(It starts with one)
One thing I don't know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn’t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

*space reserved until I write something.

Anamnesis

It was unusually dark and cold that night
(an omen of things to come?)
while the man on the moon hid out of fright,
as the midnight murk matched your jet black hair,
the temperature, your arctic stare.

I impulsively accepted your invitation
(my heart is full of false starts)
to join this unglued journey of transfiguration,
acting consciously indifferent to all of your jeers,
to disguise my concurrent hopes and fears.

I knew from the start I could go but halfway
(I was never one for committal)
till the lifestorms of change would wisk me away,
from this disco flip, bad acid trip,
where my memory of you slowly fades.

Crap, I nearly went to sleep and forgot about this.

I think I'll leave Linkin Park in, to inspire those that still may be writing.

Superposition

I feel at home
Headlights blur to my left
Dark corners and blades to my right
Body wasted, soul burned
I finally feel alive.

Cold breath, heated wings
A years worth of slings
I sigh and go on
To where my heart would sing

I'm down into the depths of this wondrous town
With all my gold, ready to give
A single point sparks in the dark above
Soft music begins to play
I fall gently on my concrete bed
To walk perhaps, another day

Transition

We must all pay a cost
For our actions.
To receive want we want
We must make sacrifices.

My carefully laid plans
Gone up in smoke
To give birth
To an uncertain future

Boxes closing
People keep moving
I'm moving too
But not with them

My clock has paused
And a new face
Has been readied
For my pause's new start.

End.
Weave lightening dreams,
and sober knights,
and colder hearts,
and machines, with fabric wings,
tanks, screaming children,
and burnt out post-apocalyptic fields,
nihilistic politicians,
and revolutionary teens,
nuclear submarines,
and genetically altered
super human beings,
parachuting soldiers,
and smokeless chutes,
on uprooted streets,
and blown out office buildings,
and thunderstorms over Atlantic cruise ships,
and what you get is my life's quilt;
I'm the white lighter you don't see,
the lady who holds thirteen
national security keys;
and though I am interesting,
and adore grey hat poetry,
do not celebrate me:
steal my identity and
I will blow your
ghost in the machine
to smithereens.

First time I've spotted a thread like this. Love the idea, wish I'd seen it sooner. I know entries are closed but I'll leave a contribution, since some of the work here has inspired me.

Narrowing and Narrowing
The foresight we have deals this pressure
That only arrives on the occassion
Rushing and stressing to get to a point
Where we can drop everything
Declare the final straw
Enough is Enough

Until it beings to re-expand
Our sights become clear with reason
Dedication only recognised by others
Usually in numbers
Which become meaningless

But, what is there to an end
but a beginning?
The end becomes endless
Our objectives further
through this narrowing tunnel
appear more distant as we progress
As we understand, as we accept
As we slowly become motionless

Here's my votes too:
1.FelixOrion
2.Tragiccomedy
3.ZeroRay

Sweet, good to have a new face.

We try to hold them weekly here
("try" being the key word)
, if we can, so we'll get a new one soon enough!

*shrugs* I might have screwed up them timers anyhow

We got posts in time. We got most of the votes in except for that one poster (lazy idiot ain't he?).
This thread is going pretty good where normalcy is concerned. I call it a success... thus far. :p

Oh and FunkeeFresh, yep, whichever week you are on, there is atleast one thread [ either the poetry thread or the creative writing thread] for that week. This thread was an interim thread so we could go back to a normal fortnightly schedule.

Actually, I wish more people posted poetry entries in the writing thread too. We use to get a couple every so often.
