store I went for that matter). Wii's are avaiable everywhere though.

That is all...

Hey, the Aussie chart has one hugely redeeming value that none of the others can boast about - Drawn To Life charting in 3rd place and rising too. :D

Wii ads in Australia pay off heaps. If RRR2 aired a little more then 2 times a day it could be a real hit..

I felt like buying the game after the airport ad..that was hilarious.

Good to saw Drawn to Life selling(even if it is bundled :p). This leaves an opening for a sequel...with a much shorter opening sequence ..

Yeah, Italy is definitely a striking departure from most of the world when it comes to videogame sales. Sony's presence seems to be much bigger there; wasn't it Italy that had that 300 ft billboard advertising the PS3?

So, the PS3 was lunched in March and had 6 months, two price drops and can't even do what the DS did last week in the UK.
The same goes for the Wii that barely sells what it did last week in the UK...
I think it just shows how small is the Italian VG market (or how huge the UK is...)

yeah, Italian market is so tiny, that it sold 50k PS3's in October, when US market sold a bit more than 100k.

I like the PS3 haters, no matter what PS3 does, it does it worst :lol

PS3 haters logic:
PS3 did pretty good in Italy, but if you have a clear view at those numbers like the PS3 haters have, and you compare italys video game market to uk or us you see how poor the PS3 did, damn it is such a failure.

Wow... the PS2 LTD numbers in Italy totally dwarf what the DS did last month in the UK
that really goes to show how horrible the DS is doing..

Uh, the fact that lifetime sales of a seven year old system is higher than monthly sales of another system is not really remarkable. The massive difference in size between the UK and Italian markets IS worth noting however considering that their populations are pretty much equal.

no, I am comparing how PS3 did in USA, largest market in the World and in Italy, 5th (or worse) largest market in Europe.

Country that sells 50k PS3's and 70k NDS's in October, is not irrelavant. Add rest of the southeren Europe to the tally, and for Sony, Southeren Europe is currently larger market than USA.

I wish I could say the same to you, but:
Southern Europe, as defined by the United Nations (the sub-regions according to the UN), comprises the following countries and territories:
Albania
Andorra
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Croatia
Gibraltar
Greece
Italy
Republic of Macedonia
Malta
Montenegro
Portugal
San Marino
Serbia
Slovenia
Spain
Vatican City
Italy, Spain and Portugal are obviously part of southern Europe, but can hardly be considered "the whole" of it.

Those are main countries of Southeren Europe, others include ex-yugoslavian republics, San Marino, Luxemburg and Vatican City, etc, most of which Sony is also probably doing better due to better presence, despite miniscule sales.

I am just saying that making fun of the market (Southeren Europe) that was bigger than Japanese and USA market for PS3 (and heck, Japanese for Wii as well in October) is total idiocy.
