Europe as a whole. Though oddly the UK usually makes up at least 20% of software sales... perhaps not in the case of the PS3.

Looking at the "Fastest To" page it looks like San Andreas went platinum on release and double platinum by the second week. Impressive.

Shame they wont be tracking the multiplatform stats as one for liberty city.

Just passing those barriers is probably just what it is. In other words, MotorStorm could have sold 1 copy from 299 999 in Feb and it would get mentioned.

Those are the games that crossed the various thresholds during this month. If I remember correctly COD4 was over 600k for 360 and over 300k for PS3.

Edit: I was right about COD4.

That means a Diamond game will have a Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Double Platinum award, as well. If you don't take that into account, you could have duplicate entries in those system breakdowns between award levels.

Looks like you're right. There's 26 PS2 games at Double Platinum level but 4 of those are also listed as Diamond titles.

That's going to change the numbers quite a lot, though it's technically right as there are x games over 100,000 etc.

Mario and Sonic must be damn near 1 million units already when the DS version is taken into account, no doubt the Wii version will hit a million units in its lifetime. If you count the two releases as one then I don't see anything stopping it from being the best selling game of all time in the UK. We've still got the olympics to come ffs. Talk about success.

Oh, and go go New Super Mario Bros. astonishing performance.

I never understood all the hate that this game got from some people on GAF (people in real life loved it and never complained of course)

I've played that game start to finish 4 times without ever feeling like I was bored. It nailed the fun factor dead on in my opinion. Deserves those sales.

I always defended it as well. I thought the level design was fantastic. I'm glad Mario has hit it big in UK (and I mean GTA-level big).

Ok... sheer boredom and work avoidance made me decide to grab all of the data from the site and put it into a spreadsheet. I noticed that there were quite a few games that appeared at gold / platinum etc but not at silver. I also dealt with a bunch of typos and duplicated games and finally managed to pull out some stats from it.

Bear in mind my numbers don't match the OPs because I sanitised the data. The numbers below are the number of games per platform at their highest award level.

Yup... the PS2 was truly a freaking monster.

S/W wise, X360 is doing great, while Wii is doing ok, and PS3 is doing better than I thought it will do.

DS doing way better than GBA (more than double) is a surprise for me. I can see DS S/W hitting 18 Million, or even 24 Million.

PS2 is a monster.
